The Salima Factor and ironies of life

(1) Ruqaiyya ... no surprises she is continuing her plan. She has played her cards very well ... She has not mentioned being MUZ even once to anyone ... She has only talked about filling her void as a Mother, even in the DEK.

We hear her evil laughter, her plans, her audha rants ... has Jodha or Jalal seen any of this? After the fake pregnancy track, Jodha and Jalal decided to give her another chance ... we need to accept that.

So, what did Jodha and Jalal see after this second chance : Ruq's being nice to Jodha after the mirchi war, expressing concern that Jodha fought the war while being pregnant, apologizing to Jodha in the Atifa track, and even making halwa for Jodha. Yes, there is a history before before fake pregnancy, but as humans you expect people to learn a lesson ... but little do they know that CVs do not let characters to do that.

So, given this context, what do Jodha-Jalal see ... they see a woman who has close to lost her best friend, does not have any love or emotions in her life, and is looking to fill that void with her husband's child.

(2) Jalal ... no surprises here. He is sympathetic to his best friend ... if he chose to forgive his friend then he has done so wholeheartedly. However, he is still firm that he will not give the child as it is not his decision to make and lashed out against a public defamation yesterday. Till the end , he seemed firm in his point of view

(3) Jodha ... no surprises here. She sees the same Ruquaiyya I described above ...a lonely woman that needs some connection to her husband and family ... and a child would do that. So, no surprise she does so to Ruqaiyya. And I could have bet she would have used the Yashodha-Krishna analogy!

However, I wanted to share a beautiful phrase from Padbear said yesterday on why Jodha's position as a mother is untouchable:

"Jo's motherhood is something untouchable. Even if Ruqs is given a child now, it's Jo who will decide to do it for whatever reason and she will do it from a position of strength, blessing. Mothers have that ability, no one can take that away. She will also have more children after the tragedy. So really she's unassailable."

(4) But, what did surprise me today was Salima! I had expected her to relate with Jodha ... but then I zoomed out and it made a lot of sense. She was also a woman alone, with no support, and while Rahim was not her own blood it filled her emotional void. She felt Ruqaiyya was trying to fill the same emotional void. And she doesn't even know about the fake pregnancy!

(5) The irony is ... Jodha , Jalal, Salima understand that a child would fill an emotional void within Ruqaiyya ... except Ruqaiyya who does not know she has an emotional void and thinks she has an audha void!

I don't know why ... the Salima factor really surprised me and I felt like writing a post today.

What else are lunch breaks and conferences for? 😆

So, thoughts? I won't even ask for anything else today😉

Beautiful post Divi.
And yes, their actions made a lot of sense, now that we zoom-out.

I wasn't surprised at Salima's view-point. She knows how much she loves Rahim, and the fact that he's not her biological son, wouldn't ever be a factor. Also, as she had said during Ben track, she had resented Rahim's biological mother, when she was alive, I guess, she believes Ruqaiyya will overcome her personal views about Jodha and love the child with all her heart.

I was actually impressed with Jalaal's stance on the issue. He knows how different Jodha, and Ruqiyya's world views are, and he didn't want siblings, growing up in such different environments. He also knew, there would always be clashes between the beghums on what the child given to Ruq should be like, hence, he was willing Ruq to adopt another child.

Jalaal and Salima, both understand Ruqaiyya equally well, so both are right in their own way, as is Hamida.

Brilliant post! 👏

Thanks!

Yes, it wouldn't be so complicated if Jodha and Jalal had a camera in Ruq's room like we do 😆

My thoughts were the "food" and I am asking for your thoughts in reaction ... if it resonates, does not, etc.

Nice post divi.
Ruqaiya ko audha ki bimaari hai aur jodha ko mahaanta ki. I too expected the Yashodha comparison in her attempt to convince Jalal. But Maham Anga? ???😲...and bharpet bhojan and bhookha in a parivaar...😲. Wonder who writes her dialogues. 😕 Even her supreme selfless sacrifice is reduced to a comedy.😭. And the likes of me get more irked.😔

But Jalal's stand is heartening. But how long? Perhaps as long as his correct stand in the Todarmal case. He will buckle down finally. 😡 perhaps this is why historians call this period the petticoat government.

Salima did surprise me too. But she too only believed what she saw. Ruqaiya's actions were justifiable in suja track and all previous tracks. I could even acquit and defend her in fp track and blame Jalal's ignoring her. But this time she has crossed the line. I would have been her front line lawyer had she wanted only the child. But wanting to be MUZ means either bumping off Jodha or her other child. This has nothing to do with Jalal ignoring her or feeling insecure. It is as evil as MA's actions. Hope sense dawns on her before she formulates or executes her seriously wrong ideas. I have liked her grey shades and i hope she doesn't turn charcoal black with any serious crime

actually jalal still doubts ruqaiah after all childhood friends know our true selves best
that is why he some how is not convinced to give baby to ruqu
imagine if a salima had asked he would have closed eyes and handed over baby
further he knows what ruqwu really wants so he offers her a separate empire in her name
or property, money etc
jalal knows her very well by now indeed only he knows her the best in world apart from a maham

Yes, it is true that he likely does have some doubt on Ruquaiyya ... but I think he also knows that the Mother has to make the decision here ...it is her right ... even if it was Salima

today full on jalal & jodha bashing is going on. especially jalal kissing ruku is a big issue.😆 but my point is if jajo can be sympathetic towards BB, why cant they be sympathetic towards ruku??? people r saying jalal knows ruku from childhood so why cant he understand tht its her natak. but we viewers had always seen 2 versions of ruku one is gud one is bad. when ruku did a adab to jodha after the mirchi war or when she was cooking halwa for jodha tht was real & not a natak. when she slapped hoshiyar when he told ruku to kill jodha's babies tht was also real. so like the viewers jalal had also viewed both sides of ruku. people may not agree, but the fact is despite of all her weaknesses & her deeds she has feelings & gud qualities. so jajo r also thinking in the same lines. for eg. despite of all the bad deeds maham loved adham dearly & even jalal. so a woman however power concious she is, will have the soft emotions & ruku is grey, not black. regarding jodha, she is always like this. she will always feel for others, especially a woman. jajo gave ruku tht 2nd chance after the FP just like they gave it to BB, nigar or zakira. & they havent seen anything after FP where they really can doubt her.
