Anyway, Akbar let himself be subjected to the torture - because when a psychopath is torturing their victim, he tends to brag about his exploits/achievements. Narcissistic they are. And that is why Akbar waited -

Of the three attackers who'd come to finish the informer, at least one would have to keep an eye on the informer na... Akbar tried to split them up to make it easy on Ibrahim since Ibrahim can't handle all three... and since he wanted to keep it quiet...

The clue is in this sentence - 'Ibrahim take our informer to the kitchens at the back... strike up a lengthy conversation with someone there... if one of the brutes comes after you, you know what to do...'

I'm leaving it to reader's imagination how he was finished off... but, Ibrahim quietly finished him off on the other side of the backalley - before they all met to walk off to the horses.
