Chapter- 19
After sometime later when the dressing is completed, Jodha asks Jalal to sleep, but Jalal disagrees saying that he has to go to DWK in an hour Jodha requests him to sleep for at least some time. Hearing her pleas he finally decides to rest, this relifed Jodha as she want him to get some rest before taking any such hasty decisions in DWK. Jalal sleeps on Jodha'a lap and Jodha supports her back with the pillow. Jodha releases the tears which she had been holding back, her inner turmoil troubling her, that whether she should forgive Rukaiya or not. She could have forgiven her only if she had only hurted her but she could not forgive her for having desires to kill Hassan. But then how difficult would it be for Jalal to give her punishment she is his best friend, he has shared half of his life with her and all his secrets.How painful it might have been to absorb this truth of his best friend. Jodha knew one fact if Rukaiya would have allowed her to feed Hussain then Zennat and Qasim would not have stayed here and maybe her children would have been alive. Rukaiya's hatred and jealously towards her and ruined everything. She composes herself she knows she cannot stop Jalal from punishing Rukaiya, because the father inside him is hurt more compared to the lover. But how could she ease is pain? After a while she leaves all her thoughts aside and wakes, he gets ready for DWK and so does Jodha. Everybody looks at them. Jodha goes and sits on her seat and so does Jalal on his throne. Jalal looks at Jodha who looked worried; he gives her a reassuring look that everything will be fine. Jodha smiles, but she only had the clue of the inner turmoil she is going through. After a while Rukaiya is brought in DWK Jalal calls a Maulvi to everyone's surprise. Jalal clarifies the reason for DWK to be held unduly and also clarifies all the crimes committed by Rukaiya. Jodha who had been staring down at the ground could hear gasps and murmurs. Jalal asks the maulvi to begin the procession of divorce, everyone in DWK are further more dumfounded. Rukaiya begs Jalal to not divorce her but Jalal pays no heed to her pleas, he says - Tum har ek insane ya cheej ko hamse cheen na chacti thi na jo mere dil ke karren thi, hai na Rukaiya, Chache voh mere bache ho ya meri mohabat. Aj mai tumse kuch cheeno ga jise ke bad tum kabhi kisi ka kuch bhi cheene layak na raho. Tumhari mohabbat Audha aur rotba hai na. Aj hum tum se hum yeh dono cheen lenge, tumhe talak dekar. Phir hum dekhenge tum kis par rob jama sakti ho. Rukaiya keeps on pleading and Jalal keeps on acting like a dumb. Jalal after sometime of procession of the rituals.finally says the three golden words- talaq, talaq, talaq, the whole DWK is engulfed in utter silence. Jalal clarifies his voice and says- Aj ke bad nahi tum humari biwi ho aur nahi hum tumhare shohar, 3 dino ke andar - andar tum mughal saltanat se bahar honi chaiye. Kyunki agar hume yeh pata chala kit um mughal saltant mai ho toh tumhe saza-e-maut mile gi. Aur kal subha hote hi tum mehel se bhar nikal jana varna humse bura koi nahi hoga.DWK barkhast Rukaiya stands there absorbing all what Jalal said Jalal summons the soldiers and asks them to take Rukaiya. Rukaiya deep down wanted revenge. She is humiliated today like never before. She could not bear this humiliation. There is a storm going inside her, a fire ready to burn anyone. She thinks hard, hard enough to come with a plan. Her last chace of ruining Jalal's and Jodha's love story, at the end she does have the plan. If she informs Jodha that Jalal desired to divorce her earlier everything will be over. Soon their love story will be history. Fate and destiny decided to let the truth come out, once again they both were out to test their inseparable bonds, impatiently waiting for the result, after the news comes out. Jodha heads towards Jalal to say something before that Rukaiya grins and says- Jodha hume tumse kuch bat karni hai. Jodha looks on; Jalal comes near Jodha and entwines his fingers with Jodha's, possessively. Giving Rukaiya a clear warning that she is his and only his and dares she tries to speak anything. Rukaiya surely noted the warning, but neither did give a damn nor she feared anything, as everything which was in stake hours ago, has been snatched.Her last strike should be the deadlist Rukaiya thought and it should leave a mark, indeed a wound, which will separate both forever. Rukaiya very