Chapter 9

Jodha's anxiety reaches its height...she was about to say something when...Jalal opens the drawer beneath the bed and takes a bedsheet and 2 cushions...while placing it on the couch he says " u have mistaken me Ms...oh i m sorry Mrs.Khan...but don't think that i ll allow u to sleep in peace on my bed..ok"

Jodha : whatever...

Jalal was already irritated with her attitude so while she fell asleep he went to the left side of the bed and suddenly pulled the bedsheet...Jodha fell on the floor and got really scared...

Jalal : (teasingly)What happened Jodha? Saw some bad dreams or did u just experience tremors...(with a sly smile) dont ever play with me coz i am a better player than u...good night sweet heart...now u can sleep peacefully...coz now my heart and mind both are at peace...

Jodha : you...u r so mean...Jallad...

Jalal : thank u for the complement...and yeah plz switch off the lights as its near my bedside...good night...

Lights off...Next Morning...6 am

Jalal was trying to wake up Jodha by striking her...but she was in deep slumber...

Jodha : maa 5 more mins...

Jalal : oye... wake up...get ready...aur rituals baaki hain so get ready within an hour...

Jodha wakes up(eyes still closed) but doesn't realise where she is and thinks she is still at her house...

Jodha : stand in front of me na...

Jalal: what? (he does what she says)

Jodha : Maa just come closee na..(Jodha search for his face and pulls Jalal's ears in order to bring his face close to her...and now their faces are inches apart..Jalal is all confused...Jodha smiles and opens her eyes saying good morn...but couldn't complete it as the face she saw was not of her mother but her husband... )

she realised where she was...and feels a bit embarrassed...and gives Jalal a sheepish smile..and rushed to the washroom...

She freshens and comes out...looks at Jalal who was already decked up in a simple traditional outfit was watching business news but as soon as he heard the noise of the door...turned to look at Jodha and smiled at her...

Jodha : i...i am sorry for pulling ur ears...

Jalal: but why did u do that?for a sec i thought u were taking revenge for pulling the bedsheet yesterday...

Jodha : no (smiles) hmm..in the morning the first thing that i look at is my mother's face...she usually comes to wake me up and in this way i pull her close to me...i am habituated of doing this since childhood...so...

Jalal : oh (smiles ) so u think if u see ur mother's face then ur day goes well...hmm btw my face is also lucky for people...well ammi must have informed u about today's ritual...so get ready within an hour...she nods in a yes

Jalal : waise u r not angry with me for pulling ur bedsheet?

Jodha: (smiles) well at that point of time i was really irritated but thinking about it now...feels like laughing...and moreover i could see a different face of urs...something different from ur formal talks and also came to know how naughty u can be...and i must tell u..i like that Jalal...so Jalal Khan isn't that formal all the time...(blushes)or rather i should say atleast when he is with his wife...hai na..

Jalal smiles...(to himself-i don't know why but when u are around i feel like doing something mischievious...i just enjoy it...that irritated yet beautiful face of urs...) There was silence in the room...Jodha took the initiative of breaking the silence...

Jodha : uss din u asked for Adham's case file..what was that for?

Jalal : oh well i had a meeting with a New York based company...and they got a news regarding the dismissal of one of the directors so...they wanted to know the details of the case so i asked u to mail it...

Jalal was about to ask regarding the gift but got a msg...and started reading it... While leaving the room...

Jalal : wear something traditional and yeah don't scare me by putting those pancakes on ur face...like the wedding day especially the nikaah...shaadi wala was still fine...u scared my nephew...u look ok ok without makeup but with make up ...(he gives a weird expression)

Jodha : (irritated)first of all thanks to ur cousin Ruqaiya coz she is the one who did the make up...and...and...(oh god i m not getting anything to retort)

Jalal : and what??are u out of words?

Jodha : and if i m late u r the one to be blamed...coz u r talking and irritating me and wasting my time...

Jalal goes downstairs and Jodha goes to the washroom...7am..

Hamida in Jalal's bedroom

Hamida : JOdha are u ready beta...

Jodha : yeah Ammi i was about to come downstairs but...handling this lehenga is so difficult...

Hamida : you look beautiful...This peach colour suits u...and the lehenga yeah it is a bit difficult to handle but beta u r only supposed to wear traditional so if u want to wear a saree

Jodha : no Ammi this is better moreover..i don't know how to drape a saree so...shall we leave...

Jodha comes downstair everyone was looking at her but there was a pair of eyes which made her a bit uncomfortable...It was none other than Jalal...he was staring at her...

Jalal :(to himself) she somehow manages to look beautiful in all kinds of dresses...but why is she doing this robotic walk...

Jodha was taking each nd every step carefully...but all of a sudden ruqaiya shouted her to look up as she wants to click a pic as soon as she took a step ahead...there she goes...she stamped on her skirt...fell down...Jalal came running and helped her in getting up...he noticed that she was feeling a bit embarrassed so he tried making her comfortable by saying " its ok...kisi ki nazar lag gaya tha jo ab uthar chukka hai...so don't think about it any more...aur phir yahaan sab hamare hi toh hein"

Jodha felt a bit comfortable...Suddenly she saw her cousin coming to her...and without looking at jalal she went near her cousin they hugged each other...and she side hugged a man standing beside her cousin...Jalal noticed the affection that she had for them...he felt a bit left out...

Jalal : (to himself) who's this guy?she is hugging him so tightly...definitely not a cousin...coz i have met them all...

Jodha : Jalal just come here na...

Jalal : yeah Jodha...

Jodha : meet my cousin Sukanya and her husband Vikas...

They both shake their hands...

Jalal : how are u?...what do u do?

Jodha : (to herself) oh god he has started his interview session...

Jodha to Jalal : Jalal they both are Pilots in the navy...

Jalal : thats great...but how come we never met...

Jodha : thats coz they are newly married couple and were busy in their honeymoon...

Sukanya and Vikas roll their eyes

Vikas : Jo stop joking yaar...no Jalal actually we had to report to our duty so... 2 days after the wedding we left...

Jalal : oh...

Vikas : but u might have seen the pics...

Jodha (to herself) janaab ko time mile tab na...(to Vikas) might have forgotten...hain na Jalal...

Jalal gave her an angry look...The conversation between Jalal and Vikas continued...they found a good friend in each other within few hours of meeting...

Vikas : So what u are saying is that u never met Jodha before this marriage proposal happened ?Cant believe...We thought its kind of love cum arranged marriage...but its purely an arranged marriage..so what did u like the most in Jodha?

Jalal : (trying to change the topic)Well i think u know Jodha better than me...

Vikas : Yeah i know Jodha for the past 2 years...Sukanya and mine was a love cum arranged marriage..Jodha and all her other cousins new about our relationship...well she is like a sister to me...u haven't answered me yet...
