Friends, the episode yesterday again seemed like a medley of many disparate things. There seems to be a feel of loose ends getting slowly tied up in readiness for the big confrontation between Jodha and Jalal on Friday. I am not motivated to write much today and will reserve my best writing for Friday. But meanwhile here's all that happened in brief ...
Jodha and Jalal talk at cross purposes to each other
The episode opens with alternate sentimental scenes of Jodha and Jalal. Jodha is confiding in Moti that she and Jalal seem so distanced. "I wanted that night, when he came to me, to apologise for that "dhakkka' that so irks him, and yet ..." she trails off. And then she adds "Nowadays he doesn't even talk to me."
Meanwhile Jalal is also confiding in Maham saying "What is there to talk about if she won't come and tell me what she is hiding from me? I used to think of her as my wafaadar and a nek person, but now I doubt that." Maham says "Why don't you try to talk to her?" "What's the use?" he says dejectedly, "If she wants to hide things from me, what's the point of asking about it!"
The scene cuts again to Jodha where she's telling Moti "I have to try and talk to him. I have to tell him that my feelings for him have changed." Moti says "Yes, you now acknowledge you love him. Then lose no time. Go and tell him that you now love him".
Jalal meanwhile is continuing to tell Maham "I am unable to remain without talking about all this any longer. I know she did the brave thing of saving my life. But her hiding the secret from me is eating me up. Just when things are improving between us, why did this have to happen?"
Adham loses Malwa and his patience is wearing thin
At the DEK, Adham makes an elaborate affair of showing and giving Jalal all the spoils of the Malwa War. Jalal laments the loss of Pir Mohammed. But to Adham's utter consternation, Jalal then declares his new subehdar for Malwa ... and it's not Adham! Its Abdullah Khan! This decision has been reached after consultations with Atga, Jalal announces.
Maham and Adham are positively fuming. Later in Maham's room, Adham's henchmen are instigating him to fight against Jalal, but Maham stops them from going too far. Adham swears revenge against Atga for giving Jalal this idea - and against Jalal for the injustice. He even takes out his dagger and gives a few stabs in the air like he's killing all his enemies.
Maham meanwhile makes a big statement. She says she will strip Jalal of his Delhi takht and get that for Adham. She says she has already laid out all the plans for a long time and now it just needs execution. She wants to give Adham his takht without killing Jalal for whom she still has a soft corner as she was his Dai Ma. But she is sure this time she will strip Jalal of his Delhi takht, come what may, and help her own son Adham ascend the throne.
Ruq and Maham plan to catch Jodha-Dilawar red-handed
Ruq calls Maham to her room to share news. It seems Hoshiiyaar is still on Ruq's side and has given the news that Jodha and Jalal are now more distanced from each other than ever before. Maham is not to be outdone. She gives her own news to Ruq that the "gair mard" Jodha has been meeting secretly at nights is a Rajvanshi, now infiltrated into the palace and even the harem as Dilawar Khan, the khwaja sera of Bakshi. Ruq is totally shocked to hear this. She wants to go to Jalal with this information right away but Maham stops her saying "Better to catch them both red-handed as we then need no further subooth to prove our story". Maham than outlines, in mute to Ruq, some devious plans to trap Jodha with Dilawar.
Sujamal almost sees the murder weapon in Sharif's box
Sujamal is watching over a sleeping Bakshi in her room, when Sharif enters and doesn't want Bakshi to be awakened. He merely asks Dilawar to hand him his coat from a box. Dilawar opens the box to take out the coat, but just beneath the coat is that flute that the assassin-henchman of Abul Mali used to try and blow poisoned darts at Jalal on the day of the jashn attack. Sujamal however fails to see this murder weapon. He hands Sharif the coat and Sharif leaves.
Sujamal (aka Dilawar) then suddenly then gets summons from Mahamanga that he has been re-assigned to Ruq and should quit Bakshi's quarters. By now Sujamal has had a lot of flashbacks also of Jalal getting suspicious of his disguise during Hoshiyaar's birthday. He puts two and two together and thinks that too many people (i.e. Jalal and Maham) have now started feeling suspicious of him and he should act faster in nailing Jalal's potential killer - or he may get exposed himself.
Ruq meanwhile deliberately asks her new khwaja sera (Dilawar) to massage her legs knowing that Rajvanshi men will not touch women's legs. Dilawar also talks to himself that he will never bow to such a request.
