A divisibility puzzle...

4 farmers pluck down the mangoes from a tree that is to be shared among the four of them. They don't count it but heap it up and go home hioing to come back in the evening and divide the mangoes. By evening they get tired.

One of them asks his wife to go to the field, divide the heap into 4 and bring home a fourth. The wife takes her child along. Divides the heap into 4. One is left. She gives it to her child, takes one fourth, heaps up the rest and goes home.

The second lady comes. Not knowing that only 3/4ths are left she divides the whole thing into 4. One remains that she gives her child

She takes a fourth home and heaps up the rest. The other 2 too do the same.

Now how many mangoes did the farmers pluck?
