excellent post! I completely agree...I liked that she showed the care to MA..loved her and MA's scene...like u said she is not a girl to return curse for curse...in fact no one should...she knows who Maham is..Maham is her husband's Badi Ammi...though Maham forgot this fact but Jodha cant..after all if Jalal is alive today and she has him only coz Maham saved him multiple times when he was attacked in his childhood...the care and nursing she is doing in Maham's last days she will get all in return in form of blessings of Maham in her death bed.

Spot on, Cuddly Bear. I loved that scene too, though at the back of my mind was How much of that mess can the baandis be expected to clean up, and so much good food wasted!😉

But what would you and everyone else have felt if, in the Jodha-Mahaam scene before this one, where Jodha gets the plate of food hurled in her face, Mahaam had instead given her a good hard shove, making Jodha fall heavily on the stone floor, and she had had a miscarriage on the spot?

Not so nice and heartwarming, no? What would Jodha have told Jalal then? That manushyataa had dictated that she trot across to face Mahaam, that her mansha had been good, and she could not have foreseen the loss of the babies.. Shahenshah, samajhne ka prayas keejiye! One good thing would have been that Jalal might well have executed Mahaam on the spot, but the babies would be gone regardless, and her baddua would have been duly fulfilled. What would Hamida have said about this latest exercise in spreading the milk of human kindness to even the most undeserving? I doubt if she would have applauded her Jodha beta.

It feels good - and I genuinely shared the feelings in this post of yours - to applaud such determined warm-heartedness, but the fact remains that it was very foolish of Jodha to venture so close to a Mahaam who is clearly not in her right mind, a Mahaam who has spouted undiluted venom about the children Jodha is to bear.

It was also entirely unnecessary. Jodha seems devoid of any commonsense when she does such things. When she knows that Mahaam hates her, and will reject anything, no matter how beneficial, that she is associated with, why does she, again and again, turn up in that cell and claim ownership of the initiative, thus automatically nixing any chances of its succeeding?

Let us take just this latest one. Jodha's idea is to revive Mahaam's will to live. But for that, all that was necessary was to send Javeda in to see Mahaam and announce the good news (fake, one presumes, the lie being in the interest of reviving Mahaam. Or so I hope; the world hardly needed another Adham Khan!😉).

Where was the need for Jodha Begum (only Mahaam and you call her Begum Jodha, a curious coincidence!😉) and all those plates of food that anyone could have told her would land up on the floor?

Why, it was needed because the CVs want the viewers to think exactly as you do, and all the reservations I have noted above be damned! Ekta's heroine has to be everywhere every time, playing an angel of mercy with a vengeance.

She does not need to return a curse with a curse, which would be entirely alien to her nature. She can be compassionate and organise medical care for Mahaam. She can shower blessings on Mahaam from afar. But why go there, risk a violent and potentially dangerous reaction from Mahaam? What good does that do anyone?

The fact is that Jodha, when in full do-gooding mode, thinks of nothing but what her heart dictates. Everything else takes second place, even the baalaks she is always talking about, and she ends up scaling the heights of irresponsibility. It was the same when she went to free Khyber - if those bandits had had a free hand with her, as they might well have done but for Khyber arriving in the very nick of time, Jodha would have ended up in a slave market after suffering unimaginable indignities - and it is the same now.

The other constant is her ironclad conviction that she is always right, which is very convenient, and Jalal's eventual, if not immediate readiness to condone her most reckless and impulsive follies.

Incidentally, Jodha always refers all children in the works as putras or baalaks. Never as putris or balikas. It seems to be some sort of verbal habit, not linked to gender discrimination.

Shyamala Akka.

Shyamala Akka, you did pick up on my new penchant for saying begum Jodha just like Maham 😳

and did you have to pour cold water on my newly re-kindled fondness for Jodha? 😒 ... cruel.

I can't seem to picture MA in her weakened state suddenly summoning the strength to push Jo to the floor. Now Jo isn't the type to consider what-if scenarios even when traipsing through jungles with Khyber, so she went into that jail cell this time picturing her ultimate triumph as usual, I agree. But this time the situation was entirely appropriate I thought. Supervising the meals of a female VIP prisoner seems like just the sort of thing a queen can do without raising the ire of the Shahenshah or upsetting the rest of the royal household. It's an act of mercy that even Jalal, despite everything, would appreciate. This was one time when JJ managed to be in sync and CVs mercifully didn't include a scene before where Jodha has to persuade Jalal about the rightness of what she intended to do. This was one time when it was better that the right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing and it would be alright.