well knew which bone to pick. Jalal tells Jodha- Chalo and holds her hand and begins dragging her out of DWk. Rukaiya gets scared as she sees her golden opportunity away from her. Jalal all the while is more confused that what does Rukaiya want to inform Jodha about? And same is the case with Jodha. She says- Agar hum yeh kahe ki kuch din pehle Jalal tumhe talak dene chacte that oh kya tum humari bat ansuni karogi? Jodha blood froze hearing the word talak and so did her footsteps. Jalal too freezes at his spot. He wants to tell her this himself, but not like this. Right now she is not ready to absorb this news. The hakima had already informed him that she needed to stay away from mental stress for atleast some more time. Jodha gives Rukaiya a startled expression and asks- Abhi tumne kya bola? Rukaiya smiles and says- Jo tumne suna Jodha. Jalal tumhe talak dene chacta tha. Kyunki use lagta tha ki Hassan aur Hussain ka katal tumne kiya tha. All the while when Jodha had asked her the query Jodha prayed correction begged Kanha that what she had heard minutes earlier should not be true, but Alas! They were indeed very true. Her heart shouts on her and says that Rukaiya is lying. Jalal can be angry, upset, he may not talk with you for years, but divorce... He can never go to such an extreme. Jodha finally speaks up- Jhot bolne se tumhara koi lab nahi hoga Rukaiya. Shehanshah aisa kabhi nahi soch sakte. With this Jodha tightens her grip on Jalal's hand assuring him, everything will be alright, not having any clue about the storm which is yet to come. Rukaiya now is assured that her plan is surely going to succed and Jalal is touched by Jodha's faith in him, but on the other hand is pained by thought how will she react? How will she feel? After she will know the truth? Will she forgive? Or... no his heart screams don't even think of that. Jalal's heart is beating against his ribs. He desires that the earth should swallow him up or it is better he has a time machine or something throught which he can undo things. But Alas! He is helpless and can do nothing except waiting and wanting. . Rukaiya speaks- Hum par aitbar nahi toh Jalal se hi puch lo. Jodha looks at Jalal the moment she sees the color of his face drained she comprehends everything. Her wounds seemed fresh again; her heart which had began to heal again broke. She is angry. But she has no clue with whom is she angry, with Jalal for thinking too such an extreme or with herself for not making herself so capable to sustain his trust. Everything around her feels like it is suffocating her. She loosens her grip on Jalal's hand because now his grip also felt like something is trying to imprision her. She could feel tears well up in her eyes; she tries to control them from flowing down. She desires to leave and go somewhere where she could be alone at least for some while. She jerks Jalal's hand off and runs. Jalal is not taken aback by her action but by what she said while leaving- Jalal hume tumse ye ummed nahi thi. He could not ignore the lone tear which flowed from her eye. He could not say a word to her. He angrily glares at Rukaiya and turns to leave for Jodha's room. When a soldier comes blocking his path and says that todarmal has to talk something important with him. Jalal could not avoid this conversation even though he knew every passing moment his making matters worse. He asks the soldier to send todarmal fast. Todarmal soon arrives within minutes, but for Jalal these minutes seemed ages. Todarmal explains the emergency of the situation that a rebellion has broke out in a nearby place and if thi rebellion is not curbed right now, it may lead to a war and only Jalal can curb the issue and handle the matter from getting worse. Jalal thinks- Allah, where am I stuck? What kind of imbroglio I'm stuck in? If I din't go in either places matters will become worse. One side is my love the other is my duty. I can't let my love interfere in my duties and I can't lose my love because of my political issues. Jalal thinks what do. He thinks Jodha I wish you were here for helping me out. He thinks hard and remembers the earlier day's incident how Jodha wanted him to go and fulfill his duties rather than staying back for her. With a heavy and a feareful heart Jalal leaves, not knowing the outcome of being late. On, the other Jodha who had already arrived in her chambers and locks the door of her chambers in rage. She