Guess the characters and scenes in HBAS that these images from movies remind you of...
1.2.Chapter 8 ...Khalil'Huzoor! My sources got it wrong... I need more time, that's all!'
'Time?' Shehzaade snapped 'Time will not undo the damage this has done to my repute and to my plans...'
'She killed 5 of my men...' on the spur of a moment, Khalil sliced the axe again, splicing the air with its blade. It landed upon another guard's neck - and so neatly this time, that it'd managed to nick a minute cut on the man's skin, giving rise to exasperated gasps 'She challenged me... and my pride
3.Chapter 23...MahendraGreetings Kunwarsa...' she smirked 'why am I not surprised?'
'Then be prepared to be surprised...'
'We'll see!'
Following a hearty laugh at her facade of confidence, Mahendar mellowed the deviousness in his voice - to make a final attempt at fixing this 'Look... I request you once again... let's forgo this animosity... it's fruitless! You do not need any further problems in your life... if we both march in like enemies, the damage will be irreparable... I can put a stop to it now, if you choose!'
His words weren't entirely pointless. After all, there was still time - and there was more to be gained by making truce than by making enemies 'This wedding will benefit us both... I will take care of you and of your people... I will protect you from the Shehzaade... you will get to control Parnagarh, as you wish... that is a PROMISE!'
However, Heera could recognise the fresh trap being laid out for her. 'A PROMISE jijasa?' A resigned smile crept on her lips as she recalled where it'd all started from 'Like the many promises of love you'd made to jiji?'
'Fine! Have it your way...' Mahendar snapped 'But, wait and watch what I'm capable of doing!'
He clicked his fingers in front of her eyes.
She refused to bat an eyelid, even though her throat had gone from dry to parched 'I'm waiting...'
4.Chapter 26...stood like true leader...heera.My dear people...'
'Baisa?'
Having hurriedly straightened themselves, they got up on their feet, one after another - sensing from the expressions of both, their baisa and the chief-maid that the upcoming announcement was not going to be pleasant.
'What brings you here, baisa?'
'You have some work for us?'
'Before I begin...' Heera tightly laced her fingers together 'I would like to apologise for letting you down... and for all that you've been through lately...'
'No baisa...'
'No...' What started off as a few startled mutters, grew into a chorus of unanimous responses.
'No, we do not feel so...'
'Please don't apologise...'
'It is noble that you think that way...' Heera sighed 'but... it is only fair that I apologise...' Few solemn moments later, she moved on to the main subject 'Nevertheless, I have another news to share... as planned, most of you will continue travelling onwards to Parnagarh... however... I will be taking a detour towards the capital... accompanied by a small group, of course...'
5. Chapter 48 ...Farooq sahib'Farooq Sahib'
With a subtle smile, the Shehzaade read the grand old man after what'd been many months gone. His features had mellowed even further and the saggy skin around his wrists were almost sinking off to a side. Yet, unlike the rest of his aging peers, he knew the secret to continue commanding respect - by keeping his posture stiff and glares sharp. Sharper even than the streaks of silver in his long beard.
As always, the man's robe was modest. And there was not a single adornment on his person to indicate he was an esteemed royal advisor in court. But his persona compensated for all of that. Tall and lanky, Farooq Sahib exuded the sort of glory that sometimes rivalled even his own princely splendour!
'Welcome back to the capital... so, how was your grand pilgrimage to Mecca?'
6. Chapter 47...shehzaade.With a very pointed chin that made him appear mean rather than handsome, the royal looked almost twice as old as him. Twice as hot-blooded. Twice as proud. But most importantly, twice as manipulative7.Chapter 3Clutching the handle of her sword, she waited for the ogre to attack - her own furious breath and beats alternating with the footsteps of his shoes
'Who are you?' Durga grit her teeth, as he cornered her against the wall
'Oh my... you are more beautiful than the stories describe...' the ugly man bored into her, while keeping an eye on the sword she was holding so tightly 'I'm certain my Sahib would like you for himself...'
'I'm sure he would...' she spewed 'But, WHO is your Sahib?'
