The most poignant scene of JA yesterday was Salim wanting to tell truth to Akbar while Jodha wanted to hide
Is this not typical of so many family in 21st century where mothers try to hide fault and errors of their kids from fathers to stop fights and finally it leads to big issues later?
I think Salim did right thing by speaking his heart out to Akbar in intoxication. A person usually speaks truth when intoxicated
Salim spoke truth twice both while intoxicated he revealed what was in his heart
Once in amer he told he loves anarkali very much
Second time yesterday he said he hated his father and felt uncomfortable staying in agra fort and following Akbar's rules and regulations
There is nothing wrong in both as he spoke from his heart. But why does he speak truth only in intoxication and why he is scared to tell truth when normal. Previously also Salim was scared when he hit Qadir and hid from parents. That is sign of an unhealthy child-parent relationship. A child no matter what must be groomed to come and tell parents everything about themselves the parent must build that trust in the child. If the child has no trust then fear comes and they hide everything.
I would prefer my family or friends telling me truth about what they feel for me rather than act goody goody in front and back stab me at every given opportunity in future.
Especially when a person is in powerful position and rich like Akbar he has more chamchas than real admirers who try to please him and yes boss types. So to get reality check a Salim(or birbal) kind of person is always required in real life.
Atleast now Akbar has two options
One to find why Salim hates him and his rules regulations and does not want to stay in palace and try to correct them
Second is now he knows Salim hates him so he is not in any illusion of his love/loyalty and can pre empt future actions against him
Now why is Salim so angry at Akbar
One reason is he always takes decision unilateral without asking Salim like his wedding or walihaad post etc. These are important decisions of life and least a child expect is parents ask him what profession he likes? Whom he wants to marry? Because if human not happy with profession and marriage he cannot live happily till death. He will just regret all life why he choose this profession this wife etc. And in india elders always think that they should decide their child life as their parents decided their life. This cycle continues generation after generation leading to frustrated family members and citizens. Now can Salim remove anger on his mom-dad no so instead like all humans do he shall remove anger on himself by drinking/hafim etc and ignoring his wives or getting angry on subordinates and removing his frustrations on them.
Is this not what everyone is doing even today?
Teacher is angry at being forced to choose profession or has fights at home and remove anger by not teaching properly or punishing children badly.
The child shall keep anger in mind and when it becomes big shall rag smaller kids
Manager has frustrations at home and shouts at subordinates
When subordinate becomes manager he will remove anger on his subordibnates
Scooter or car driver angry with life and over work goes and rams into nearest pedestrian
Is this not what every person is doing removing their anger on somebody/something on another person in life? Its a cycle that never stops.
So all of us must be aware a person may keep quiet and act well when we misbehave and force him to live as per our desires because he has no choice or option and dependent on us but he shall go and remove that frustration and anger on others who are less fortunate than him or who depend on him its a cycle.
Every human is an individual and desires freedom especially on important matters of life. When that freedom is denied by anyone be it family, work place, profession etc that leads to frustration, rage, self destruction, addictions, unhappy family relation etc
That is where a Salim's rage is justified in some sense. These are warning signals as a kid he had no option but to take punishments and go to war field. But now he is no child that Akbar shall slap, shout and order around and he will do that. Now he shall start opposing what he feels is wrong, what he dislikes, what he does not want to do. So pressuring him more and getting angry will only complicate matters. A parent, an elder, a boss etc must know when to stop least the person explodes or does bhagawat. The threshold is nearing for Salim and Akbar instead of understanding this and trying to find where he went wrong is pushing his limits.
Its like in circus you hit a animal 100 times it takes it 101 time it attacks the trainer. Its same with an human too. Instead of Akbar understanding this he is going on getting angry, shouting, slapping Salim for how long? Anarkali affair will explode and that is when Salim will defy Akbar not only for denying his love but for all the past punishments and past wrongs.
