CHAPTER 6
The sun was raised in Agra and everything was going as per routine. Nandhini went to Jalal's room to wake him up but Nandhini was little surprised today coz he never missed his sword practice and before sun rises he was ready with the sword from last many days. Suddenly she got tensed and thought " Is Bhaijaan ok???? or he is not well???????" with that Nandhini rushed to Jalal's room. As she went in and saw the view she was not able to belive that. JODHA WAS SLEEPING ON THE GROUND WHILE HER HEAD AND HER RIGHT HAND WAS STRECHED ON THE BED AND JALAL WAS HOLDING HER HAND AND SLEEPING. Nandhini's happiness knew no bounds today. She was in seventh sky today by seeing both of them together. She joined her hand and prayed " Hey Khana thanks a lot for such a beautiful view. I know both of them have started loving each other. Only one request just make them realize soon." and she was about to go when her hand crashed with a pot and with that Jodha got up. But before she could see her Nandhini ran away from there. Jodha got up with a pleasing smile on her face. She was about to get up when she felt a strong grip on her hand. She turned to see what was it and to her shock Shahenshah was catching her hand very tightly. For a second she blushed at this action of his. then she came back to her sences and slowly lifted his hand and removed her hand gently. She turned to go when she heard some murmuring sound. She turned to see that he was murmuring something. She went near him to hear it clearly. He murmured " Don't leave me and go ammijaan I m scared plzzz ammijaan don't leave me." again and again he was murmuring the same sentence. Jodha was shocked to hear this. She had tears in her eyes. She could clearly feel this pain of his. She was not able to take it any more and went away from there to her room.
All the while Jodha was thinking of the incident happened in the morning. She thought " Something is hurting him. Something is wrong in his childhood. I need to know this". She was so much immersed in thoughts that she didn't even notice that Nandhini had come to see her. Nandhini felt that Jodha was engrossed in her own thoughts. So she went near her, kept her hand on her shoulder by which Jodha came back to her sences. Jodha asked.
JODHA:- Nandhini when did you come?????? I m sorry I didn't notice you.
NANDHINI:- Its ok Jodha I can understand but can I know what is the reason behind this?????(Jodha wanted to know about him, his family and his closed once and the best person who can tell her about this was Nandhini. So she asked curiously.)
JODHA:- Nandhini leave all this can you tell me something about shahenshah and his family and mainly about his childhood????? I noticed in yesterdays dinner that he was not giving attention to his own mother and was fully engrossed with Maham Anga and who is Ruqaiya ????? How did she become his fianc????? ( while saying this she was little hurt but she ignored and continued) and who are is other family members??? he told me yesterday that there more people to meet?????( Nandhini could understand her curiosities. She said calm tone)
NANDHINI:- Calm down... Calm down Jodha so many questions together ??????? I will answer to all of them. Shahenshah Jallaludin Mohommad, the king of Hindustan, The lion of the Mughal empire.For the world he is a ruthless king but for me he is a lonely person who only needs love and care in his life. While Malika-e-azzam was married to Badshah Humayun he was in exile. She got pregent during that time. When she was 9 months pregent with Bhaijaan, they reached Umerkot where Rana Shanghar gave refuge to them. That's why when she saw you she was delighted. Shahenshah was born in Umerkot. During that time to Badshah was on exile so Malika-e-aazam had to leave shahenshah in the hands of Maham Anga ( while saying this Nandhini had anger on her face) and that lady has turned no stones to make the mother and son seperate from each other by giving her fake love to him. (Now turning to Jodha) Jodha not even single day there was when Malika-e-aazam has craved for her son, She cried every night for him by seeing his clothes and all stuff. After that they were in exile for many years and in those years Shahenshah was trained by Khan Baba in war fares. Due to that my Bhaijaan is illiterate.( jodha was shocked to hear this that the king of Hindustan could not read and write. Nandhini continued) . During a war my parents died, I was crying there for help nobody came. Then I saw a boy elder to me and an elderly man there. I went to them for asking help. BHAIJAAN SAID "Khan Baba, why don't we take her with us to Agra???" to which he agreed happily. Maham Anga hated hindus so she never accepted me but Bhaijaan and Khan Baba never made me feel that I m not his own. Then Badashah won the war and after about 15 years everyone came back to Agra. That time even Ruqaiya was there coz her father died in a battle which was fought for Badashah. So he decided to get them married after a certain age but Bhaijaan never liked her. From that age she tried to get Bhaijaan under her control but Bhaijaan is Bhaijaan no one can control him till he never allows them. Then due to sudden death of Badashah at the age of 13 he had to sit on the thrown of Mughal empire. He was given the responcibility the whole Hindustan. From that day he forgot to smile, forgot to be happy. He was always on wars and all. When ever he won any war along with the treasure he would also get ladies. If he likes them he spents his nights with them till he is saticefied and then the other girl come. like that he has many woman in his life but he never married them. ( all the while Jodha was listening to Nandhini attentively and her expression were changing according to Nandhini's statement. She felt very bad for him. She wanted to take him in his arms and take all his pain that he has suffered for so many years. she had tears in her eyes as if she was going through this pain, frustration, anger all together. She was lost in deep thoughts. By Nandhini's voice she again came back to her sences Jodha asked)
JODHA:- Nandhini how must he had felt naa so many pains and struggles in his life how did he survive??????
