DUKHI BILAKHTI HARKHA KO CHHOD KAR KHAN SAHIB CHALE KARNE VISHRAAM

KAYI DINO KI DAUD BHAAG MEIN MILA NAHI UNHE TANIK BHI AARAM

(Leaving a distraught Harkha, Khan Sahib left to get some rest. The past few days had been extremely hectic for him, without a single moment of rest)

THHAK KAR PALANG PAR LET GAYE WO, KAARYON KI SAMAAAPTI KA LIYE SANTOSH

KAYI PEHER TAK SOYE RAHE VE, ZARA BHI UNKO NAHI THHA HOSH

(He entered his tent and lay down to rest. His mind was at peace with the way things had turned out Immediately he fell into a deep sleep for several hours)

PHIR JAB UNKI NIDRA TOOTI, UNKO DI GAYI ZAROORI KHABAR

HARKHA SAHIBA DO BAAR AAYI THHI, UNSE MILNE KO HO TATPAR

(When he awoke, he was given an important information that Harkha Sahiba had come to meet him, twice)

HARKHA KA PATR TAB PADHA UNHONE, JISME PEHLE THHA AABHAAR

AUR AAGRAH BHI THHA KI PARNAGARH MEIN NA RAHEIN AADARNEEYA MANSABDAAR

(Then he read Harkha's letter. First Harkha had thanked him for his help. Further she had also requested that the respected Mansabdaar of Parnagarh set up his residence elsewhere)

'RAJYA CHALEGA AAPKA HI, AUR MAANYA RAHENGE MUGHAL NIYAM

BAS AAP NA RAHEIN PARNAGARH MEIN, ITNI VINTI KARTE HAIN HUM'

(The letter said, 'You would be the ruler of Parnagarh and Mughal laws will be followed there. But it is my request that you do not stay there.')

PATRA KINAARE RAKH KAR KHAN SAHIB NIKAL PADE KARNE KO SNAAN

TAALAAB MEIN TAIR KAR TAAZA HUE, HOTHON PE UNKE AAYI MUSKAAN

(Khan Sahib kept the letter aside and proceeded to take a bath. He was fresh after his invigorating swim, and there was a mild smile on his lips)

HARKHA SAHIBA KO BHEJ SANDESA AAKAR MILNE KA NIMANTRAN DIYA

AAG JALAAKAR DEGH CHADHAAYI, AUR BHOJAN BANANA AARAMBH KIYA

(He sent a message to Harkha Sahiba requesting her to come and meet with him. He then lit a fire and set a pot on it for cooking)

SAANJH SAMAY THHA, HARKHA SANDESA PAAKAR THODA CHAUNK GAYI

AAVASHYAK KAARYA THHA, POORN KARNA THHA, SO SAHIB SE MILNE NIKAL PADI

(Harkha was surprised to see the note from the Sahib so late in the evening. But the task was important, and it had to be done, and, hence, she set out to meet him)

PAHUNCH KAR HARKHA BOLI, 'SAHIB MILNE KA KAARAN SAMJHAAIYE MUJHE!

PATRA MEIN MAINE SAB SPASHT LIKH DIYA, BAAT KYA BACHI, BATAAIYE MUJHE'

(On reaching his tent, Harkha said, 'Sahib, I have written everything clearly in the letter. Then why did you request for this meeting?')

HALKA SA MUSKAAYE KHAN SAHIB, BOLE, 'SAHIBA SUNO MERI BAAT

EK DO BAATEIN SAAF HO JAAYEIN, ISLIYE CHAHTA THHA MAIN MULAKAAT'

(Khan Sahib smiled slightly, and said, 'Sahiba, there are a couple of things that I needed to clarify, and hence I have requested you for this meeting')

'MAIN PARNAGARH KA MANSABDAAR HOON, WAHIN RAHOONGA, HAVELI MEIN

AUR WAHAN PAHUNCHKAR HUM DONO BANDHENGE VIVAAH KE CHANDAN ROLI MEIN'

(I am the Mansabdaar of Parnagarh, and I will stay there, in the Haveli. And as soon as we reach there, we will be united in holy matrimony)

VIVASHTA MEIN GHIRI THHI HARKHA BECHAARI, PAR DATI RAHI AUR ROYI NAHI

SAHIB BHI VIVASH THHE, SAMJHA NA PAAYE, KI YE VIKALP HAI USKE LIYE SAHI

(Poor Harkha was completeLy helpless. Yet she did not flinch or cry. Khan Sahib, too, was helpless, that he could not explain to Harkha that this is the best option for her)

VIVAAH SE SURAKSHIT HOGI HARKHA, MUGHALON SE BHI AUR RAJPOOTON SE

FARMAAN SHEHZAADE KA SURAKSHIT KAREGA USE KHALIL JAISON KE KARTOOTON SE

(The wedding would render Harkha safe from both the Mughals and the Rajputs. Further, the Shaehzaade's Farmaan would protect her from the likes of Khalil)

Good Morning Banjaras and Baisas 🤗

Monday morning... since my cousin and fly are arriving in a few hours, I might not be able to quote and respond to everyone individually like I usually do... but, I have read all posts... anything I might have missed please remind me! (As always😆😉)

Yes... the surprise plan was a success! Mr. Lashy's bday is on the 16th but with the sudden schedule of us having guests I knew I wouldn't be able to make any plans this week... and next weekend is crazy busy! So, it was a last minute decision to shift things around a bit.

