I'm glad that you voiced out your problem to understand Jodha. For me, Jodha is one of the case where CV failed to make us understand or see what they want us to see just by watching the episode. To understand Jodha, you have to use your brain more than usual...😉 I'll try to help you with your question and please do understand that I'm always an AkDha's fan, not just Jalal's or just Jodha's fan.😃 First of all I want to say that this is strictly my thoughts that I want to share with my friends. Would be happy to get your views.
I made the topic "I don't understand Jodha's love". The reasons are stated below.
It was not a normal arranged marriage between Jalal & Jodha. Rather it was a forced marriage to solve some political issues. Jodha could not have positive feelings in such a marriage and she didn't have them too. Fine.
Then there were the series of incidents.. Jodha's gradual realization that Jalal was not that much a bad person as she previously thought of. Their relation started to change very slowly. There was still no trust that is required to establish any relation. She did a lot for him, even drank poison but every time she stated it as her kartavya' . Either she meant it or she didn't realize her actual feelings. In both cases we do not get the required essence. Yes, she was indeed insulted unnumbered times and often in public and Jalal was responsible in most of the time for the humiliation. And Jalal didn't love her. Then the biggest separation track came with the misunderstandings where her honor was questioned for which Jodha was equally, if not more, responsible. Now everything has been sorted out. Jodha is portrayed as the light of Agra'. She is being given credit for almost all the good deeds done by Jalal. More of them, it is being said that now Jodha loves jalal.
Now my question why does she love Jalal?
Even if you asked me, I can't give you the answer of why I choose my guy. I guess, love happened to anyone and anywhere without any logic reason. We can't choose our soulmate, it was arranged by The Divine Power, God. And she was attracted to him during the first time she saw his face during the first ganghaur like he did. That is why she couldn't forget his face. But like he mistook it as hate when she put the sword on his neck, she also mistook that she hates him once she found out that the man she couldn't forget is actually Jalal, her 'enemy'.
What makes her realize that now Jalal has a dil'? He always had that. It was she who failed to acknowledge.
I can't agree with you about this. She is the first person who acknowledge that he has heart even when he himself didn't acknowledge it. First, during their first sword-fighting scene. She knew that for him to be able to hate her means that he hates her from his heart like she did. Then, during their first trip to Ajmer where he donates all of his jewelries to his people, then at Ajmer where her soul said that the first time she saw another side of him and that she thinks that his heart is faintly beating, then when he only think about others when he thought he was about to die during Mohan's attack, his kindness during Sukanya's wedding and the first time she knew that her guess that Jalal has heart is right is when she saw his tears because Bakshi Banoo.
Another thing that viewer forget is, another important aspect for this relationship to work is for Jalal to acknowledge that he has heart. Like you said in the last paragraph is 'Love is something that binds two souls with one another'. Until, Jalal acknowledges his own heart, Jodha's soul/heart will forever standing alone in this relationship... open to be hurt by Jalal's logic like he did that night. Because, until Jalal acknowledges his heart, he can't truly love someone.
Jalal forgave shivani which he never should and he abolished tirthkar' that he did because he thought it should be done. She was adamant not to return Agra as she was hurt, she feared that this kind of fiasco may again take place. Now which of Jalal's decisions makes her believe that this would not happen and she can stay at her sasural with dignity?
It is not about WHICH decision but about HOW he makes those decision. For the first time ever he makes huge decisions guided by his heart not his brain. He fully aware of what his Mughal people will think about his decision to forgive Shivani. He also aware of the problem he might face about his decision to stop the tax. Old, guided by brain Jalal will think over and over again and will give in to his logic because his logic said he'll lost financially and the support from his Mughal people if he stop the tax. But, this time he goes against his logic and follow his heart because his heart says that it is the best and the right thing to do. Now that he makes these decisions, he proved to Jodha that he acknowledges the fact that he does has a heart.
What changes her feelings?
This time is not about her feeling as her feeling is already changed before the night but can she trust him with her heart again? When did she give him her heart? Jodha is slowly revealing her feeling right after she gained her conscious after the poison drinking. In their first conversation after that, she openly admit that she didn't like the way Ben dress up in front 'somebody else's husband' a.k.a her husband to Jalal which made him stunned. And she also asked him directly 'You're MY husband, right?' when she wants him to accompany her to the garden. But, suddenly, her dream of togetherness with him destroyed when he ended their relationship that night.
Did she not love Jalal as shivani was not forgiven? Did she not love Jalal as there was pilgrimage tax on Hindus? If she was not a bit moved by Jala's manofying her and seeking forgiveness then how come she be all ready to accept her fault and return to him?
She was tempted to forgive him. Remember at the ashram when she got mad at Kahna? Asking Him why Jalal is here? Why You keep testing my heart? etc...At that point she was tempted to just forgive him. But I understand where she was standing. Sometimes when you have to much hope for something that other said impossible like in this case, Jodha is asking for Jalal's love a.k.a heart, when it really is happening, it becomes too good to be true that you refuse to believe it.
Jalal has changed a lot. Has Jodha changed that much to accept him as her husband in true sense? If he punished shivani (which would be just) and took more time to take decision about p. tax, will she change her mind so abruptly?
This is where the CV failed big time. They never focus on to show us what was Jodha thinking other than her ghirna and cold, rude verbal respond to him everytime he tried to be close to her that we failed to see that she is too... is changing. As the result, everytime she changed, it looks so sudden, forced and abruptly. Another problem is the inconsistency on 'I love him' today and 'I don't love him' tomorrow.
She took her returning decision in the base of two incidents that have no actual connection with her hurt and fear.
She didn't take her returning decision base on the two incidents but she took the decision base on how Jalal made decisions about these two incidents. She took her returning decision because Jalal acknowledges his heart and his 'heart vs brain' problem is the actual connection with her hurt and fear.
Love is something that binds two souls with one another. The one thing we can never get enough of is love. And the one thing we never give enough is love. Love has nothing to do with what you are expecting to get - only with what you are expecting to give - which is everything. Is Jodha ready to accept this most precious gift of life?
She was ready since she regained consciousness after she coma during Ben track. Remember, she regained conscious after Jalal's soul's tell her he loves her and will never let her go. She woke up believing what Jalal's soul told her - If I'm alive then you will too. And you die, I'll die too. We have to live for each other. My life is in you and your life is in me... I'll fight with your destiny and anyone but I'll never let you go...God will answer all your prayer and He will fulfill all my wishes. If God does exist, he'll never take you away from me. 😊
