To Mods : Please don't close this post . I know I should have made this post in booktalk forum , but that forum is not much active . And the book I'm talking about is realated to Indian history & Mughal Era , so I feel posting it in Jodha-Akbar forum should be allowed 😊

Hello Guys 😊 I don't know if anyone here remembers me , but I keep appearing here time to time 😆 Ok now coming straight to the point . I just found a book in crossword's online shop named Escape from Harem , written by Tanushree Poddar . I'm actually a bookworm & love to read periodic/historical novels . I was searching for good historical novels in Indian backdrop & this book showed up in result . Is anyone here who have read it ? ? I just want to know if this book features any wellknown Mughal emperor as important character or the characters are fictional ? & the incidents written here have any true basis or this is a pure imaginative product by the writer ?? The synopsis doesn't say much 🤓
Thanks in advance 😳

P.S - Did some research on Tanushree Poddar . She seems a Mughal specialist writer 😳 Apparently she has written a book on Nurjahan's daughter too 🤔

Yes I have read it
Its about a maid's daughter how she comes to work in harem. Jehangir uses her once for his lust. She becomes a maid to mumtaz later and khurram rebels. She becomes very close to mumtaz and khurram like their family. She takes care of the kids as they run avoiding the Mughal forces across the length of india. It talks of how she becomes like a mother and advisor to jahanara when mumtaz in unwell and after her death. You can read it its Okkk
In middle you start getting a bit bored and want to flip some pages fast. It has no great story but you can imagine how an harem must have been.
Nur Jahan daughter
Its about ladli bano Nur jahan's daughter. How as a kid she comes to Mughal harem with mother? How after 6 years jehangir sees her mother and marries her. Ladli's first father was a brute man and so she is always looking for some love and attention which she gets as a kid from jehangir. Ladli is fascinated by the riches and has secret crush on khurram, jehangir's fav son. But khurram does not love her and likes mumtaz more. Ladli is innocent girl. Khurram treats her nicely even flirting with her once increasing her hopes. She is even fine to be one of the wife of khurram but mumtaz her cousin opposes it. Ladli is heartbroken. Then her mom forces her to marry shariyar an useless prince because mom wants to control the empire thru ladli's husband. Ladli is just a pawn in her mothers quest for power and domination. Even mumtaz uses her to her means and then refuses her wedding to khurram as she feels ladli will dominate her or take away khurram from her. So its an interesting take from ladli viewpoint. She is innocent not street smart like her mother, cousin, khurram etc. You feel sorry for her.

Escape from Harem by Tanushree Poddar is a FICTIONAL STORY WITH HISTORIC BACKDROP😊. The main character Zeenat is also FICTIONAL. It can be read as an imaginative story set in Mughal era. Check this link. The author herself has mentioned this.

Hope this helps.
