A saying goes like this
The person who is most difficult to love needs love the most
This is true of many great men. Great men have great egos, they do not listen to well wishers, they love flattery and people who keep them on pedestal, they want all to do as they say etc
Akbar has gone on this path. He always had an ego but Jodha soothed that ego to make him realize others pain, he never listen to well wishers be it hamida, Jodha, man singh, birbal etc his true well wishers, now he suspects his best friend man singh of trying to kill him (why? I did not understand. Man Singh was concerned that he was drunk and may get himself killed and pulled off the sword, may be when sober he shall think that he was wrong but precap says something else only)
But an even bigger mistake that not even many great people do is equating themselves with God almighty. Can anything be more absurd than an human created by God claim himself to be one or a shadow of the creator? Never can a man create another human or animal or cure disease or stop death? Nooo so how can anyone be equated to a God.
But Akbar has done this error. In his ego he has listened to his flatterers and done three errors that no human can do - Equate himself to God
The other error he did is make citizens angry. Which king can survive without support of citizens or awam? No one not in 16th century not in 21st century
A king before or a PM/CM now only survive on the post because of love and support of citizens. Else world has seen how people have toppled great Kings, great Presidents etc when they did not want them.
Akbar became a great emperor not only because of his street smart politics but by love of the citizens. Citizens prospered and had peace so they allowed him to stay as emperor. All know why Mughal empire declined because of bad policies and fratricide between Mughal princes. But fratricide existed in many kingdoms but they survived even till today in india in England etc so why Mughal really declined because of wrong citizen antogising policies(started by shah jahan, Aurangzeb etc).
So how can Akbar assume that he can treat his citizens badly, force them to leave their ancestral land and remain a great king and peace remain in kingdom. Will Akbar not get angry if someone tell him to leave agra fort/delhi fort where he stayed all life? Will Akbar allow anyone to relocate humayun tomb, babar tomb etc? Never he will go to war to protect them. So why double standard to citizens? They have so many memories in that land, their family members buried there etc how can they leave?
Further what makes Akbar think this success only he achieved? This is collective efforts of so many people Babar who established empire, humayun who won back kingdom, Bairam khan who saved and expanded it till Akbar was big, Maham who taught him politics, Hamida who never remarried, Ruqaiah whose father gave his portion to Akbar, Salima whose mother and Gulbadan who never left humayun through thick and thin, Jodha who changed him from egoistic to better human, man singh who won him man wars, peer mohammad who won him wars etc so many commanders, salim, murad and daniyal who went to war field at small ages to expand and protect kingdom and lost their childhoods in battle fields, all soldiers who fought for him, all soldier families who lost their life for him. So how can Akbar take all credit for success when so many lost their lives, lost their childhood etc to make his empire and him a great emperor. A person may be great but many others contribute to making him great and are reason for his success.
A great human is someone who gives credit where it is deserved. Now Akbar will start losing all supporters because he thinks he and only he is great and all success is because of him. Further now he thinks he is God on earth and people do not like any human comparing himself to God almighty that is like blasphemy. So people shall start opposing him. That shall include his family like man singh, salim etc
Now Akbar is acting paranoid he sees thing where they are not?
He thinks man singh tried to kill him
He thinks villagers are doing bhagawat
Next he will think Salim wants to kill him as he wants to marry anarkali etc
Wonder when he will get back to normal. By then many people shall go away from him.
Once some person heart breaks its tough to mend it back like before.
We already see a Salim whose heart broke as a 7-8 year old kid not mended yet now I am not sure how long all these people take to forgive him. Salim as per history took time till 34 years to get a normal relation with Akbar. Wonder how others fare?
