Hi,
I don't know how long the good times will last but considering the track record of the CV's, after a good one there is usually a stinker. I won't be in a mood then to comment, so here it is instead-
1 I personally don't think the Indian T.V audience is mature enough to accept a detailed analysis of the Infallibility decree. Witness the protests over the minutest of things concerning religion and you may get my point. There are protests over films like PK, protests over books like Wendy's book on Hinduism and protests over art like M.F Hussain had to face. In such a climate it does not make sense to go the religious route. So the quick way out that the CV's have chosen may unfortunately be the right one.Lesson here for Ekta, don't milk the Jodha conversion issue too much, it could boomerang on you. Misunderstanding and hearsay spread fast and cause unnecessary controversy.
2 It is known to historians that Persia and India in that era did not engage in full scale war. So obviously the situation that is developing in the serial is all 'Natkiya Rupantar'. Having said that these two nations were engaged in hostilities over parts of Afghanistan, so it is not all the imagination of the CV's. Besides if there is any King who could have been a serious challenge to Akbar in the battlefield, it was Shah Abbas of Persia( I am assuming it is Shah Abbas because Akbar took Multan during his reign.)
Shah Abbas is regarded as a Great in Iran. He was a superb military taction, with a a formidable infantry and a truly frightening cavalry. He had a long series of victories all over Asia and Europe. He even gave the Turkish Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent a worthy challenge. Shah Abbas never took on Akbar because he had too much respect for the Mughal military but if he had, who knows what might have happened.
Besides, he was just the man who would have taken umbrage at Akbar's secular policies. Shah Abbas blinded and murdered his sons in a paranoid rage. More pertinently for us, he tortured and killed a Georgian princess who refused to convert to Islam.
