This show is not just about akbar the emperor, but also about akbar as a son, brother, husband and a friend. It not only tries to portray what an unstoppable warrior Jalal was, but also attempts to depict his frailties as a human being.

The thing about history is that it is a winners tale, and thus no historical evidence can testify to Jalal's moments of utter dejection and loneliness. Can we honestly believe that Jalal who is all of 22 now, who has suddenly lost a father figure, has just witnessed sheer abhorrence of a mother, has had his future generations cursed for doom, has had to kill a brother after being betrayed by him - will not think that his kingship has given him so much suffering - will not hate his life and think of breaking free of the bondage that his crown has become.

Personally, if I can stand up and applaud him for being rightly harsh on Aadham, I will stand by and support him when he wishes to mourn all that he has lost and wants to simply get away from the everyone and everything. Jalal's life is a long and arduous journey, it is ok for him to sit and ponder if the road is is headed in the right direction, it is ok because I know if he ever gets lost, his destiny, his love will always bring him back.

As I said, I know he is human ... Dejection is not my issue nor is it that Jodha brought him out of the dejection

The issue is how the CVs changed the track from grieving about Atgah to something else thanks to their adding the curse

he never once asked if he was in the right direction ... He said he did not want the road destined to him

The episode is OK for me , enjoyed JJ scene..Today liked HB giving the responsibilities to TM & MS ignoring (her damaad) to the truely honest people.

Shariff back lusting before BB while Ruqu back to her MUZ auda...I just liked the little dream of JJ holding twins ..

My problem is never with Jodha or Jalal but CVs portrayal of them ... And there is a limit to how much they see saw the characters to let Jodha completely be the strength Jalal one fine day

Ya, just responded!

to me too please...

you know what Divi.. I LOVED this version no doubt at all 🤗 The sutble changes would have made it all different!

but really when have we NOT seen ja and jo overdramatize things in this serial?
Every small thing blows up into something big

A vachan to sujamal became a two month separation track.
A push from Jodha ended up in a near death experience from benazir
An intention to save khyber resulted in death of soldiers, destruction, badnaami, three days of adventure etc...

In comparison to all this, death of Atgah Khan is a real tragedy to strike a real man... yes, he is an emperor - but still a human too. And it's not like Jalal has always shown saintly/royal or superhuman traits na.. that's why i didn't find it too odd..
though they needn't have extended it uptil monday

Also, here I don't see anyone questioning Jalal's actions than the man himself - not Jodha, not us, not his family (except MA) So that just shows he is a man in grief now... a man with a conscience.. and a man who wants to be loved for himself rather than who he is! I think everyone is expecting too much from him😊

Since we're discussing portrayals - here is a comparison of some other portrayals I've seen (of historical figures) While Jalal is not the first king/man in power to have people plotting against him, he is not the first king/man in power to go into depression and start questioning himself and his power either!

The Tudor series showed that when Henry Tudor lost his love (wife no.3 I think), he shut himself away for a period and the kingdom went into autopilot. They had to get a court jester and friend to get him out of his depression! He became near-mad!

His trusted friend and best commander duke of suffolk (as shown in the tudor series) never seems to be the same man/fighter after he witnessed the massacres in the North.

Ivan the terrible is said to have gone all beserk when he assumed he lost his wife as a result of court politics! Gandhiji is said to have 'become tired' when despite all the fights he fought for a free India and managed to free India from British, he couldn't solve the partition! He had immense resolute against the invaders, but when his OWN men were fighting amidst themselves, he gave up and gave his go-ahead for the partition - partition of a nation he'd fought for yearsss on end!

Have you watched Elizabeth (the Great) the golden age - the movie is not all about glorifying her. What she'd achieved for England then, very few ladies could have boasted of achieving for empires! Yet, the movie showed quite a few of her dark days, weak points - where she was resorting to foretellers/soothesayers etc to see what the future held for her. Here also, she was constantly at logger-heads with her cousin (Queen of Scots) and it had quite an impact on her peace!