NANDHINI:- Jodha some good things also happened in his life. I and Abdul Bhai were always there with him. His brothers and sisters love him a lot. And Khan Baba and Atgha Shahab love him like his own son. Atgha Shahab and His wife Jiji Anga are loyals to Mughals since Badshah humayun's exile and Khan Baa is from the time of Badashah Babur. His step brother Mirza Hakim and His step sisters Bakshi Banu, Rafiya Banu and Nigar Banu are his life. He can do anything for their happiness.
JODHA ( in exciting tone):- Are is sisters married ?????? (here Nandhini's face became serious. Jodha understood that some thing is wrong she asked in worried tone) What happened Nandhini??????
NANDHINI (replied in worried tone):- Jodha Rafiya was going to get married but at the nike of time when she was going to come down for the ceremony she slipped from the stairs and fell with such a force that her lower body got paralyzed. So from that day she is on chair( jodha was shocked by this revelation)
JODHA:- WHAT??????And his other sisters???????
NANDHINI:- Nigar, After this incident she took a oath that she will never marry and she also had a reason that her mother, Badashah Humayun's wife Chand Biwi is not stable by her mental condition.( Jodha got another shock by this statement of Nandhini )
JODHA:- WHAT???????? And how did that happened ?????? ( Nandhini was about to answer but a guard came and told)
GUARD:- I m sorry to interrupt but Shahenshah is searching for the royal lady in Diwan-e-aam. (suddenly Nandhini remembered that she had to see some important work of that empire.)
NANDHINI (in worried tone):- ooohhh nnooo!!!!! Jodha I have to go to Diwan-e-aam. I will talk to you later.
JODHA:- That's ok. You go and attend the Darbar, till that time I will take bath get ready.(Nandhini said bye to her and she called her servents to take make the hamam ready. She was about to go in, when a maid came and told her)
MAID:- AADAB!!!!! Malika-e-aazam Hamida Banu wants to meet you in her room.
JODHA:- Ok tell her that I will be there shortly.( Maid said ok and went away from there. Then Jodha took bath quickly and went to meet Malika-e-aazam. As she entered her room Malika-e-azzam was waiting eagerly for her in the meeting room. She got up from her seat and went to her with a warm smile and said)
HAMIDA BANU:- Welcome Rajkumari, come have a seat. Will you like to have something?????
JODHA:- No Malika-e-aazam, I m fine and I m sorry to make you wait.
HAMIDA BANU:- Its ok my child I know the reason of being late.( all the while Jodha had tensed expression. Hamida asked) is everything ok Rajkumari??????
JODHA( With hesitation):- Can I ask you something personal??????
HAMIDA BANU:- My child there is nothing personal between us. You are here to solve our problem and you have the every right to know everything about us. Go ahead.
Jodha was very pleased with her behaveiour. She continued.
JODHA:- Malika-e-aazam , I heard from Nandhini that Badashah's other wife Chand Biwi has some mental problem. She has lost her mental balance. Can you tell me how???????
HAMIDA BANU:- It was Badashah's sister Gulbadan Begums marriage with Bairam Khan. On the day of wedding when she was cuming out of her room. Suddenly her hand dashed to a candle stand which was near the curtain and it had set fire in the room where she died. Chand Biwi was very close to her. She could not handle that incident. So from that day she lost her mental stability.
Jodha was going through another shock. First Shahenshah's childhood, then truth about everyone in this house, then about his sisters disability and now this. Suddenly Jodha's mind clicked another question she asked.
JODHA:- Did Badashah had any other sister??????
HAMIDA BANU:- Yes 2 More, Gulrang and Gulrez and even they died before their nikaah due to some or other reason.
Now Jodha was very clear that this is not a co-oincidence. Some thing is wrong in the family. She took leave from Hamida Banu and went to her room with thousand of questions in mind to which she wanted answers for it
