Thanks for reviving memories of DD serials. They were so antiquated, OMG!!!!
The dialogs are good though the actors and their dialog delivery leaves a lot to be desired.
(Loved the words that a "kaum" is all the people living in a country, not just those belonging to a particular religion and Akbar's assertion that the ullemas should not assume that he didn't know anything about religion just because he was illiterate. He reiterated how he had had books read to him and could reach his own conclusions and didn't need the ullemas to form his opinions for him.)
I like the sets. Though they look like cardboard sets, still they are closer to what we have seen in Mughal-era paintings. This DEK is better than the DEK shown in JA.
It was interesting to read so many comments that indicate how much youngsters are amazed to see the story of Jodha Akbar before the movie. But even this serial came in 1998, which is also quite modern. Even before this date, there have been references to Jodha Bai. For instance, the movie Mughal-e-Azam (1960), where Durga Khote played Jodha Bai. This movie was inspired by a play read by K. Asif in 1944.
Coming back to this serial, would love to watch the entire show (missed its original telecast). đ The best part of DD serials was that the number of episodes was fixed. So the story couldn't drag. It had to be wound up in the limited number of episodes. Wish Zee would limit JA's episodes so that it becomes more fast-paced.đ
PS: Thanks Abhay for the link.đ