Quite a few of these biopics/stories on politicians I've seen where the man reaches a point - fed up of the responsibilities and nearly ready to give up power - till a best friend/mate/soulmate reminds him why he's here in the first place. Many of these men have been touted great. So... 😳

I'm just glad to see you up and positive my friend 🤗

@bold: exactly, don't we as audience get fed up of watching all the negativity, plotting, scheming on this show enough to quit watching, that too when we have to endure it for what 20 mins...poor Jalal ki toh life is this, no wonder he wants to call it quits !!!

At least appreciate the intent 😆 You know Hindi is not my first language.

well, yes u r right...Jalal was grieving for his loneliness, how all his loved ones going away from him, some by sacrificing their lives for him and some by backstabbing him, and then MA's curse and he dreading another loss in near future...I cant blame Jalal actually..he came in such a point where his mind is not working...he is also a human beyond any Badshahat and we should not forget that..I understand that he should grieve for Atgah's death now rather crying for his own loneliness he is suffering...

And this is where we slightly differ ... You see Jalal in pain and drunk mumbling and you are more lax on him ...but I see the CVs who consciously created the dialogues and that is who I am upset about

see, till BK's death and Maham's backstabbing he was fine, he didnt cry, he was only upset..but Atgah's death pushed him to the edge...he was murdered by Jalal's doodh bhai Adham and Adham came to kill him as well!!! as soon as he punished Adham, Maham cursed his unborn kids...! so much happened within a day one after one that he is not able to cope up...so he being in numb-self makes sense.

No, I truly believe it was the curse that drive him over the edge and that is what drove me over the edge 😆

rahi baat Badhshahat chodhne ki, well yes he forgot being Akbar momentarily...but at that time he was in deep pain...he was going through the saddest phase of his life..it is understandable.

Actually- I blame the CVs forgot he is Akbar

lets give him his space...see now he is back to work,..thanks to Jodha for igniting the fire inside him...all he needed a push and a motivation to come out from that grieve, he is not God after all.

To me, Friday's episode was equivalent to Jalal trying to commit suicide ... And I never thought they would show him that weak so they can show on Monday "Jodha brought our Shehenshah back"

I know the real Jalal would have been dejected and sad ... But if everytime he loses a loyal or family member, he stops doing his duty , what is the point of the sacrifice?

My issue is not with Jalal- it is with the CVs ... A proud moment in history they destroyed due to a stupid curse

These particular set of CV s r singularly unimaginative & noncreative , u can just see it from the scenes & dialogues we get. I bet this set of CVs is different from the preTasneem track ones. Neither is there that brilliance nor that beauty we d seen in that golden era.

I, for one, am back to my nil expectations mode once again with this show 😕 Let Jalal cry his eyes out & flood Agra & the neighbouring parts regretting killing his doodh bhai 😡 ( that's what it looks like now) & thereby earning the baddua of his Mahaan badiammi 🤢 . Let him leave his taqt & become a Sanyasi, then I ll also happily leave this show 😕 . Am sure Cheapu ya CoirMali will be only too happy to sit on the renovated taqt 😛 & give a cryingless rule 😕 . Am so so thoroughly pissed with this Rotlushah who seems so undeserving of this taqt or real loyalty 😡 . Rant over 😉 😆 . Now me waiting for Ruqqu s few moments of centrestage drama before she ll be permanently sidelined (my poor Ruqqu 😭 😭 ). But u really have to admire her never say die spirit, haina 😉 . Jallu, r u listening 😡

Gayathri, completely agree ... But I don't even give him credit for being a sanyasi .. A sanyasi does not run away from his life but wants to understand it.

On Ruq's, I had created a joking Take 5 on yesterday's episode (which I have not watched) and you will see we agree on Ruq's:

if I did a take 5 for the last episode, it would be dedicated to women power:

(1) HB had to tell us Jalal's decision to kill Adham was right

(2) HB had to call the shots as our Shehenshah was lost ... Was this the Shehenshah Atgah wanted to save? Or The Shehenshah sending a strong message to his enemies?

(3) Jodha brought the Shehenshah back ...

(4) The importance of the girl child

(5) Ruq's never lose attitude

😆
