My dear Akka,

Why just the third para? The whole thing is a scream. Especially the following extracts, which are even more in my style than the coincidences para, in which I though the last sentence about the smoking fun was priceless.

-As for Atharvaa, he keeps showing us how hard he works-rather, works out-at being a star. He's frequently shirtless, and his stomach looks like something you'd cover with a tablecloth and place a vase on. Acting, in simpler times, was about putting a character across. Today, it's about protein shakes.

I should add, however, that I like the younger lot of 6 pack abs actors a lot more than the pot-bellied ones of yore, and I definitely want Rajat to get a good bit leaner and meaner.

And without villains, Pugazhendi would just be an ordinary guy, not a hero. The difference, you ask? The former is a creation of the writer, the director. The latter is a creation of an action choreographer who's never heard of physics. Or at least, he follows a different textbook. For every punch, there is an equal and opposite punch. What goes up, especially if it's a henchman, does so in slow motion and must not come down.

The writer of the review, Baradwaj Rangan, is clearly a hard core satirist. Loved it! Thanks a lot or bringing it to my attention. I could not grasp the reference to Ajith since I am nowadays not familiar with Tamil films, but that hardly mattered! I shall look out for this Mr.Rangan regularly from now on.

One quibble. I thought the kind of unstoppable bleeding from a wound was a symptom of haemophilia. I have never heard of this thrombasthenia. Some of Queen Victoria's grandchildren had it, and so they used to tie pillows round the trunks of the trees in the Windsor castle park, to prevent injuries from the rough trunks.

Bharadwaj Rangan writes extremely well - He is an award winning film critic. Superb fluid style and very well rooted also.

Lavanya, you little wretch,

I can see that under all this fake resignation, you are doing your darndest to make me guilty enough to make a comeback! No, no, don't bother to deny it! In fact, I was lost in admiration at such a cleverly camouflaged effort; I like astute youngsters a lot! And of course I was flattered, for it is a great compliment. Thank you so much, my dear.

My comments are, as usual, in blue italics.

I WAS QUITE DISTRAUGT ABOUT YOU STOPPING THE REVIEWS AND HENCE I DID NOT VENTURE ON THE THREAD 😆 Oho! This is the resignation bit! 😉But seriously, I would have hung in there for much longer if there had been enough interest in the re-run and thus in my posts. There was very little of the former, and naturally it affected the latter.

LOOKS LIKE I MISSED OUT QUITE A BIT

HAPPY BIRTHDAY AUNTY!!! PLEASE ACCEPT MY BELATED WISHES FOR A😉 YEAR THAT IS HEALTHY, JOYOUS AND PEACEFUL!!! MAY THE LORD KEEP YOU SAFE AND HAPPY!!! Thank you so much, my darling girl! I need as much of the first item as I can get, and your contribution is most welcome! That will also take care of the last item!
ALSO HOPE THAT YOU WILL START THE REVIEWS OF RAJAT'S NEW SHOW SOON. Well, it is for the show to start soon, because as for me, as they used to say in the old days for the release of a big film, I will be there first day, first show with my post!

I AM THRILLED THAT YOU WILL BE ANALYSING THE FAKE PREG TRACK It should be out next Tuesday or Wednesday, and will cover the telecasts till Episode 114, or that of Sunday next.

I AM EVEN MORE GLAD THAT YOU ARE WORKING ON THE COLLECTION OF ALL YOUR JA POSTS. I LOOK FORWARD TO THAT AWESOME COLLECTION

PLEASE PLEASE PM ME WHEN YOU COMPLETE THE COLLECTION Of course I will. Yeh bhi koyi poochne ki baat hai? I hope to complete it this week. It should fun to go thru all those threads, not just for my posts, but even more so for the vigorous and very interesting discussions.

I READ UP ALL THE POSTS THAT YOU HAD GIVEN US EARLIER ON THIS THREAD AND I ENJOYED EACH AND EVERY ONE IMMENSELY I am glad you did, my dear, for I aim to please, even if I do not cater to any one group,as I was recently accused of doing!

ALSO READ THE SRI JODHA TULAABHARAM ANALYSIS. HILARIOUS 😆

LIKE I WAS MENTIONING TO SOME OTHERS, ON THIS SHOW, WE HAVE WITNESSED THE TULAABHAARAM OF TWO GREAT AMERI WARRIORS - JODHA AND HER BAPUSA 😆

YOUR RUKMINI REFERENCE WAS BANG ON. IT HELPED ME DIGEST THE OTHERWISE HILARIOUS SCENE, SPECIALLY THAT OF JALAL'S RING TILTING THE BALANCE, AND THAT TOO, SO CONVINCINGLY 😆. YOUR COMMENT ON THE COURTIERS WAS FUNNY. IT WAS QUITE INCREDIBLE TO SEE A BEGUM WITHOUT PURDAH SITTING ON THE TULA AND ALL COURTIERS IN ATTENDANCE RIGHT THERE, AND JALAL SITTING FAR AWAY

THE DAAWAT E ISHQ SCENE WHERE JODHA COOKS AND SERVES JALAL WAS AWESOME. JALAL LOOKED SOOO YUMMILICIOUS AND GOBBLE WORTHY. BUT I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE THAT, AS JALAL WAS ENTERING THE ROOM, JODHA WAS SITTING WHILE HAMIDA BANO ETC WERE STANDING She does not seem to get up half the time, and when she does, it is most reluctantly. One can only wonder about Mainavati's upbringing. And when Jalal comes with his gift for her birthday, the way she behaves is the ruddy limit. And it is not as though they had had a huge quarrel just before that either.

