Before you faint that I did a take for today 😆, one request ... let's remember what we have gained from this show today instead of what we have lost (that is peace of mind 😆 )... but jokes apart, there is a reason we are all together in the forum and why we are so upset after watching an episode ... as we have all grown to love this serial and Jodha Akbar.
An interesting idea came back recently of celebrating first year anniversaries ... so, before you wonder how I did a take 5 for today ... this is a take to celebrate the first year anniversary of the momentous episode of October 16-17, 2013 ... the Kali Maa Mandir scene
I was not active in the forum then ... and so here is my chance to celebrate one of my favorite episodes in Jodha Akbar and I will take it.
So, here goes with my Take 5:
(1) The series of events begins with a few light moments ... The mandir journey starts with Jodha waking up late ... and coming to where everyone is assembled. She is teased by all for admitting that she and Jalal slept late hence she woke up late (and Mainavati's and Hamida Bano's imaginations started running more than ours ever did 😉) ... in any case, we did see Jodha-Jalal in close quarters ... oh who can forget that lep scene. 😳
And then Jodha mentions she is going to the Kali Maa Mandir and Super Daadi has a brilliant idea that she should take Jalal with her ... I always liked Daadi 😆
Jodha tries many ways to convince Jalal to not join her ...but Jalal is not one to leave her alone easily , especially when she is annoyed by it. He insists on coming saying if she could come with him to Ajmer then he can come with her to the Mandir ... enjoying cornering Jodha into taking him. 😉
Of course, Jodha is not one to sit quiet ... insisting he takes off his crown and leaves his sword before entering the Mandir. And finally, Jalal asks an exasperated "Ab chale" before Jodha allows Jalal to enter the Mandir ...
And then we enter a new world ... of depth and beauty ... which has always been the case when Jodha-Jalal are in front of the Divine
(2) A mutual respect: As Jodha begins her prayer, Jalal remembers how Jodha had learned his way of prayer at Ajmer ... he also followed her to pray in her way in the Mandir. What a beautiful embodiment of their mutual respect and love for their religions ... As they both shared that Divine connect wherever they were.
(3) Jodha's sadness felt by Jalal: Jodha's sadness is shown so poignantly as she recalls her vow to bring Jalal's head at the feet of Kali Maa ... and the beauty was Jalal recognized this sadness. Showing how much he understood Jodha and her bond with God, he asked how she had always saw her in peace when she was God then why was she upset.
(4) The moment of realization: What a milestone moment when Jodha shared the roots of her hatred for Jalal with the looting of the Mandir ... it was a moment of immense realization as he finally understood why Jodha held so much "ghrina" for him and why it was so difficult it was for her to overcome ... Now that he knew the source of her pain, he wanted to heal it for her ...
(5) Jalal's amazing gesture: Jalal, with conviction and a sense of purpose, moves towards Kali Maa and looks intently at Her ... and he bends his head down at her feet ... fulfilling Jodha's promise to her Devi ... bringing his head to her feet. After all, how could he let Jodha feel she failed in front of her God.
Rajat's Jalal was immensely profound in this scene ... showing seriousness, depth, repentance, clarity, and peace with himself all in one ... that day Jalal truly touched my heart with this gesture. And when he raised his head, the kumkum was on his forehead as a blessing and there was a peace in his mind of having been accepted by Kali Maa. 👏
This is the real connect between Jodha-Jalal - the Divine one.
To recover from today's episode ... I read the Akbarnama chapter on this war... not surprising, it gives a totally opposite view ... and I do not care which version is correct ... a war is a war. I believe after this war, the real Akbar did go to Ajmer to show gratitude to God ... I have a feeling CVs will get him to Ajmer ... but obviously with another purpose.
And once Jalal is connected once again with God, we will have our Akbar back ... just like some moments in life cannot be explained, today's episode cannot be explained. It is the holiday season ... let's try to remember what Jodha-Jalal mean to us and the true spirit of Jodha-Jalal we have seen for more than a year now ...I sign off with a special prayer to God to show common sense to our CVs so that the write beautiful episodes like this one again 😆