Yes, Jodha the heroine has been overdone everywhere. But this time it actually looked good from all angles.

What i liked it after MA throw the food plate on her, Moti commented that SHE is happy for MA condition & said MA deserve it, while Jo clearly told how could she say such think, even if she did gave BADHUVAA to her, but when we do the same to them, then what's the difference between both..

I liked the stubborn & ziddi JO to MA . MA also addressed how JO is ziddi coming back to her... I liked MA throwing the food plate, while Jo bringing again and again...I am sure that JO said about Adham re birth only to bring the hope for MA to live...

Ya abhi, I liked the two women having a food fight but there was some underlying respect and regard which will only increase. It's good that they will part with some mutual respect.

Yes it's good for this care to be shown and demonstrated in this situation, when we think of all that transpired between them and all that hate from Maham. This is not being mahaan. This is about being humane.

Raksha, this time it seems very very right. 😳 It has the right feel to me. No speeches, no lectures, just doing what needs done out of a compassion and ...the time running out.

And almost motherly in the way she handled MA's stubborn-ness. How nice to see such a self assured Jodha being so sensitive to the situation.

Lovely Post Padbear..Me too loved that scene..

lovely post padbear. I loved the entire episode which included Maham, Jodha & Jalal. In her sickbed, Maham was counting days if not hours. Jodha didn't straight away got there, she infact had sent a Hakima with medicine and food which Maham refused to take and later when Hakima told that Maham is not willing to cooperate with her and without food, she can't consume s=medicine, did Jodha went there. Yes, Maham was in bad mood and would have caused harm to Jodha but we have seen her so long that never did she man handled anyone, even if it was her enemy and how can Jodha keep thinking about pros and cons about her visit when she had heard that lady who had rised her husband was dying an untimely death?

When she read about how unselfishly Maham had saved Jalal's life on numerous occasions, how can she stay aloof and wait for Maham's death news? Then what is the difference between any other lady and Jodha, the softhearted lady? Moreover, it is not that Jalal was not awaqre of her second visit to Maham but he chose to stay away from it and just given her a nod to do what she feels right at the moment. He knew very well that she is thinking of helping Maham as she talked to him about Maham and she had been praying for Maham. Yes he was hurt beyond repair but he was human enough to allow his wife to help his Badi ammi to have a peaceful farewell.
I loved it more when they talked and behaved like 2 naughty kids who are ready to outsmart the other by getting the food and spilling food. Maham had lost her anger towards Jodha but she was frustrated with the way Jodha was forcing herself on her as she by now had realized the truth about Jodha but was not willing to accept it. That why she did scream at her but became stubborn about not having food as Jodha wished her to do.

Jodha was true to herself again yesterday and did what she knew she must do. In the last and final days of Maham Anga, Jodha is determined that she will show compassion. I cannot argue with that. She listened to the Hakim Sahiba saying that a person needs some hope, some need to live, no matter how tiny. She was never going to stoop to the level of returning curse for curse. No, she will bless. That is all she knows to do, that is all she owes to anybody - Good thoughts and good wishes.

I thought i was odd one out in LIKING that scene.. Felt nice to read this.. It was the Grace of a Queen..I wish CV's continue this avatar of Jodha, which they started after MA's Curse..!!.
Completely agree with your post, Padbear.

I remember our brief OLD convo on Courage , which you elucidated quite nicely..Along with perseverance and conviction, that facet was also on Display. I liked the continuity maintained in her character.

Even I was thinking I was the only one to love that scene which came out so well. I especially loved the facial expression and even the makeup of Maham to show how weak she had gone ad still she will bend and yet she knew Jodha will not bend as well. From the beginning Maham was not liking Jodha for a simple reason that she could see her own stubbornness and hot headedness in Jodha and that's one reason she took her as her instant enemy.
I loved Jodha for her selfless motives in helping Maham to revive and she didn't feel it wrong even if she has to lie to her about Javeeda's condition. Her only intention was to give some peace to that elderly soul who had lost her son in front of her eyes in most horrible condition. Had she not been that compassionate, I would not have accepted this JOdha who would have gone with calculations during critical condition with someone' s life. Here she was dealing with none other than a lady who saved her husband many a times by risking her own life.
