I can ask you the same question. How are you so sure Ruq was favoured by Akbar? I suppose even you weren't a part of the 16th century. What we can believe are the different contemporary accounts and historical chronicles. Cross-reference and re-confirm the incidents in more than one account. Only then the real picture shall emerge.
When did anybody say Ruq wasn't important? She was the first wife of Akbar and a Mughal princess. These two positions themselves make her powerful in both court and harem. But the article that you have posted paints a very wrong picture. She was powerful, agreed but not THAT powerful.
The most powerful woman in Akbar's era was MUZ (Jodha). That I am sure without a doubt. Since you have read Abhay's post, you do know why I am saying this.
Many muslim bigots resented MUZ's influence over Akbar a lot. Abhay has given in a post of his that Aurangzeb closed down the royal libraries soon after his accession to 'clean stuff up'. Even I have read about it. Raising one queen's status to downplay the effect of other queen. That is what they have done. They effectively erased MUZ's mention/influence in many accounts but not all. That is why info about MUZ is so difficult to come by.
If you want to know real history, avoid blogs and articles which site no references and read Abhay's post. If you don't believe Abhay's posts, do your own digging then. And you will know what I am talking about. 😉
