Rashmi I'll have a listen to Bombay. And another point of similarity - they had twin boys there too.

Yup ,the boys had names Ram and Rahim .Something similar to Jallu's suggestion of Raziya and Radha.Do listen to Bombay's theme song .Its beautifully played on flute,

A very beautiful post.
Thanks! As you know ,I don't know these songs but the translation you have given is so good ,that I felt I understood everything. For Anjali, yes that song" Anjali Anjali " is very good.
I should have specified ... this song is "Anjali Anjali" from the movie Duet... it was recycled in a little known movie called Kabhi Na Kabhi in Hindi "Mere Saare Shubho Mein" but a very nice tuneBut our Anjali is not like that innocent girl from the movie but ours is very Badmash. So after her Dday ,I am gonna sing this song"Rukumini Rukumini Akkam PakkamEnna satham."
Woh to haiSince I am a native of Maharashtra and I don't know about these songs but I will pick songs from my favorite director's movies.
I like Marathi lavanis a lot ... I like Apsara Aali a lot from Natrang
And since the same film was made in both the languages,So I think you can relate to it .And he is ...Maniratnam.The song which you talked about " Anjali Anjali" happens to be his debut movie for the hindi audience. We all loved that movie so much that it we were eager to watch his next movie ," Roja" .We all know how great that movie was and yes how girls liked Arvind a lot.The movie had a beautiful song ," Roja Jaaneman" .This song is sung by the hero when he is away from his ladylove .He doesn't know whether he will meet her again and Roja on the otherside is frantically searching for him.Similar situation we had in JA.Jo is out of the palace and Jalal is now frantically searching for her.Roja Janeman tu dil ki dhadkanAny objection from anyone that Jodha is dhadkan of Jalal.?Tujh bin kaise jina.We know that he can't live without her.He ,breaking down after her Vishpan, gave this message.Aankhon mein tu hain ,Aankhein band Karlo to phir bhi tu hain.We had a similar dialogue by Jalal , remember? During that painting fiasco of whose painting to be put where,Jalal looks at Jo's painting and says that even if he closes his eyes ,he can still see Jo.
Yes, Roja Jaaneman is a beautiful song and you highlight the similarities with the dialogues beautifully2)Mani's second film " Bombay" and JA have a similarity and that is two people coming together from different faiths. In that film too, both hero and heroine not only respected each other's faith but tried to adapt some good things from each other's religion.Same like Jajo. They too respect each other's religion and yes they tried to take good things from each other's religion too.As Jalal tried to learn Geeta and she Quran.I liked all songs from Bombay but I don't know which song fits in JA.But what I liked the most was "Bombay" theme .I request Anu if she can make a beautiful VM with that theme music.
Yes, the Bombay theme - instrumental and words- are beautiful ... and yes, that jodi represented religious tolerence in the same way ... I used to love the grandparents' funny back and forth on the religion ... but even they were united in the end3) And finally " Dil se " .It had a beautiful song ,sung by Lataji.Jiya jale,Jaan jale nainon tale ,Jiya jaleThis fits for Jo during Ben track .When she was feeling jealous of Jalal being near to Ben but she never understood what exactly was the reason.Janoo na janoo Sakhi re Jiya jale.Yes many times she confronted with Moti too, that why she feels irritated when Jalal is with Ben? Why she cares for him so much when she came to know his life is in danger? That song had one more beautiful line.Dekhte hain tan mera, man main chubhti hain nazarWe all know how passionately Jalal used to look at her intially. But we never got a dialogue from Jo that the way he looks at her ,she gets goosebumps or her heart starts beating faster.
We can imagine Jo sang "Jiya jale jaan jale" ... another VM idea for ChittiThis post which is written by me is a misfit here. But still I thought taking those songs in hindi which are in Tamil too.Anyways whichever language it is ,We all are speaking the language of music.
Why is it a misfit? We are celebrating the journey of JJ and music and you have done both!
Belated Birthday Greetings to Anjali.🥳Magal 🤗.
Chitti 🤗
There were a lot of songs there you mentioned that I don't actually know...
Go listen to them Chitti ... Or rather, "Robert, tumhe ye gaana suna hoga"😆
except for Duet songs and Pachai Nirame which does work as a kind of a signal for JJ's various coloured moods. 😆 But this uber romantic mood of yours is going to inspire JJ to reach greater heights.
Uber Romantic mode and me Chitti? It is the magic of the music 😆'oh Girl celebrating your wedding, listen to my song and you will learn some truths' Big hit with with Jo am sure. Azhagana manaivi, anbaana thunaivi sung by the man with sadness? I guess he was trying to make his wife see what he saw in her as well? He saw her first as someone special, she didn't share his view? That's how I interpreted it, coz people don't always see the same thing at the same time. One is ahead of the other, especially with JJ.
Oh Chitti , you should watch Pudhu Pudhu Arthangal ... the situation he sings this song is very different. He is suffering from a terrible marriage- wife tricked him into marrying him, is always suspecting of him, to a bit crazy ... he is a singer and dubbing for this song ... when he chokes at this line and praises the lyricistSo as as antidote for not knowing these songs... I present my own from a Gemini Ganesan movie calledAvalukkendru Oru Manam ( The woman with a mind of her own)
Thanks Chitti for introducing me to this song ... I am going to check it out nowhere's a verse :Oodal konda penmai, angey thaniye ninrathuWomanly facade of anger stood there aloneKoodal kolla mannan ullam arugey vanthathuThe heart of the king came closer to unite with herEnnadi vilaiyaattu, endru sonnaven mozhi kettuWhen I heard him say, 'what's this game you play'Aasaiyil vizhunthen angey, Kaalaiyil kanavugal engeyI fell to desire then and there, where did the dreams go by morningchorus:Unnidathil ennai koduthenI've given myself to youUnnai ullam engum alli thelithenI've taken you and sprinkled you all over my heartUravinil vilaiyadi,Playing (experimenting) with our relationshipVarum kanavugal pala kodiWe have acquired many dreamsUnnidathil ennai koduthenUnnai ullam engum alli thelithen.
For now, the lyrics are beautiful Chitti ... now I will get my hands on that song
Rashmi I'll have a listen to Bombay. And another point of similarity - they had twin boys there too.
