Divya, I know a lot of ppl have said a lot on Jalal's caress of Jodha in the aarti scene but let me point out something for all -

This caress of Jodha by Jalal is exactly similar to his caress of her portrait - in fact when she comes in he is lost in his reverie of the picture - hence if you look at him here again you will realise he is not there - and the way he caresses her shows the same passion that we saw from him in the earlier scene - Jalal came back to reality only when she calls out to him.

The scene is very beautifully done thanks to RT's calibre as an actor and his ability to get into the skin of both the character and the situation. The initial Jalal who was caressing Jodha (the one lost in his dream) has that combination of passion and pain in his entirety but the Jalal in real space (the one who comes back when Jodha calls out to him) has that incredible combination of boldness, bashfulness, control and naughtiness - and this is what makes this scene spectacular.

Oh Lord, this is how you read my comments!😉

What I said was that THIS Pratap, Kunwar Pratap in JA, Anurag Sharma, looks 20 years older than this Jalal (NOT 20 years old!) whereas, in reality, he was only 2 years older.

Next, Faisal Khan is someone I have adored from his time in DID L'il Masters in 2012, which he won. He is the son of an autorickshaw driver from Mumbai and lived in a slum, but his schoolteacher spotted his talent and got him free dance tuition .He is very modest and adaptable and physically phenomenally agile. He is excellent at interpreting emotional songs and shers set to dance, and his aerial tango with a girl called Shalini was mindblowing. I still have DVD recordings of his best performances in that competition.

He is very good in Maharana Pratap, speaking shudh Hindi and emoting with perfect conviction. I am sure they will keep him on as long as they can, as they did with Rajat in Prithviraj Chauhan. Except that unlike Rajat, who could have taken adult roles at 19, with that square handsome face and his powerful build, Faisal will be limited in the roles he can do because he looks too boyish, and like Shahid Kapur, he will never look really mature,as Rajat can.

As for the show, they distort history far too much to show him as the victor every time; like now they are going to show him defeating Jalal in a duel when they are 14 and 16 respectively!

Spot on, Adiana, except that to my mind, it is not passion, but exquisite, delicate, gentle tenderness. The two are quite different, you will agree. There is no pain, only a kind of possessiveness and yearning. It is also not quite that he is not there; he is lost for a moment when he spots her, and then when he looks at her, it is that hesitant possessiveness for the real Jodha, a carryover from the way he caresses her cheek the night before.

As for the rest, I am with you in toto.

The history is totally skewed there, but the relations & costumes are PERFECT. 👏

as shahbaaz khan aka BK of MP had said now-a-days historical shows r 80% fiction & 20% history. though i was very young but i still remember shahbaaz khan's "the gr8 marathas", which was historically perfect & also look wise very gud.👍🏼

Shyamala, I agree but then the possessiveness translates into passion and the pain melts into tenderness - it if you look at Rajat - you actually see this melting transition. And yes when I said that he was not there when she enters his hojra what I meant was that he was lost in his reminiscence of her portrait and his soliloquies with it. 😆

My pet, no one in Maharana Pratap is supposed to be 20,. Jalal is 14 and Pratap is said (by Maharana Udai Singh) to be 2 years older, 16.

I once met that Aashka Goradia in Montreal, along with Chetan Hansraj (our Adham) in Montreal when I was the High Commissioner of India to Canada, at some function where I was the chief guest. At that time they were both working, as a romantic pair, in some Balaji serial called Kkusum, and were bemoaning the fact that they often reached the sets with no idea of what they would have to do during that day.

Chetan was tall, but nowhere near as huge as Adham is these days. Aashka is a lovely woman, and she must be enjoying playing the Lady Macbeth-like Dheerbaiji.

And as for who LOOKS 20, do see my clarification above re: what Aunty did NOT say!😉

@Aunty: SO TRUE!!!

The code of conduct is impeccable in MP, and Shakti Singh (?) is splendid as Rana Udai Singh.

The actor who plays Jalal is good too aunty, and looks his age. He doesn't look 20 at all!

But the real scene-stealer on this show is Faisal Khan. What a talented actor! 👏

No wonder they haven't been taking the oft-repeated Leap. He is magnificent & so believable as a young Maharana Pratap, no wonder he has won awards!

He's the most talented child actor on tv. I watch it just for him. ⭐️
The right mix of princely restraint & boyish fun. 😃

Aashka takes your breath away too, as the wicked Dheerbhaijee. I never knew she was such a good actress.

Their costumes, their sets & their relations- I wish SOME shows could take massive inspiration!!!! 😉

Yes he did marry Phool's sister. But it was much later. Not in that young age. And It was political marriage as usual. Not love marriage.
