AMK's self has a pragmatism that in some ways transcends the limited confines of romantic love yet has a tenderness.

I have not seen Gunaa. Maybe the only person who hasn't. But to me AMK is a man for all seasons. Not sure if I can see him as a forlorn lover. More the man who fell for her despite himself and will always love her no matter what happens. Even the few sweet memories of her lift him out of the often dire circumstances he finds himself in . Does he need the immediacy of contact? The urgency of passion? The desperation to explain himself. Not yet...not yet... 😆. I actually find his measured, pragmatic behind the scenes approach quite poignant. His feverish attempts to protect and find her without her knowing, his wanting to wait till she recovers from the shock. Yes, there is guilt but why do I feel he is resigned to whatever she dishes out to him and will still propose the pragmatic 'Let's marry for Parnagarh' solution. 😆 So it does transcend the intense narrow outlook of just two lovers trying to find equilibrium.

But.. he is also afraid of wanting (and desire is even a step ahead of wanting) because a lot of basic things he's wanted in life have not been given to him... (A mother, a father, a family, a home) Anything he has today he's had to earn himself...

Heera on the other hand has always seen love... So, she's never be afirad to want, to have desires... It also shows in the way they approached their feelings for each other!

I guess she's the one who's going to teach him it's not afraid to want!!!!
