Peepu Jalal is a Shenshah, why would he think about women in his haram, he is 21!

Jodha showed him those things which he would not have given thought also, he was busy fighting wars remember!

If Jalal had gone around asking Qs there would have been posts how can Shehenshah be shown doing this!

I guess Jodha never wins, she is kind person so she noticed things which MA & Ruk would not bother with so why bash her!

This does not make the emperor blind in any sense as he has bigger things to focus on.
So what if it was Jodha that brought it up? As an emperor what's is important is he takes the right action when issues are brought forth which he promptly does each time an issue is put forth.

EXACTLY a 21 year old man is supposed to think about the conditions of women in his haram?

Common he told Jo also he is not interested till she said they are also his awam
Jo only showed him things she noticed which MA & Ruk did not bother about

Jo bashers will bash her for anything!

Hello,
Every govt or kingdom has a system. One man can not run it. The responsibilities has to be distributed. A King is not an omnipotent being. Otherwise, all of us would be directly going to PM instead of local adminstraters.

He will mostly take up issues which comes to him, either through complaints from awam, of his administraters or from Harem head.

It is his greatness that he does not dismiss Jodha's concern as small and rather takes a deeper look at the issue in hand. It is his greatness that, Jodha while showed him about only small part of his kingdom, will now be able to think for all and bring in reforms. Therein lies his greatness, that he listens to people and has a broader and futuristic aproach. 😃

When things happen for a very long time and people see it everyday, it becomes a norm. Even the evils of the society are accepted as normal over time by people who are surrounded by them. They take it as a part and parcel of life till an outsider comes and shows them the mirror.

Same is the reason with Jalal and co.

Slavery is a norm for them. That is why there had been no correction of it earlier.

Even Sati was commonplace at that time. No less of an evil than slavery. It was constantly on mind of a woman who's husband had gone to war. Some willingly threw themselves in their husband's pyre and others were forced too. But the general public didn't bat an eye even when widows were drugged/beaten/pushed into the fire alive. It was a norm thus, nobody cared. People learn to live with evils.

In today's age, we have abolished the older evils but newer ones have gained prominence. Corruption has plagued the Indian system since time immemorial and we had accepted it as part of our life. But populist Anti-corruption wave in the country has been very recent. So, wasn't corruption a menace before all this? It definitely was but the discontent and the anger against it was brewing within only. Rise of a leader gave people hope and they latched on it.

Same as happened with Jodha in the harem issue. The begums and bandhis were oppressed by Ruqs. But they were constantly looking for an opportunity to replace her with someone more understanding. No formal complaints against her were ever lodged. But there was an anti-Ruq wave in harem.

Coming back to the slavery topic, Jalal did know about slavery prevalent in his kingdom. He had made numerous POW as slaves himself. He never gave it a thought as it was a norm to have people captured in war to be sold off. He was never introduced to it's human side and the impact it had on the person's life. He needed someone to give him an insight into this sensitive issue. But he never got one till today when Jo gave him a round of the ugly side of harem. Only a compassionate person for whom this ain't a norm would have been able to provide this moment.

I have no qualms for jodha talking to jalal ... as they are husband and wife. ..I loved the way jalal said that haram was jodhas responsibility...it is the strength of emperor that he wants and fixes right people at right places.but yes if her questions jodha he doesn't trust but if he doesn't he is blind

Emperor is not blind, he knows and have seen more than Jodha. He knows enslavement is very much active in his sultanate and it was their since the time of his forefathers. What he does not know is how the gulams and their wives and children treated by the one's who buy them! and how the innocent children suffer because of this. Jodha just showed him this much, but now he will see their miseries inside harem and outside of the palace with his own eyes. He does not need Jodha for that, he is wise enough to find a solution on this and act on it. He is busy with the administration and expansion of his empire(I suppose so) and someone needs to draw his attention towards these matters which the society and his courtiers does not give importance to.
The execution could have been much much better. That bandi is supposed to cook in kitchen, no one was beating or cursing her!! Jodha had already sent the ill baandi to get medicines from the Hakim and Babu's sudden dialogue of 'Aap hamare gunhegaar hai' was more like someone has taught the boy to say this to the emperor. Somehow the scenes did not look convincing and Jalal had very less dialogues!!!! and hence you might be thinking the emperor is blind. But I would say lets wait for the end results, and see if he gets the whole credit to abolishing the slavery system 😉.

look jalal definitely knew about it, but he was not aware how severe he was. just like he & even jodha were aware of child marriage but didnt knew how cruel it was. they protested against it only when they saw it with their own eyes. 2ndly, jalal is just 21. he didnt spend much time in agra till now, bcoz he was busy in expanding his kingdom. & kings never interfered in the harem issues bcoz they were basically busy in wars. & jalal was extra busy bcoz he had to do more work to regain the old position of mughal empire. even real akbar also never knew how cruel things were until he saw it. just like he didnt knew anything about pilgrim taxes until he faced it. like jodha said tht dasi is working for last 35 yrs.(though tht sounded weird) so means forget about jalal, even HB is not aware of it & even if she is aware she cant do anything despite she was a kind-hearted lady. so emperor is not blind, he was just in fulfilling his ambitions of expanding his kingdom. the other things were handled by his officials after the war was over. & we also cant forget he was under BK till he was 18, so BK used handle these issues.