JODHA'S BEHAVIOR IS ON A SPEEDY DOWNWARD SPIRAL. WHATEVER JALAL MIGHT DO, HER ONLY RESPONSE IS DISDAIN AND SOUR EXPRESSIONS 😡

I HOPE YOU ARE ENJOYING YOUR BREAK AUNTY, EVEN THOUGH WE ARE STILL COMING TO TERMS WITH IT 😉 Now the use of the word "break", with all that this implies, is very clever!😉HOPE YOUR PAIN IS STILL WITHIN TOLERABLE LEVELS No, my dear, it is beginning to climb from the right hand and the wrist of the right hand up the arm, especially the lower part of the arm. I am now having to type with my lower right arm supported by the table., which makes it somewhat awkward.

TAKE CARE AUNTY Thank you dear, both for your concern as also for this lovely sher, carefully chosen for maximum impact!😉
LEAVING YOU WITH YET ANOTHER SHER, THAT TELLS YOU ABOUT THE CONDITION OF YOUR READERS, LIKE ME

How absolutely lovely! This is a case, Zhanna, of art being better than nature. Who is the artist?

My dear Priya,

Your very sweet birthday wishes are some of the best, and most novel ones I have ever received. Thank you so very much. And good wishes do not have a despatch by date, so don't worry about that!

But as for the "late" reply, I cannot remember when you last commented on any of these threads of mine, so it should be " a maiden reply"!😉 But I am happy that you liked all those posts in this series.

I wrote religiously every week for Mahakumbh till Episode 95, the day after which I had to check into the hospital for my knee replacement surgery. So I could not cover the last 25 episodes. I remember you very well from that forum, which was a varied and interesting one, with Arshi, Shruthi, Shanti (pasumarthisa) and happychappy (Shubha) besides yours truly.

As for Siya ke Ram, I have been watching it ever since it began, and it has been a month now. I really like the fresh approach, with a lot of space devoted to the young Sita, which is, methinks, a first! But I have not done any posts there,or even visited that forum. My experience with the IF forums for mythological serials is that they are full of folks who cannot tolerate the least critique of their aaradhya, and stir up a storm when they spot what looks to them like a critique. It is very difficult to function in that kind of atmosphere, which was also present here during the original telecast, centred on their favourite Jodha. But in a mythological serial, there is the additional and sensitive angle of religion.

So I avoid the genre as a whole, and in any case, during roughly 4 years in the IF, I have written only in 6 forums, and in 3 of those for less than 2 months.

Of course I will PM you for any new posts I might be putting up here. The full list of all my Jodha Akbar posts, both here and in the Dhwani forum, is in the works now and should be ready very soon. If you would like to have the coordinates of all those old posts, you only have to let me know, and I will PM it to you. The discussions were invariably vigorous and very interesting, even more so than my posts themselves.

I feel bad about your missing my posts in this series; if I could be sure of a decent number of readers, I would have hung in there regardless. But that is just what is missing. However, I am going to put up one more post because of what could be called public demand, and it should be out next Tuesday. I will PM you as usual. It will cover the whole false pregnancy track, 10 episodes in all, from No.105 to No. 114. I hope you like it

Sorry for a late reply and belated b'day wishes...

On this special day , i would wish that the joy you have provided all of us with yours posts come back to you and the almighty blesses you with health and prosperity.

It has been a great pleasure reading your posts aunty.

I didn't get an opportunity to read your ja posts the first time around. but reading all of your posts in mk was a pleasure .Every week would wait for the monday to read your take for the week ... and when mk finishes was happy that you are making a thread on the rerun of JA This post is just made to appreciate that though we remain as a silent reader ,thanks for all the pm's sent...

We understand the enormous effort you put in through to make the posts and though its sad that you wouldn't be doing it . Please do pm aunty if you are making any more posts in other threads ..

I wish you could do a weekly post on new siya ke ram - it would be interesting to see this perspective of ramayana through your posts if its not an ordeal to you and if you are interested .

My dear Zhanna,

What a beautiful, glittering bunch of velvety, deep red roses! Thanks a lot for them and also for your warm and thoughtful message.

As for choosing between the two bouquets, for all that I adore red roses, I would go for the second one. It is very artistic.

Dear Shyamala!

I was sure that the second picture is more like it. 😃

There were two artist. They are often confused who painted this picture.

The artist Paul de Longpre (1855-1911) and Raoul de Longpre (1843 -...?)

Here's another picture.

Dear Shyamala,
Thank you for your response.
A few more samples of Bharatwaj Rangan's satire are "Inji Iduppazhagi" and "Urumeen" reviews.
Also see the reaction of the readers in their comments of his Kamalahasan starrer "Thoongavanam" review!