'Don't be so impatient... he'll come up to meet you soon...' the man caressed her face with the tip of his blade 'Heard of the 'Khalil'? I'm fortunate to be one of his men...'
8. Chapter 20Bansi...
'Heera' Her authoritative voice blared through the marble corridors and into the lobby of the palatial chamber the young lady was working in 'So you've been writing again... I'd warned you... no more of this!' she frowned, clutching the borders of her veil tightly. Slightly chubby by frame and very short by stature - this old woman possessed an unassuming profile to be the Maharani of Bansi. But what she lacked in height, she made up in attitude. Of course, the tragedy had dulled some of her edge - but on a good day, she could command a hall full of subordinates with remarkable ease and efficiency. And when the need arose, she could exude just as much motherly warmth upon her close ones too.
9. Chapter 3...Khan sahibThrough the curtains, she couldn't see much - other than the very blurry outline of a horse and the feet of its rider. However, what she did manage to guess - from a vague sighting of his riding shoe - was its style. This traveller was a Mughal. And an avid rider too10. Chapter 51...Azeez'WHAT?' Exclaimed Azeez, followed by the rest of his mates - as soon as their pupils got accustomed to a light they hadn't seen in weeks! No, they weren't aware of what to expect at the court-hall - but they definitely hadn't come expecting to meet the tattered sight of their Sahib. It was torture, all over again!
'Khan Sahib!' Azeez's brows flexed into an incensed scowl. A respectable icon being shamed in public? A warrior - whose very shadows forced the fiercest of beasts into retreat - chained, so that the vultures could flock to have their share of fun? 'I...
11. Chapter 27 part 2For Akbar though, the sounds of their gasps were no longer audible, like how the surrounding branches and leaves were no longer visible. He was in a world of his own, where all he could see was the enemy - a hawk focussing on its prey.
Every muscle was tense, as his head arched forwards, waiting for the right moment to arrive, so he could release the arrow.
Suddenly, from the lower edge of his eye he noticed a sharp boulder coming up on the way. Darn! Darn! Darn! Darn! Darn! This was not ideal at all. He would have to take aim exactly when Bahadur would be taking a huge leap.
The stress was severe. Nervous sweat trickled down his hair, leaving damp trails along his jawline and neck. Yet, his shoulders and wrists stayed firm as rock.
And a split flash before the boulder came, before his legs tightened around the saddle to make the leap, his fingers let go!
TWAAA NNN GGG!!!!
12.'Maharaj kakasa...' murmured Bindiya as she gazed at the invisible horizon - her features dull as the smoky kohl smeared across her cheeks 'Why do I feel like we've wronged her terribly... wronged her, and our Mansabdar Sahib...' As expected, the girl was first to blurt what was on her mind. But as always, she was speaking for the rest of her maids too when doing so. 'We allowed prejudice and ego rule our choices... haven't we?'13.Chapter 43 chachajaan'Respect and gratitude is all that this lowly kitchen slave has for his master too, Ibrahim! Which is why, I tried everything in my power to get Akbar to choose a bride and settle down with a family - for HIS happiness and peace. I failed. But within ten weeks, SHE's done what none of us could do in ten years' he emphatically pointed to the heiress standing by their side 'so much so, he even went against our Huzoor to keep her safe... it gives me hope... there is someone who can bring my once-happy ten year old master back - HER... and I want to help her help him, by telling her what really happened14. Chapter 13Many years ago, a boy used to stand the same way in the empty kitchens of his Abbu's mansion, his weakened shoulders leaning against the wall, while his eyes scoured the place for signs of food. Even at 12, he was a handsome youth, but one would have to see through layers of sweat, tears, dirt, blood, illness, exhaustion and scars of abuse to recognise that.
It would be late noon by the time he would complete all of his chores, like it was now, and his body would be famished. But there would be nothing left. The members of that house would have eaten. The managers would have eaten. Why, even the maids would have been fed. But not this fatherless boy.
Yet, no one would care. And those who did, were too frightened to raise a voice.
All, except one - Abbu's old servant, who swept the kitchens.
When no one was watching, the elderly man would ravage through whatever ingredients he could lay his hands on and whip up a hot meal for the child. Some days wouldn't be so fortunate, and he would have to go so far as to steal a few pieces of bread so the boy wouldn't go to bed hungry.
