I will say this is not the first serial where a false rape accusation has been made ... That being said, A few reasons it was upsetting
- The historical characters involved: Todarmal and Supposedly a Mughal princess ... Though as per Abhay, many folks were accuses of such things
- Positioning it as "nari shakti" - women empowerment is about supporting women when they are wronged not when they wrong others
- While maybe they thought Jodha was showing women in similar instances how to stand up for yourself in such situations ... By making it false accusation, took out all the value of it

The only saving grace is that Jalal is believing Todarmal and Todarmal is composed, and that's about it!

I want and expect Jodha to apologize and learn from her mistake.

I can understand your feelings and sympathize with you but there is a flip side to this. In india, if one person is arrested for rape or assault then ten people go scott free just because they happen to be influential.

We all know how great Todar Mal was, how much good he did for the country. But at this stage in their lives, Jalal does not know this, neither does Jodha. All they see is that a serious assault charge has been leveled by a mentally handicapped person against a very powerful and well connected man.

All the evidence is against Todar Mal and he made the situation worse by not confiding in anybody about his investigations.

What all evidence? He has just as much evidence FOR him as he has AGAINST him
The fact that both Jodha and Jalal know that he'd helped the Mughal Begums be transported to safety at a time when he was at an enemy camp
The fact that both Jodha and Jalal know that he'd given two lone travellers shelter (without any idea of their true selves) and risked his life to protect them from dacoits
How he'd understood that the Emperor was deliberately disguised in his home and yet managed to make Jalal understand his history with the Mughal Sultanat without giving away his secret
The fact that he has been running a woman's shelter in Mathura for months if not years and the fact that Shehnaaz has supposedly been living there.
How he'd found out the pilferage in his finance department within days of joining the Sultanat and fearlessly voiced it
(Jalal has possibly dealt with him for much longer wrt politics and economics on a daily basis - so, chances are that he KNOWS TM! He hasn't really arrested Shehnaaz yet, right? Though he has always had a bad intuition about this woman's intentions... he's only arrested Zakira since evidence was against her...)
If political intrigue was a daily going-on in the Mughal court (as you'd mentioned elsewhere) - esp against nobles etc.. then, all the more reason for Jalal to want to trust TM whose lineage and character he has a far greater idea of than this 'orphaned' childlike woman he knows nothing about...

I would any day consider all this ^^ long standing evidence of much greater impact and value than having watched him with the end of a lady's dupatta one day (that too when Jodha has seen in the past how Shehnaaz' dupatta was in Adham's hands too not so long ago)
If she is childlike - what about considering how child-like people do things without realizing too?
If TM was in the harem - so what? So was Maan. So was Sujamal. When her relatives do it for the sake of good, automatically story turns other way around when its someone else? Technically, she knows TM for longer than Shehnaaz!
She is happy to make Jalal understand and forgive Shareefuddin and Ruqaiyya (whose crimes were also pretty dastardly) but she is not ready to even listen to TM?

I don't know what exactly happened or did not happen in history. Yet, neither was her etiquette in the DEK befitting of her stature - nor was her stance.

However, the way Jodha's character is shaping up - even after their SR - where she's more concerned about Meena Bazaars and telling stories to Rahim while her husband is pleading her all the while to spend time with her is not my idea of how I thought a woman would be when she fell in love.

While I am disappointed with Jalal for other reasons, this is not one of them.

Similarly, if the makers have brought out such a message on Nari Shakthi, I would love for them to make Jodha actually announce at the end of this track that true Naari Shakthi remains in women standing for RIGHT AND JUSTICE - not just blindly means Standing by a woman!

As yet, there is NO direct evidence as such against Todarmal, except for TM seen with Shehnaaz & TM seen following Shehnaaz, for which TM has given totally acceptable reasons.
Of course, there is absolutely NO evidence at all, direct or indirect, against Shehnaaz.

So basically, it is a matter of TM's word against Shehnaaz's...

Jalal was willing to hear out both parties to arrive at a conclusion, though his gut feeling was with TM, which is a +ve trait (to be able to identify the guilty with your power of instincts)...

...on the other hand, we have Jo, who
1) was unwilling to hear TM at all, despite his long history with the Mughal Sultanate, despite his entire past history (Ajmer trip, Mathura trip, etc...)...
2) Jo believed in Shehnaaz, she thought that Shehnaaz has a "PAAWAN MANN", hence Shehnaaz is the pure one- what kind of intelligent thinking is this??!?😕
3) To top it all, without ANY CONCRETE DIRECT EVIDENCE against TM, she went berserk in the DEK against TM condemning him & tearing his reputation to shreds!!!...
4) Not for a moment, Jo is worried for her emperor husband's life, if at all what TM was saying was true...
5) Jo's gut feeling was with Shehnaaz, (the actual guilty one) which is a -ve trait...

Women empowerment & Feminism are terms meant to indicate EQUALITY for women with men ...not SUPERIORITY for women over men...high time people understood the difference between the two & stopped ridiculing serious social evils prevalent in our society.

Thank you Mehek25.
I am so immensely frustrated with what used to be my favorite show once upon a time , that I had to visit this thread.

Jodhas ghost must be feeding all the orphan children & animals in and around Karjat.
