Aahat - Kahani Intezaar Ki..

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Introduction

A Banjaran of probably more than 50 years age, walked towards the desert where the ladies where resting around infront of the fire. Holding a stick in his hand that had a small drum attached to it at the top, he made his way towards the flock. The ladies, where among those who walked miles every day, to deliver the fresh milk to the city. In his old age, he had known how to comfort a lonely soul, a weak soul, a confused soul and also the tired souls, with his melodious voice. As he neared the ladies straightened themselves, welcoming him with earnest. He came from the clan whose only goal in life was to tell tales and comfort anyone with their voice!

One of the ladies brought him water and a piece of roti they were carrying with themselves. There was another lady who was scrutinizing him. With one look at her, he could say she was leader of the flock! She was just like him, but an improvised version. She was a dancer in her time, now she just helped the ladies with their daily work. He smiled knowingly and nodded at her. She straightened herself, she knew that look! She could dance like a peacock again! She thought warily. She walked towards him, while the ladies smiled. They knew, it only took a slightest acknowledgement for the lady to step into rhythm. She did it often during nights, during those long nights where they couldn't cross the deserts due to storm, during those nights when the women were worried for their family, when women where depressed with their fate. She often did her magic with her steps, sometimes she sang too!

Using his little instruments the man bowed towards the god almighty.

"I shall tell you a tale, a tale of love, passion and wait.. Kahani ek ruh ki aahat ki" he said and started to sing with the melodious voice as the lady started dancing.

Ek Kahani thi, Dosti ki..

Ek Intezaar thi, bechaini ki..

Ek Pyaar tha, beintehaan sa..

Ek rishtha thi, behnon ki..

Aur ek kismet thi, bematlab si..

Ek wo thi, jiski payal ki run jun,

Phoolon ko mehakaathi thi..

Aur ek wo thi, jiski sanskaar pe,

Sabko garv tha..

Phir ek wo tha.. Dono ka dil ka raj!

Khushiyan khil utnewali thi,

Doli sajne waali thi,

Lekin ashirvaad ke badle shraap mila..

Sindhoor ke badle khoon mila..

Sara shehar nash hua.. sarvanash hua..

Lekin wo, Naachthi rahi..

Apne pyaar ke liye..

Jalaadiya tha usse..

Chudail ke naam diya usse..

Lekin wo naachthi rahi..

Saara gaav wapas agaya,

Ek bura saya banke..!

Lekin wo Naachthi rahi..

Aur aaj bhi uski payal ki run jun se,

Phool kil kilathi hai..

Uski awaj ki gunj se,

Khoyal bhi sharmathi hai,

Bura saya tham jati hai..

Lekin wo sirf naachthi hai..

Apne pyaar ke liye.. Beintehaan pyaar ke liye..

Aaj bhi hai, Uski Aahat,

Aaj bhi hai, Uski Cheek,

AAj bhi hai, Uski Intezaar..

Kyunki Yeh kahani hai, Intezaar ki..

Uski Aahat ki..!

With one swift turn, she spread herself on the ground, panting hard. She looked up at him with an unreadable expression, "Kahani jo kitabo nahi, Kahani jo waqt ne mita di, kahani jo kisi ko yaad nahi, kisi ko pata bhi nahi.. Tum kaise jano? Tum kaise jano uski Aahat ki yeh kahani?" she asked him. he only smiled in return.

"Hum na jaante kuch bhi.. humari zuban bagwaan ki ishara hai.. hum to sirf gate hai, kahani humari zubaan sunati hai. Na hum jaante hai ki humari zubaan kya jane, na humari zubaan jaanta hai ki woh kya jaante hai.. zindagi paheli hai.. sab uska khel hai.." saying so he got and bowed towards the skies. Today, he had sung it again! He had sung a song that he hadn't dared to sing in last few years! The first time he did, a small boy had come up to him asking him if it was a story of roopgarh, he had frozen. For he never knew the truth, he had only heard rumors. After few days, he heard the boy had gone crazy! He swore never to sing it again. Today? He didn't know what made him sing, he didn't know why there was eluding aura in the environment! He didn't know, why the sky suddenly seemed as if it was getting to face an important event!

The lady infront of him nodded knowingly, she turned towards her flock, "Lets leave in a bit.." she said. The ladies started to collect their stuffs. The man looked skeptical, she walked up to him. "Kabhi kabhi jo honi hoti hai, wo hokar rehthi, kismet pe kisi ka haq nahi, kisi ka bas nahi.. uski kismet bhi aisi hi thi.. jalke rakh hogayi lekin naachthi rahi.. kyunki uski shareer toh shayad duniya se dur hogaya, lekin uski ruh, uski payal run jun se bandi hai, Uski chudiyon ki kanak se, aur uski awaaj se bandi hai.. uski ruh tab tak yaha rahegi, jab tak yeh sab mit nahi jata.."

The man sighed. As the ladies bid their adieus to him, she walked upto him, "Hum Banjaran hai.. humari zubaan wahi kehthi jo wo uparwala kehelwana chahtha hai.. aaj lag raha, jaisa saara jahan kisi ki intezaar kar rahi hai.. aaj ki raat shayad bahut lambi hogi.." she said with a deep sigh.

He saw her walking away leading her flock in the desert. He had always believed only he knew the tale of roopgarh, he had always believed no one believed his version of the tale. It was the first time he had seen someone as like minded as him. He was shocked for one, and he was relieved that may be, just maybe there was a hope.
