I'm back with another piece of writing. 😉 Hope you like it. Here it goes-

Part 1

His brooding eyes shed tears, striving for her long lost personage. He had to subterfuge as a commoner for assistance in pursuing her.

Today, the mighty Shahenshah himself, strode along the lane to Mathura in hurry. This wasn't the first time Jalal was on foot and in a disguise. Prior to this, he'd

visited Sheikh Salim escorted by his love and consort, Jodha. He was insistent and determined to get her and arrive back home, at Agra.

He was remorseful for arraigning Jodha of such an ignoble act. He made his way through the throng of people who had collocated to mark the frolic-filled day of Holi.

They were avid and ardent to hue their kinsfolk and friends.

For a moment, Jalal's dejected look had switched to a content and ecstatic one. He drifted into flashback and recollected his first Holi with Jodha.

She had drenched him with tinted water. He had reciprocated by showering almost all the plates of 'tagda' gulaal on her. She wasn't recognizable after that incident.

It took a week or two for the color to come off wholly.

On the spur of the moment, a native came forth and smeared gulaal on Jalal's face.

He, all of a sudden, stepped into the real world.

"Bhai saab, aap kahe ekaaki khade huye hain? Shahenshah ne sultanat ke sabhi rahvaasiyon ko ek samaan Holi ka tyohaar manaane ki anumati di hai. Aayiye..", the native said, with a broad smile on his color-stained face.

"Humein..", Jalal was cut off. He was pulled by the native into the exuberant and blithe crowd.

He had to join in for the importunate native's complacency. As Jalal immersed into the gusto, he caught sight of an enchanting lady, merrily talking to a little kid.

When asked by the kid, she told her name as Kajri. Wait. Wasn't that the name which Jodha had taken up for their trip to Sheikh Salim? And even her tone and appearance

resembled Jodha's. He doubted if it was her. His battle with his inner self recommenced.

Jalal emancipated himself from the jovial horde of people and was lost in his own thoughts.

The memories of the good times spent with Jodha stirred in his psyche. They were taken over by the lamentation of hurting her.

" Tujh sang bair lagaya aisa

Tujh sang bair lagaya aisa

Raha na main phir apne jaisa

Ho raha na main phir apne jaisa

Ye laal ishq, ye malaal ishq

Ye aib ishq, ye bair ishq..."
