I am relieved that you and some others liked it so much. But the real magic was in Lashy's imagination.

there is nothing here that irritates me and sets my teeth on edge.So I do not need to take refuge in satire. I had to do that all the time in Jodha Akbar. I enjoy satire, but on the balance, I would always prefer to be positive, so I am grateful to my Lashykanna for letting me be that way all the time.

Ashwinee, I begin to despair of you!😉 Granted that the complacent looking and reasonably handsome Fawad Khan is a great hit with so many of you, but as Lashy's Akbar??? Never!

He looks well fed and comfortable, with a large square visage. Where is the fine-boned patrician face? The closed in haughtiness that sets the rest of the world perennially at a distance, except that one, the only one, who is slowly setting his defences at naught? Can you even imagine this chap tormented inside, passing thru long nights of the soul, not knowing how to escape a net of silken bonds of unfamiliar emotions that was closing in on him almost against his will?

Not on your life. He looks much, much too self-satisfied for any of that.

So, kid, cashier this candidate forthwith and start searching again. We are not going to settle for a mediocrity. We want someone approximating to the real thing, no matter how long it takes to find him. Till then, we can all imagine him for ourselves, which is the easiest!

I hope Sri does not second your choice of this FK, otherwise she is going to hear from me!

Lashykanna, while we are on the topic, your Persian candidate looks properly romantic, like an oriental (to use a 19th century and early 20th century term) version of Lord Byron, but he (a) looks too old for Akbar, and (b) his face looks too lined and world-weary. How I wish I knew how to scour the net for a passable likeness to my Akbar!

It was splendid as always, if Lashy di is a toiling gardener sowing seeds of finest breed, and watering them with her imagination, reaping blossoms of iridescent shades... you are the one who wreaths all of them into a garland so bright... so ethereal!

Your writing is like a magic potion, whose hangover never really passes away... you're a perfect blend of all... Dickens' narrative, Austen's art of living in the society with all its practical facts, ignoring nothing... the rare trait of observing human minds enlightening its nooks and crannies, with the searchlight of your insight!!👏

-last but not the least, that I am now sure you should start writing yourself. Your grasp of all the necessary ingredients - language, syntax, vocabulary - is impeccable. Only one more element is needed: imagination. I am sure you have plenty of that as well. So go to it! I will be there to review your offerings, for I can analyse well only when the material is excellent, and I am sure yours will be.

My hand should be up to doing a page at a time in another day or two, when I shall try and catch up with both Lashy's latest, which is a fresh and decidedly novel delight, and her Mahendar (from Chapter 11), my views on whom might take many of you by surprise.
