Why is Jalal really going to meet Maham???

Yesterday's epi was quite good...I also liked Jo's reverse psychology attempt ( I use the word attempt, coz acc to me, the execution could have been much better ) ...till the point she mentioned the word "AHANKAAR"..😔...I was so irked by the use of this one word by the dialogue writers, and I could not really pinpoint the reason as to why I was so angry with that one word...of course, Jalal is miles away from having an egoistic stance with MA: that I knew, but what exactly was the reason why this one word was so misplaced, esp when uttered by his soulmate, Jo??

My dear friend Adi made a most fabulous post on Ela's thread yesterday, which left me speechless...I simply logged off after reading it, & have been thinking about this post since last night...

Here, immediately after this post, I shall post Adi's post.....what a fabulous perspective of looking at Jalal's behaviour towards MA ever since the ill-fated curse happened...Adi...hats off to you, buddy...one of the best posts I have come across on IF ever...friends, kindly read that first, n then continue further, please...

Adi's post sort of lifted the blur which was there in front of me...so far, I was quite irritated with this track, which I thought was MA-glorification track...(though this track has seen the return of the JO which I have always wanted to see)...the soft yet strong, polite yet firm soulmate to Akbar...hence, the word "AHANKAAR" used by the cvs yesterday did not resonate well with me at all, in an otherwise good performance by Jo & PS both...the cvs were way, way off the mark with this one...

This is actually an AKBAR GLORIFICATION TRACK, ably supported by his soul-mate Jodha...

What is important here is that though Jalal realises that MA's love for him was adulterated with her whimsical & illogical desires for the throne for her biological son, his OWN LOVE FOR HER WAS AS PURE AS SPARKLING PURE WATER FROM A GEYSER ON THE ALPS.....

Hence, he is going to meet the mother whom he loved UNCONDITIONALLY...NOT the mother who loved him CONDITIONALLY....

...when in reality, it is usually vice versa...😭

This is exact copy paste of Adi's (adianasr) post from Ela's thread yesterday...

Ela, Akbar understood why MA cursed him right at that time - and he had her removed not becoz he was angry with her for it - he knew that she did what she did from her pain at AK's death and he removed her so that she did not have to see him and thus rant even more and lower herself in the eyes of all the rest - he did that for MA as her son - and he has held back from visiting her becoz he does not want to cause her pain of having to see the murderer of her son - and now he will go and meet her becoz she wants to see him not as the Emperor or as the one who killed AK but as the one who called her mother - he will go to give her absolution.

And no Ela, Sands, Akbar does not have any bitterness that he needs to let go - he did it way back when he said that as a son it is his duty to ensure that his mother did not commit any more wrong actions and could meet her maker with less guilt - he let his bitterness go then - and what he had for the MA who cursed him and his unborn kids was pity that the one who he loved as a mother has reduced herself to such depths and he does not want her to fall any further in the eyes of others - No Ela, neither ego nor hurt is holding him back - what is holding him back is a son's love for his mother - a son who understands his mother better than any other and a son who was waiting to be informed that the mother wanted to see the SON - Ela, MA was absolutely correct when she said that she could gauge what was in Jalal's heart even without meeting him - and she realised why he had not come to meet her - and that is why she told Jodha that she wanted to meet her Son and not the Emperor.

great thoughts Khushi and Adi
Jalal is always easier for me to understand. I haven't watched ...but did MA say she wants to meet her Son? Well then. She knows her son doesn't she and he knows her. How many people are blessed with nearest and dearest who understand. It was a special relationship and Jalal was giving his badi ammi peace in his own way. In the end, they know each other and will say a proper goodbye. Jodha was the envoy who didn't break off ties, the wife who would uphold Jalal's sentiments in her characteristic way. CVs are really pulling the JJ strings together at every opportunity and binding them closer while keeping their individual characters intact.

Khushi I feel Jallu needs to see MA and let her die in peace...He own it to his peace of mind and his childhood...I know you all are against the glorification of MA but I dont think it is any glorification that cvs is projecting...I feel it is for repenting of MA and for reconcilation of mother and son...Jallu needs it as much as MA does...

And U really got this so rt.!!! This is not MA Glorification... This is Akbar Glorification !!! Sands u got it rt so long back yaar - HB did do punya by the truckloads in all her past births to get a child like Akbar - she was the lukiest parent and Akbars kids were the luckiest children !!! And a Jodha who is by his side (ya dialogue writers do give her such bloopers at times !!!)

Paddy, yesterday MA clearly said that she wants to meet her "Beta" ...not the "Shehenshah"

She said, "fark hai dono main"...

Ela, obviously, MA's memories are always gonna remain precious to Akbar, despite all that she has done (betrayal) & ironically, also because of all that she has done (Jalal's childhood)...

Jalal needs to meet Maham at least once before she dies, because it is for the betterment of his state of mind for as long as he lives, that he remembers her as his mother, & NOT as his traitor....his last vision of her as a repenting mother will go a long way in healing his badly battered & bruised heart 😭

Very, very nice going, my dear Adiana, superb, in fact. Your take reads, as usual, beautifully in its lavish emotionalism - and Khushi, thanks for sharing this with us in such a typically sweet and generous fashion.

Now I have one question. Take the parts in blue below, then go back and rewatch Jalal's bitter outpourings in the takht burning scene. If you want to save time, you can look up my post on that episode, Jodha Akbar 318: Imperial Escapism on Divya's thread here at

https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/post/112610252,

where I have set down his tirade almost verbatim.

Now tell me how you can rationalise Jalal's behaviour then, which was AFTER the scene of the curse, with Adiana's superb explanation, which I am afraid I do not buy at all.

Jalal is raging and crushed by the curse more than by anything else, and if his initial reaction to it was so wise, so understanding,so forgiving, then why does he rant like that when he is burning his shaitaani takht?

Nor has there been a single line that he has uttered since then that would buttress the theory that "he has held back from visiting her becoz he does not want to cause her pain of having to see the murderer of her son ". On the contrary, he clearly tells Jodha that there is not even a vestige of insaniyat left in Mahaam, and the wording of his strictures against her visiting Mahaam make it clear that he is afraid that such visits could be dangerous for Jodha and the babies.

If he was so gentle and forgiving and understanding vis a vis Mahaam, and avoided meeting her only to spare her pain, why does he get upset with the idea of Jodha visiting her? Surely Jodha did not have anything to do with Adham's death?

Plus, I object strongly to the use of the phrase "the murderer of her son". Jalal did NOT murder Adham, he meted out just punishment for Adham's innumerable crimes, and we at least should not be using such a term.

To sum up, one cannot construct a theory, no matter how appealing, by omitting contradictory and inconvenient facts. A theory, as Hercule Poirot never tired of stating, has to explain every single fact, or be discarded.

Finally, mark my words, Khushi my pet. It will end up, very likely (and hopefully!) tonight with Jalal getting absolution from Mahaam, with Jodha being "forgiven" as a kind of bonus. The way in which Mahaam's ghastly crimes have been papered over is beyond belief. Look out for Jalal crying buckets all over that grimy costume of Mahaam's. And whoever heard of the giver of absolution weeping such torrents of tears?
