If salim married only one girl like 21st century then its cheating but he had 25 wives so with every new wife it means he was cheating the past ones. In polygamy it is given man marries many but loves one or two only or only two three get all prominence and power and love too.

With Akbar it was Ruqaiah, Salima, Jodha, Daulat Shad etc with jehangir it was Maan Bai, Jagat Gosian and Nur Jahan with Shah Jahan it was Mumtaz etc

Since majority are arranged marriages for political reasons without caring for approval of groom or bride the idea of cheating never arises like in 21st century where only wife or husband is norm

Again in 21st century many people have girl friends or boy friends and love them too but may get married for various reasons to another. Many do not reveal this to their spouse of their love affairs not to cheat their partners because to maintain peace in family life. But having affair after marriage is cheating in 21st century. In 16th century where commoners themselves had many wives the concept of loyalty was different.

Shah Jahan loved mumtaz was engaged to her at 14 years but before marrying her at 19 years he married 4 more women, he married more women after marrying Mumtaz, had cocubbines too as that was a tradition. Did that mean he cheated Mumtaz not really, that was norm of those times?

If Salim does not tell Maan of anarkali after marriage it is cheating by 21st century standards not 16th century in reality. But all know that this affair shall not continue to after marriage as Salim shall revolt and anarkali shall be killed or sent off.

Anar is maan's best friend,childhood friend actually,isnt it a very bad type of backstabbing? I mean she just so innocently told anar to keep an eye on salim when she is not around and take care of him, imagine the horror when she finds out that same girl is the mistress of her husband. and she has been made to think salim loves her and chose her to marry. And salim knows that too. So yes its kind of a betrayal to her, when salim himself had went to her and pretended as though he really does like her, and wanted to spend lot of time with her.More tha salim and anar, its maanbai who has been treated unfairly by everyone, be it her fiancee, her best friend, her father, her other relatives, her buddy daniyal, who made her falsely believe salim is mad for her. And now all that will come crashing down, and lets see what options the girl have, either get trapped in a loveless marraige, mind you not just loveless salim seems to have no intention to even interact with her or see her face ever. Or a lifelong social stigma of being rejected by the future emperor , and remaining unmarried whole life. wHEN it comes to that century, I think any girl would pick the first option, which is very sad

Actually the thing is that prem, nobody is totally right or totally wrong in this situation. The circumstances are such that noone can react the other way than they are reacting. Lets think, if Salim hadnt been so vocal about his amer meeting with anarkali and hatred for her, to haider and ruqaiya, anarkali would not have been a dancer today, she would have been just a commoner living with her mother father happily. And then Jalal may have agreed because marrying a commoner isnt that bad,salim married many commoners and jalal didnt wall those wives.If maan bai had fallen for daniyal, that would have been the best thing ever. she and daniyal would be a happy couple, so would salim anar, and so would akdha, being free of family clashes. But the way things went,if we really have to blame someone here for being actually evil, intentionally wrong, its ruqaiya, who filled up a child with opium and hatred so much that he lost his personality and affection for his parents, and haider who exploited an innocent girl anar just to make salim and jalal clash to take revenge for his fathers death, when his mother perfectly understood his father god damn deserved it.I am actually glad that psycho character is gone, I remember they showed him sticting the mouth of a dancer🥱and he was kind of enuchlike
