" I do not propose to compare this scene with the similar one in the film, or Rajat with Hrithik, but Rajat's Jalal did look at one with the Divine Spirit when he finally lifted a serene face to the heavens (or rather the room ceiling!).

More to the point, Jodha Begum, who had never seen Hrithik in action, was quite satisfied with the Shahenshah in action, and even more so with this unimpeachable evidence of the existence of a dil in the imperial chest cavity."

So what if hamara Jalal was not as good as Hrithik. We love him still...😳

My dear Zhanna,

What is adjika? Is it something sharp to the taste but good for the digestion, like ginger, what is called adrak in Hindi?

I am glad you enjoyed this one; it was mostly pure satire, as I had mentioned in the Statutory Warning. Not that I ever thought that warning would be needed!😉

Of course Jodha has many good qualities, and I have written about them, most recently in my take on Episode 81, The darkness descends. But she has many more exasperating qualities, like self-righteousness, the conviction that she is always right, and the total inability to see anything from another's point of view. Hers is a poorly written character. By the midpoint of the serial, as Jalal and everyone else put her on a pedestal and started worshipping her, it became too much for me and I quit analysing the show. Let me see when the "quitting point" comes this time!

I do not quite understand what you mean by " where Jalal Sharifuddin severed hand". When was this? Are you referring to the scene where Jalal ordered the shoe thief's feet to be cut off? That was harsh, but such punishments for theft were common in that era. Why, even today, in Saudi Arabia and many other Gulf countries, the punishment for theft is for the hand of the thief to be severed. And till the 19th century in England, young men and even teenagers were sentenced to lifelong transportation to the penal colonies in Australia, often for stealing just a loaf of bread. Horrible, but that was how it was back then, and is still now in some parts of the world.

Thank!
I as Kerensky: so beautiful imagined all that I invented myself ...but I will always prefer adjika, than rahat-lukum (Turkish Delight). Sarcasm better pink sentimentality. 😛
But I'm happy to wait, suddenly still be reason to rejoice good qualities Jodha and just to derive pleasure until Rajat Tokas yet gets pleasure from shooting.
If you have not watched the series where Jalal Sharifuddin severed hand, I am very glad for you. Jalal and Sharifuddin reminded evil aunt of "Zita and Gita".
Our remarkable actor Oleg Tabakov, about actors who overplayed, said the sentence: "too bustled about face".

I deliberately did not say that Rajat was not as good as Hrithik, you wicked girl!😉 I praised Rajat separately. The two of them are very different one from the other, and I never compare their Jalals.

As for loving Rajat's Jalal, no one has written more in praise of him, and well deserved praise too, than I have, right from June 30, 2013!

Undoubtedly!👍🏼

But I say that he was not as good as Hrithik which IS the truth.

His dance certainly lacked the fluidity and grace of Hrithik's.😕

Well, Adiana, my fingers are beginning to hurt again these days, and to spare them, I have used most of my original Dil mil gaya! post here, but you did not recognise it because you probably were not around when I wrote that in October 2013.

It is a fun post, and I loved writing it, then and now. I hope to be posting twice more this week, once for Episodes 85-86, including the mahaepisode, and once more for the Kali mandir diptych. The Ratanpur Qila affair will not come this week, unless I am mistaken.

There are good parts in JA even after the Ratanpur Qila affair, the Badal-Kajri track, the Benazir track and the dhakka. I had done a lot of really emotional writing about the latter two parts, and the first was pure delight! Then there is the end of the Sujamal track, for which I wrote my Shakespearian heights post. That was the end of it for me.

Will be waiting for you to get back to us!

Dear Shyamala, I was waiting for this post of yours! As I'm not watching the rerun episodes since Wednesday last and won't be watching this entire week either, your posts will keep me updated and entertained with the antics of our Begumsa so thoroughly in love with her 24 carat gold plated halo 😆 😆 my regret is that I'll miss the Kali mandir episode. It was one of my favourite and Rajat was brilliant. Will wait for your post on that later. I'll be back to watching from next Monday which will be the culmination of the Ratanpur qila and with that ends the best of JA

Well, my dear, it is very tough for anyone else to achieve the fluidity and grace of Hrithik, in this sequence or otherwise. He is a superb dancer. But if you judge their expressions when portraying that moment of epiphany, Rajat too was very good, and he was in no way less than Hrithik

Not worth my time, couldn't even make it through half the post.

dear donjas you have taken it too personally! one thing i would like to clarify, first of all shyamala never caters to one group, her posts are like a mirror, simple reflection of her thoughts and many times she has written against jalal's characterization and rajat's ott expressions..that is why she stopped writing once the script went kaput and i have read her posts where she has praised paridhi's jodha if she felt she is worthy of praise and once she did appreciate paridhi's performance in a particular scene more than rajat's!

you can present your counter views and that is the beauty of this forum and this thread and whats the harm in sounding funny, after all its just a serial and we are here for entertainment, she has that quality of good sense of humour which many of us don't! i think rather than feeling singled out here and taking it personally join the gang and share your views or just take it easy and stay away..its just my opinion! but accusing her of appeasing a certain group is wrong because i know she is not that type!

and also donjas if we just write good stuff to appease the majority and remain politically correct to the T then where is the flavour and where is the fun!..shyamala is the only person who writes good about both the characters and actors if she feels like and she is being honest in her thoughts, they are not fabricated to make it sound politically correct to appease the majority in the fear of hurting them! in fact she is quite straight forward in her thoughts!

anyway, we do like your counter thoughts as that makes the thread even more interesting otherwise it will get boring if we all share the same thoughts, isn't it? so please do write your counter thoughts and we will wait for your return here😊