flips her sandals throwing both the sandals in different directions.and goes near the mirror and Stares blankly at herself in the mirror thinking what flaw does she have? Confused and angry of not understanding what to do she throws all the things on the dressing table including small mirror on the dressing table Which after falling on the floor breaks into tiny pieces,. Tears are flowing ceaselessly from her eyes as if promising that they will never stop. She pulls her necklace in haste causing marks on her neck and throws it. The same thing she does with her earing and her bangles and her other ornaments. Jodha moves forward by mistake pricking herselfwith huge as well as large pieces of shattered glass, she immediately feels the pain and by mistake hits the table causing the jug to fall as well as the bowl of fruits to fall and the thud sound alarming the soldiers outside the chambers. One soldier knocks the door and asks- begum sahiba kya sav kuch theek hai? Jodha in a fit of rage replies- Tumhe is se koi matlab, while sitting on the bed. The soldier dares not to ask further noticing the bad mood of the Queen. She removes the huge pieces of glass which she could and decides to ignore the rest, as well as the pain because this pain did not seem to great infront of her heart ache. She thinks why did he think of divorcing her? Did he not trust her? Ok she understands everything was just a mere misunderstanding. But what on earth would have happened if he had informed her about this issue. She surely would not have eaten him up neither she would have bursted on him. Maybe she thought at first she could have been angry but later she would have understood. She calms herself thinking that he will come and explain her why hadn't he told her? She lies on the bed facing towards the door. She waits for about an hour, with each passing second hoping for a knock on the door, but soon this hope died. With the death of this hope Jodha's shattered heart falls deeper into the abyss of pain. She feels that her heart would stop beating in a while. She desires to die, but she had promised him that she will never try to commit sucide. But then the query which aroused in her heart is that whom should I live for? Or what am I living for? Her feet are still bleeding and so is her palm, staining the bedsheet in which she lay. On, the other hand Jalal is trying to solve the issue soon, but fails do so. All he could do is just pray to Allah that everything should be fine and trying to be optimistic. He is scared to his core, but then also helpless. Jodha again hears a knock on the door and a ray of hope lights in her heart, but to her dismay she finds the owner of the voice as moti, who asks her to have dinner. Jodha with a hoarse voice replies she is not hungry and she should neither disturb her nor try to persuade her to eat. Moti gets a bit panicked by hearing Jodha's voice and asks Jodha whether she is alright? Jodha lies saying she just has a sore thorat, and after this moti leaves. Jodha waits and waits an hour soon turns to become two and two soon turns to become three hours and so on time keeps on flying. Her body feels hot and the room smells of blood. She does not care about the smell of the room but decides to cool her body. She gets up from the body and drags her feet with all her might and allows the blood to flow and goes to the end of the chamber and lies down on the cold floor her face turning towards the wall because the more she turned her face towards the door, the more her heart pained. She lies on the cold floor in hope that this cold floor might extinguish the fire inside her. She feels betrayed, unworthy, and most important she feels he does not love her anymore. She is fatigued of waiting. She now doubts whether all the love he had showered on her recently was it only a way to pacifiy her so that he could easily end their releationship? She needed answers badly but Jalal is not present here to answer them and this hurted her more than anything. Each moment seems heavier than the earlier, but she is helpless.Jodha does not know when her eyelids close. It's almost dawn by now and Jalal has ended his work. He immediately mounts on his stallion and rushes for the palace; hoping for the best in this odd time also. He runs towards Jodha's chambers and finally reaches the door of her chambers. With fear and anticipation he knocks the door gently and says- Jodha...