He was '😲' when he saw the babysitter at home on a Sunday night 😆

We saw Thor... and I am glad we did. Apart from the fact that I still love Superheroes (no surprises there) Thor is probably a better-suited movie for the cinemas... besides, it had far better reviews than Murder on Orient Express! Laugh-riot it was, with the right amount of action & emotion! Don't mind watching it again too!

Lana... tum na... 😡😆... what all you've written... had I not been so busy... I might've joined Cookie with a belan!

Chellam... & Selvi (your conversation/fight over the binoculars was hilarious... reminds me of Bindiya-Dhani) 😆 But, Chellam I'm still confused about what notty thoughts you could possibly have that I poured water over! 😲

Anyway on a more serious note - don't worry girls (for those of you who might be worried. For the rest, sky is the limit, of course!😆)... Heera/AMK and HBAS will have classy romance... I'll strive to keep it that way and keep myself in check to ensure there'll be nothing crass or times when they act out of character...

The teaser is more on the lines of the opium-giggling Heera and playing-chausar-with-Ibrahim-on fun-evenings-Heera.

Both raised eyebrows at first, but turned out to be something innocent.

Lavanya... AMK does confide in her those aspects that he needs to. For instance, he was already planning to explain to her about the messengers... and inform her that he would be away on a short mission. About the mission though, even HE doesn't yet know of the Mahendar-Khalil-Chota Faizan connection. So, why must he confide in her about one of his men/spies when she's not yet involved?
And AMK is not doing this because he doesn't trust Heera (he trusts her fully). He is doing this, because it's the code - and not only in the 17th c, but even today. Even Defence personnel, Top govt agencies etc are not allowed to tell their families anything about what they do. My friend here works in the Govt Environmental Wing (it's only the environment - imagine!) and yet she isn't even allowed to tell her family what project she is on! Simply because telling families can risk these top Govt secrets being leaked out and even put families in danger. Which is why neither AMK nor any of his men tell their families what they actually do...

Either way, he tells her before he takes off. He did so after the fair too. He doesn't have to talk about his missions though. She understands (misses him, but understands. And truly, she doesn't expect him to tell her about his work... just that he's safe😳).
And now that there is a breach in the wall... there will be more communication... we can take his first letter with the binoculars as a sign of that! 😉

If and when the scenario you say arises, there's no doubt they'll be a team. They always have. Even before they were so close.😊

Khan Sahib stepped forward to say something but his face clouded at the sight of her anxiety wrought face.

Khan Sahib smiled genially at her and added, " Even in future, if i require an efficient dependable person, i can count on you."

Lana felt weak in her knees. She simply wanted to run forward towards the man into his arms and thank him for not taking her to task for her folly.

She just managed a meek "The pleasure is mine Khan Sahib. May i leave..." She was struggling to control her tears that threatened to break dam at any moment.

"A moment please madam. Since we now know the exact location, we would retrieve the paper soon enough. Sayyid and i may leave to Parnagarh soon after. But i would request that Azeez and you stay till the day after tomorrow till the festival ends, and further if your uncle insists. Azeez i gather has rather become quite popular here and his absence will be sorely missed and doubted upon. And i wouldn't deprive him of the festive food for another day, for his services. That is of course if it is okay with you."

Lana simply nodded, finding it hard to find her voice. And ran down the stairs as fast as her weak legs would take her.

At Kuki's house

Kuki stared out of her windows. The trees and flowers that seemed very beautiful only this afternoon looked revolting now. She recollected the various times Azeez's behavior had been strange and she had overlooked. The quick shoving of papers into his pouch and laughing it off, the cancellation of promised meetings only to be spotted somewhere else, the sudden disappearance for days on end and appearing with flowers or her favorite laddus. He worked for the Mansabdar at the haveli. The Mansabdar was a horse trader and ran races. Then why the secretive behavior? Could they all be related to that lady of the mansion. She had to find out. This cannot go on. This time she will see for herself what he was upto.

Kuki fought angry tears. "No Shah Sahib, you cannot take me for a ride again and again. I'm leaving the first thing in the morning." She was decided.

In Lana's room

Lana was fighting her tears too, but they were tears of relief. Relief that her folly rather than disrupt Khan Sahib, actually helped him. Relief that the grave looks were not because of his anger towards her, but because he had made an nth hour exit. Relief that she had not fallen in his eyes. Relief that she had ended up helping him inadvertently. She recollected his warm smile and fresh tears made way. What a gallant man! How lucky she was to be inhis company! He trusted her now and counted upon her. What if he gives her another important responsibility and she fumbles as was her habit! The tension slowly crept back into the girl.

The sunrays were struggling with the stubborn curtains to enter the grand chamber to have a glimpse of the ethereal beauty that adorned the ornately designed four poster bed. The lady who stirred even the toughest hearts stirred slightly in her sleep and slowly opened her eyes to the wonders of the day!
