In today's episode, KK was rejoicing at Jyoti's suggestion that Sudha continue studying further. Padma scoffed the idea, and asked what good it would be for her to study - she was neither the professional type for a job, and getting more educated would simply make marriage more difficult. Her opinion was that Sudha should get married ASAP, so that their responsibility is over, and Sudha too is happy. KK asked her whether marriage had been a solution to her problems, and Padma asked whether KK expected that after his accident, she should start working. KK replied that when a girl is educated, then in the event of adversity, she doesn't have to go for handouts, she can handle things herself.
So what do you think here? Do you want Sudha to marry (Uday) first, and then let them determine whether she should study further and then work, or do you want Sudha to stay home and keep studying? Ironically, in a twisted way, Padma could be right - the sooner Sudha marries, the sooner she's out of Padma's hands (although one can argue whether cm would be better), and w/ Uday, Jyoti and Pankaj. OTOH, it's unlikely that her working for her maayka would be looked at favorably, particularly since PJ are already contributing to the family. If she stays single, she might get a job (depending on how she does in an interview), and support the family, but then, that would encourage Padma to be back on her old tricks in making her a golden goose, instead of Jyoti.
OTOH, I just wish Padma could get a look at what Sushma's life is really like w/o her education. Of course, Uday is no Brij, and even if Sudha did nothing, she'd be well cared for.
