Lashy,

I like the following stanza in the poem.. particularly the lines in bold.

You cut me loose.
Taught me how to swim,
Taught me I could breathe.
Inhale, exhale.
Taught me I could smile,
Taught me I could laugh.
You showed me kindness.
You showed me happiness.
When I found you,
I found me.
You gave me life,
You gave me purpose.

I feel it is more gratitude than loyalty that had hitherto made AMK not deviate from the path of his duty towards his huzoor..

Undoubtedly Periyamma... it is out of gratitude that that loyalty has been born. He is no doubt a man of his word.. but, when it comes to his Huzoor, he also means it with emotion!

So apt,so beautiful,so touching,if only Hazoor could hear!!The man has a heart somewhere, as per the author.He is the same man who prayed for AMK's safe return when he left on dangerous missions,then why,O why! this callous,this treacherous behaviour!!Can you give a reason KK?

Only possible reason I can think of may be possessiveness . As long as AMK was obedient and dedicated himself to the service of the Moghul Kingdom, Shehzaade considered him as a part of his own self. Once he noticed that Akbar had diverted his path in the direction of some girl of the enemy clan, he doubted him for divided loyalty.. We already got a hint of this in Chapter 25. From then on he had started to watch his movements, which is why when charges on Akbar were brought to his notice, he grabbed the opportunity. It is just an outcome of the jealousy he had over the girl who had the power over the very strong man, the Ustaad.

Such instances we see even in present days.. The control that the guardians have over the top ranking film heroines and the disappointment they get when they choose their own lives subsequently.. Why does the simple relationship between a mother - in law and daughter- in law of a household get spoiled?

It is just my opinion.

If AMK had kept some information from him...AND there was no Heera/ no love marriage/ none of these past 'cracks' that started from chapter 25, I get the uncanny feeling Shehzaade would have been (and wanted to be) more lenient with AMK!

You girls wouldn't believe it...

but guess who just called me... Shyamala Periyamma... and she spoke with me for 45 minutes to discuss 49 and 50! I'm just preparing lunch and have to step out for groceries... but I'll type the snippets out of her general consensus on the chapters!