The new manipulated Sujamal portrait makes Jalal see red!
Meanwhile Maham puts into execution her plan to trap Dilawar. She starts by commissioning the portrait painting lady to take a good look at Dilawar before sending out Dilawar from the room. She then gives some mute instructions to the painter and forces her to do a painting exactly as she wants. What that painting looks like comes out in the precap. ...
In the precap, Maham is showing Jalal the painting where Sujamal in his khwaja sera clothes also has a moustache and beard. Seeing the painting Jalal recognised that the new khwaja sera Dilawar is none other than the same "gair mard" whom he saw Jodha meeting at nights. Jalal becomes livid with shock and rage.
My comments on the whole episode:
What can I say by way of analysis? Jodha and Jalal seem to be marching in the same place. Maybe Jodha just about said openly to Moti that she is in love with Jalal, her feelings about the dhakka are now every different and she wants to talk to him openly about it. But all the time, he is speaking at cross-purposes. He confides in Maham (of all people) that he wants to pour his heart out to Jodha too, but what can he say? She is not forthcoming with her revelation of her secret meetings - and its again not her meetings but her keeping it secretive that is eating him up. Well folks, they both have at least acknowledged that something needs to be discussed openly as their individual feelings have reached that point ... but so far, I feel, they are only having talks about having talks!
On the other side the downfall of Adham seems imminent. We all know that historically he was dead against Atga on the financial frauds front, but here was one more reason for that. Atga had supported Jalal in giving the Malwa subehdari to Abdullah. Another interesting point to note is that Maham said she had already laid all plans for stripping Jalal of the Dehii takht and for getting it for Adham. She said only the execution of the plans she had already laid was now necessary. Could this be something to do with her weekly dargah visits and the paigams she got from the surang which she burnt? Could Maham be having some co-conspirator working on dethroning Jalal from the Delhi takht?
After seeing the Maham-Ruq scene of mutual exchange of "news" (and a plot to unmask Dilawar and Jodha's affair before Jalal), again a doubt surfaces in me ... why does Maham need Ruq's connivance in all this? Is it merely to shift Dilawar from Bakshi's service to Ruq, so that they can both engineer a clandestine meeting between Dilawar and Jodha? I am actually confused as to why Maham is taking Dilawar away from Bakshi , because I would have thought Dilawar under Bakshi would more freely roam the palace and try to meet Jodha, whereas under Ruq his movements may get restricted, thus actually negating Maham's plans? Anyway, let's see what exactly Maham has planned.
One thing she has planned for sure is to take the whole Dilawar news to Jalal in the most dramatic way possible so as to deeply enrage him. Hence the new painting of Dilawar has been commissioned, in khwaja sera clothes but with a mush and a beard. In the precap Jalal surely recognises this guy as the same "gair mard" Jodha was secretly meeting and his anger really boils up to know that this guy is now masquerading as Dilawar, the khwaja sera inside the palace harem!
Now Sujamal really has to act very fast to catch his criminal before he himself is caught as a criminal. You all can imagine my disgust when he opened Sharif's box to take out his coat and failed to see that jashn attack murder weapon there ... that flute that was used to blow poisoned darts.
Now it's all become a race between Sujamal and the real culprit. We all already know that Sujamal will somehow catch that culprit and save Jalal from yet another life-endangering attack, just before Maham's plan to unmask Sujamal can happen. But even if we know the story, we have to live through some more boredom in Thursday's episode (when again things may just about tighten but not come to fruition).
I think Friday is the big day when both events will happen almost simultaneously. Jalal will have this big outburst with Jodha and send her packing. She will take him literally at his words and decide to leave the palace. Meanwhile Sujamal will save Jalal from the arrow and make his full speech exonerating himself and Jodha. And Jalal will run to stop Jodha from leaving ... but alas, he will be a bit too late.
Will all this happen on Friday? I hope so. I want all this to be over fast, this week itself, so that from Monday we can have Jalal hunting down Jodha and the reconciliation between them (don't forget the forehead kiss and the kiss on her tears!).
Tomorrow you will probably get another blah analysis from me, because I am saving my best for Friday! Hope that's OK, folks?
P.S. OMG, just saw the new promo with the kiss and make up. Can't wait for the whole scene!
