Very appropriate and dignified post Abhay. I usually don't bother commenting on all fantasy theories. It is a free country and everyone has the right to live in their La La land. But as an Indian, I do feel the need to speak up when respected freedom fighters, patriotic national heroes and acts of bravery by great people are insulted, subtly or directly, in the name of history. There is nothing wrong in being a die hard fan of a handsome actor or worship the character he plays. But belittling other great people, their achievements, courage or tragedy, just to prove that he could do no wrong is so not needed. I also believe that Akbar was a great Emperor...but wonder why statements suggesting that Ashoka was "less great" than Akbar or Maharana Pratap was a lesser person than Akbar keep cropping up every now and then ? And now we are being told that the process of unification of post independence India by a patriotic freedom fighter was similar to the brutal massacre of innocent men, women and children. Is it really so difficult to praise Akbar without attacking other unrelated people and events? No matter how much we dislike Ekta's way of presenting JA, we have to admit that she and Ashutosh Gowarikar have managed to change the image of Akbar for the better in the eyes of many many people. I personally know many people in North India who thought of Akbar as just a successful foreign invader...someone who was better than his ancestors and progenies. Now, they respect him as a great Emperor who cared about the people of 16th century Hindustan. But even EK did not stoop down to disparaging or defaming other great men to highlight the achievements of Akbar.I fear, who is next in the line of attack?...Gandhi, Bhagat Singh, Mother Teresa or someone else...All this done just to argue that Akbar was the only great person who ever walked on planet earth.Does all this really convince people to start believing the fantasy versions? No...it just leads to annoyance towards Akbar ( a natural human response)...ironically for no fault of his. The historical characters like Ashoka, Maharana Pratap and Sardar Patel have also given us reasons to be proud of our history. They are not here to defend themselves...but we can and will do it.
PS: This is my POV on the use of other names/events in a negative connotation during JA discussions. The names and events I have mentioned have been used/misused in the past to glorify Akbar's achievements on the forum. I didnt see it as a history discussion post therefore didn't post it on the sticky thread. However, if the DT team feels otherwise, please move it to the history discussion thread. I want to clarify that this is not a deliberate attempt to break the history discussion rule. Thank you.

Maddy ,
I know some are pointing towards this romance factor. But as many of our friends have told that this story was not for push and pull and pinning to the wall romance. For that, two big PH houses in Bollywood make dozens of such stories. If she wanted to show this kind of romance then why Jodha Akbar ? She could have taken any fictional Raja Rani and made this. This is not a just an ordinary love story but the journey of two people from two different worlds coming together and forming another world. Now these two people can't say like other lovers" Hum dono ki eek chotisi apni hi aalag duniya jisme koi nahi hain" They can't afford to say such things as he is no majnu ,ranjha ,Romeo etc.He is King of Hindustan .He is father of his aawam .He can't forget them and she won't even ask that. These lovers have crores of people in their world. This story is about the man who was ahead of his times, who was a great visionary. She was not just an ordinary queen who just did the work of giving heir but she was equal partner of his amazing journey. She herself was a part of administration, she looked after trade, she build mosques .For these exemplary people the story shouldn't be the same ordinary one.The one example of Jo not being ordinary was ,when she heard of those curses ,she didn't go for chestbeating and crying or accusing her fate but she decided to fight .Who in 16th century would have done this.We have numerous examples of Akbar not being an ordinary man. Then when god have made them extraordinary ,who are we to expect such ordinary things from them.PS :-If tomorrow some person wants to make love story on Radha Krishna ,can we expect passion in that as we know there was no physical thing in this story but as it was more platonic.Let's come to this century ,if somebody wants to make story on some couples like the couple who founded one of the biggest software company of India.Everybody knows this story how they started .Shall we expect push and pull romance or shall we see how,a man with rs 10000 from his wife's savings and her support not only made one big MNC giant but has been doing million dollars charity work too.

Thanks a lot Preet for your reply .I am very much aware of physical aspect in romance too but I wanted to say that it's not the only thing in love.Love is beyond that too.Its more of emotional experience. And yes you are right ,love can be seen everywhere if you want to.Physical aspect might bind you for sometime but the love in relationship binds you for the entire life. And in case of Jajo they are together still after the death too.So it's Soulwala love.

Ahhh... Sandhya, No one has the ability to even interpret this war from Akbar's point of view - even today he is viewed as an expansionist and not a nation builder - toh kya if Patel was ready to use similar tactics on Hyderabad in 1949 - that is nation building after all - My advice to you Sands is to keep off this topic on this particular forum 😉😆
