Those days, there used to be novels published in weekly magazines. My grandmom used to say that she used to be at the bookstore dot on time to read the next chapter of very interesting stories. These days, we hardly are aware of the anticipation, the wait and the speculation that accompanies such chapter-wise release of stories. So Heera really IS partially blind. 😲 When she mentioned the same the first time, I thought that she cooked up a story like Tracy Whitney.😆 That she did not want to reveal her identity or the real reason behind her daze, which was probably her depression at her dear one's loss. That she wanted to put the short-tempered man on a back-foot. But her being really partially blind lends a whole new angle to the story. Also the reason why she has to hide behind a stranger.

Yes... 😳as I mentioned in another reply, if you go back and look at the excerpts wherever she is, it becomes clear that she depends on other senses than she uses her sight

The best part of the story so far has been the treatment of Heera's handicap. No over-sentimentality. No sympathy. No melodrama. Heera's shortcoming has been treated with grace and dignity.👍🏼 It evokes more respect for the 16 year old instead of the usual wet-kerchief treatments. 👏

Jalal...ahem ...I mean Akbar is getting more interesting with every chapter. 😃 (Royal connections...step-brother of Shehzade????🤔)

One line for Akbar...and 3 paras for Heera... I double checked to make sure this was Sandy's review 😆 and still can't call him Akbar? I didn't want the 'Jalal' shadow looming over him... because unlike Jalal's smirks... and social personality... love for things lighthearted etc... love for things beautiful etc... this Akbar is quite a loner/ with a dark past/ with secrets.. with no family etc etc

And Heera is simply loveable.😳 She has the clarity and judgement to draw the lines, to balance her duties and her pain. No lectures, no pre-conceptions. She has the grace, intelligence and aura of a princess. One can almost feel her pain, loss, bravery and coming to terms with the truth.

True. The differences are obvious. While Jalal was a live wire, Akbar is a brooder. But then Rajat has become synonymous with Jalal and the first page has his pic as the stranger. It will take some more time to draw the lines.😃 And we have had very less of him so far.