15. Chapter 9The men did as told. Of course, they weren't aware that this arrangement was part of her 'test' - for it was their reactions and expressions hereafter that would decide if her message was moving enough.
With quivering fingers, she picked up the scroll. Her voice cracked even before she could start the first line - but, she had to motivate herself to stay strong with a bout of tough self-talk. The leader of a clan could not afford to fall to pieces at so critical a juncture.
'This humble message comes to you...' Heera began reading its contents aloud 'from Parnagarh, the land of valleys...'
Following a brief introduction on the place and its people, the message went on to depict how its illustrious 17 year old leader, Durga Bai, had strived long and hard to keep the villages safe. And after portraying her exceptional deeds at great length, it went on to portray in just as much detail how the lady had met her sad end too.
As visualised by Heera; the brave and final fight of the lone warrior was described using the choicest of adjectives. The cruel manner in which Khalil and his men had snatched everything from her wounded body was replayed in the most hard-hitting words. Each tragic turn was so well-written, each painful moment painted in such soul-stirring fashion - that the readers would be compelled to feel precisely how Durga Bai must have felt during her last moments.
And when the haunting calamity would still be lingering in front of the readers' eyes, the letter was abruptly concluded - with an appeal
'Please stand by me... please show your support for a great warrior like Durga Bai, by helping me bring the criminals to justice... please speak up for Parnagarh in court!'
Her lips still shivering from the after effects of having read that disturbing message aloud, Heera finally glanced up, hesitant and uncertain.

Guess the characters and scenes in HBAS that these images from movies remind you of...
1. Sayyid sent to deal with the issue at the safe-house .2.Khalil WHAT?' His chapped fists rolled up into a ball again 'That slimy rascal! Gets information from me... and then goes behind my back... to carry out his own vendetta! DAMN!' Down his fist came upon the rosewood table, unable to hold back any longer. BAAANG!3.The wily Mahendar -'What if...' his mouth parted from awe. What if he didn't return to Manswar straightaway? For, it would delay everything by weeks, if not months. What if he sent his hunting troupe home, while he travelled another path that'd take him in the direction of the palace? After having journeyed all the way out here, it was more sensible to make this small detour to the capital now, was it not?4. Heera steeling herself to address the Parnagarhis to announce her marriage to AMK -Please ask everyone to assemble at the lawns in front of the Haveli... I have an announcement to make!'5. FS when he goes to meet Khalil to spill the beans about AMK after his meeting with the Shehzaade.6.Mahendar listening intently and trying to figure out with Tej Raj and the Senapati the developments in Parnagarh following Akheera's marriage.7. Durga in her last valiant fight against the intruders in the haveli.8.The Ranisa of Manswar questioning Heera in the Sabha Niwas about her meeting with Mahendar.9. Mahendar on his horse riding outing with Durga- when he fooled all of us with his whiter-than-white personality.10.Azeez- when he asks Heera to go an injured AMK to tend to his shoulder wounds.11.The next instant, Akbar had seized his bow and strapped the quiver across his shoulder 'Pick your weapons... they've got to be nearby...'12. Heera's maids shedding tears as she leaves for the capital.13.Tearful Maharaj Kakasa as he sees Heera leaving for the capital without taking the food he had prepared.14. Starving Akbar waiting for the food that Chacha jaan made for him in the kitchen.15. Heera reviewing the letter she wrote to Mahendar to offer him her condolences.
Come hold me tonight my love, hold me so tight.
I'm in need of your arms around me.
Don't know if I'll sleep all night, quite certain I won't.
But, I still want and need you here -to help my soul feel safe, and to lull my heart to a peace.
You don't have to say a word if you don't want,
I just want to feel you close with your arms around me.
Hearing your voice and your breath though
would make everything much better. While you kiss my jitters away, and I kiss yours.
I need you everyday for eternities light, but I specially need you tonight. For, I would feel like myself again in your arms.Ai Khuda, if only by some miracle, she could have been here this nightand held me so tight,Helping my soul feel safe, lulling my heart to a peace.
