Chapter 1

The Hesitation.

"Is she doing fine? asked the concerned husband as his wife had passed out all of a sudden. The hakim checked her and said that she's fine which calmed the nerves of the worried husband. He went in to check her himself and found her resting on the bed immersed in some thoughts. He gently caressed her face as she looked at him.

"You got me worried Jodha, care evident in those dark forest orbs. She entwined her fingers in his to give him some sort of relief. She watched him engrossed in that handlock of theirs. He's tensed' she figured out.

"Shehenshah, she said rather it was a whisper you can say. Her one word deepened his frown.

"Shehenshah? he repeated out of shock. From when did she start addressing him Shehenshah. He was Jalal, her Jalal.

He lovingly cupped her face and asked, "What's wrong darling? Till yesterday everything was fine what happened now. Something's troubling you?

She lowered her head as she would speak the truth out if she'd just look in those orbs of his. She wanted to ask him and clear all those senseless thoughts of hers. They made no sense but still it's scaring her. She knew what would be the answer but still she wanted to hear it from him. She trusted him a lot, more than anybody else but deep down those thoughts were haunting her. She just wanted to confirm those lingering thoughts of hers'.

"In our custom wives don't have the right to call their husband's by their name, she made an excuse as a smile made a way to his face.

"This custom was not followed till yesterday?, he questioned smilingly, I mean yesterday we reached Agra after the grand wedding after that the jashn in the evening. Until the jashn everything was pretty well. Somebody told you something? this time his voice grew deeper as he questioned her. She simply nodded in negation.

"Something is changed otherwise My Sherni never sits a minute quiet.

"Your Sherni is tired Jalal that's the reason why she seems quiet today, came in Hamida with some dasis as the duo smiled at her.

"It's time for your meds beta,

Planting a soft kiss on her forehead he said, "I'll be back in sometime. Take care. She smiled.

"Ammijaan take care of her and don't tolerate any of her tantrums for medicines or food or else I would have to be a little strict then, he exited leaving the mother daughter duo into bouts of laughter.

"Who met her last? interrogated the king as his wife's strange behavior compelled him to do so.

"Huzoor Rukaiya Begum had last come in to talk with Jodha Begum,

He had now understood the picture completely. Rukaiya was definitely the one behind Jodha's state. He knows her right from childhood and he is very sure that in this matter as well Rukaiya has poked her nose. His eyes blazed as he made his way towards her chamber.

Rukaiya's chamber:

The furious king dashed inside the room scaring the cunning begum.

"What's wrong Jalal? Why are you so angry?

Forcefully gripping her arm he gritted out, What have you stuffed in her ears Rukaiya? What have you told her?

She groaned as his grip tightened.

"Jalal you're hurting me? she answered fidgeting in his firm grip.

"Answer me damnit, his anger rose.

"I haven't told her a thing Jalal, she voiced out her fake explanation as his anger increased every passing moment.

"Then why the hell did you visit her yesterday evening before the jashn? he roared. Tears gushing out of her eyes made no difference to him as he continued his torture.

"I...I just went there to...explain her the rules of the harem. How...she ought to stay etc. No...nothing much.

He jerked her off , "Don't mess with her Rukaiya. I know these games of yours very well but don't even dare to play your dirty antics on her. Cause I won't tolerate it further. If you are my friend don't forget she's my love. Mark my words. "

Giving her the final warning he left.

"Jodha...Jodha ...Jodha...don't know what's so special in that b**** that Jalal chooses her over everybody else. " she cried out throwing all the things too the floor distorting the whole room(Hukka Begum ka fav kaam).

Her cries turned into cunning laughter, Sorry Jalal but this begum of yours won't stay in Agra for long. I will never destroy that begum who even tries to snatch my place in your life.

At night:

The day's events had taken a toll on him so he decided to go to the one where his heart finds solace and it was none other than Jodha. He entered her chamber and the sight left him flabbergasted. She was there changing her clothes. He snaked his arm around her petite form as the sudden touch left her baffled. They remained silent for the next few moments as they enjoyed each other's proximity. He nuzzled his nose in the crook of her neck making her tilt her head. Her legs felt jello as she lost control over her senses as his fingers entwined in his. Unable to handle anymore she slipped but he was quick enough to hold her. He gently picked up in his arms as the hazel, nervous orbs met with the passionate ones. His gaze lingered down and stopped at her bosoms. She has detached her dupatta away thereby giving him a clear view of her cleavage. She hid her crimson hue cheeks in his manly chest as he smirked seeing her blush. He carefully placed her on the bed and lay beside her. Her eyes shut her breath heavy. He caressed her forehead in response to which she slowly opened her eyes. For a moment they had lost in each other's eyes. She turned to the other side of the bed as he advanced towards her. He inhaled her sweet scent whilst she gasped. His front touched her back making her insane. She wanted to feel him, touch him, and melt in his arms but suddenly something struck her and she got up with a jerk which left him startled. He was taken aback with the sudden jolt. He sat up to her, "Jodha did I do something that hurt you? Was I pretty fast?

"It's nothing like that Shehenshah. I'm just... She further hesitated whereas he held her hand assuring her.

"I'm just not ready for it, She looked up to him to see his reaction to her statement. He seemed quite serious, for a second, scaring that she hurt him. He let out a faint laugh getting her puzzled.

"Bas itni si baat, pecking her forehead he continued, "I will never do anything against your wish darling. You don't need to worry for that, which got her relaxed.

Jodha was guilty of her actions. They both retired for the night laying in each other's arms.

"Am I doing the right thing? Aren't I betraying him? He loves me so much how can could I? all sorts of questions erupting from her mind as she lay awake in his arms.
