Rose you know, to tell you frankly, no matter what the kids are, they are still manageable to me. I know the means and ways to get them to work or calm down either through rewards, positive or negative reinforcements, contracts etc but the difficult part are the non-compromising, demanding, in denial parents! They are a different matter altogether and with lawsuits sprouting like mushrooms in this country you have to be extra careful in putting forth information diplomatically in a positive manner. The kids are a breeze compared to the parents! 😃

Sindoor is THE most important part of a Rajput wedding...

There is no concept of Mangalsutra...

Maybe there is today... but I researched on this and couldn't find anything to support the claim that a Mangalsutra was used in 17th c amongst Rajputs...

The texts about social life/weddings amongst Rajputs in Medieval India talk of Haldi, Tilak (engagement) the sword presentation, the gifts, baraat, the phere and sindoor. Everything else is a modern addition.

Instead of mangalsutra, it is the Borla (the round teeka on forehead), Sindoor, toe rings and the round nosering that signifies a married woman for them.

Both Jodhas (in serial and the movie have got it spot on!)

Okay I don't mind if there is no mangalsutra sequence but I am happy that there is sindoor daan! I am dreaming of the scene! He will slowly pull up her veil, put the sindoor on her (maybe 3 times) and then put the veil down to cover her face up! That gesture is so sweet and touching and personal! As if telling the world, 'she is mine to keep, to love, to adore, to admire and to marvel' warding off all the evil eyes!

I am not going to answer this in detail lest I give parts of the story away, but amongst royalty, the mistress of the household would not cook. Now, she would know HOW to cook.. she would know exactly what's going on in the kitchen... decide the menu etc... but she wouldn't cook - definitely not in the middle of the night...

A house that can hold 100 people (currently about 300 staying there) would have one main chef (Maharaj) plus at least 5-6 assistant cooks...

and they literally sleep/live in or nearby the kitchens. If anyone needs even a glass of milk warmed at night, they would be the ones to do it for you..

Why royal ladies were trained to cook - was more for an 'in case' scenario... if the kings/nobles lost their homes, had to run into exile... then, their wives would have to know how to fend for their husbands, right? That's why...

As for this story, Heera can cook - but she's no expert... since she's always had someone do it for her... her services have always been far more valuable elsewhere! 😃

But I know what you're trying to ask - and for that, I'd say 'W&W' 😆

Gotcha Lashy about the line in purple! 😉 Got my answer! 😆 It can be the other way round too when in some weird situation he might have to cook for her! After all, he has shown his skill to her in detailed elaboration earlier! 😃 Moi happy just imagining! 😆

Bindu will steal AMK's saleem shahi, what about the wedding night, blocking the door? Any volunteers? AMK will have to empty his pockets then too, I guess to get an entry in the room! 😃

Manasi worry not! He will be only too happy to lighten up his wallet! This moment he has worked for really hard and finally it has materialised after many manipulations, so he won't waste the time bargaining about the amount! And moreover he is not the bargaining type, he likes to be the boss, in every arena but in this particular instance, he will let go freely! Dekhna, he who never bothers about customs or attire or etiquettes that much will observe and maintain every single ritual and custom to the T decked up like a Prince! 😃 He is unique, I tell you! 😃 No wonder I love this character!

Lashy I don't know if I have missed reading this part in the story or not but I don't remember AMK ever asking Heera why did she say 'no' to Mahendra's marriage proposal! Has he asked her? If not will he in any time in future? I want to see what she replies to him. If she gives an honest answer he will slowly loosen up to a warm smile for the first time, not a mere hint or a fleeting one but a genuine smile! 😃

Oye meri Tilottama, 😃 I used to eat non-veg till 5 years back but for last 5 years, I m strict vegetarian! Being a bong I never liked fish or rasogolla! I am weird that way, well let's say 'bizarre'! 😆

But I will tell you this I miss Kolkata Biriyani, rabri, egg chicken roll, mughlai paratha, Tangra chinese, jhaalmuri, phuchka! Nothing can parallel all this, anywhere in the world! My mouth is watering now! 😛
