Friends, those who watched yesterday's Jodha Akbar will forgive me for making Maham the lead actor of the show! She pulled all the strings and the Shahehnshah of the Sultanate and his two begums danced like puppets .
The whole episode from start to finish was supposed to be a boatride ... one wife the Begum-e-Khas was planning a romantic date with her husband the Shahenshah. Maham quickly switched messages and made the other wife Jodha go instead as the "Khas Begum" ... while the first wife saw how she had missed the boat by a whisker. End of story.
What analysis can I do of the episode? Here is the whole episode in just twelve sentences.
1. Ruqaiya's bandhi came to give Jalal the message that Ruq (the Begum-e-Khas) had fixed a boatride for herself with the Shahenshah. Maham intercepts the bandhi and makes her tell Jalal's guard the information. And then Maham tells the guard that the message was from the Khas Begum Jodha, who had recently become so khas by saving Jalal's life.
2. The guard tells Jalal exactly that! Jalal's eyes are filled with glee at the prospect of an outing with Jodha. He tells the guard to tell Jodha he is waiting to go on a boatride with her that evening.
3. So Jodha thus gets Jalal's message that he has invited her for the boatride. She is all coy to get dressed up and Moti ribs her about wanting to dress well for the Shahenshah!
4. Ruq is also dressing with great care in her hojra, with the help of Hoshiyaar!
5. Jalal too is dressing up with great care, looking like the golden boy. For added impact he dabs on some khas ittar behind his ears and he is ready.
6. Maham and Resham now run to see that Jodha gets ready first and goes first to the quayside to reach the boat earlier than Ruq.
7. But to Maham's consternation Ruq is ready earlier and about to leave. So Maham stops her by saying she should go with a gift for the Shahenshah. This successfully delays Ruq.
8. Jodha meanwhile departs in an express doli to Maham's delight, and reaches the riverside meeting place faster than Ruq. Ruq is also en route there, but her doli is a critical few 100 feet behind.
9. Meanwhile the waiting Jalal is mersmerised by the arrival of Jodha and beckons her into the decorated boat. They both sit inside maintaining a regal distance between them - so that they can eye each other without becoming cross-eyed. They are both blushing and beaming.
10. Ruq arrives at the quayside just a trifle too late - in fact just in time to see the grand boat already just left the shore with Jalal and Jodha in it. She has gaalis at the tip of her tongue.
11. Maham and Resham guffaw with laughter at their successful switch of wives in the boat! Maham says she is not Ruq's fan and wants to give Ruq a bad time for insulting her in public once. But as for Jodha, Ruq's jealousy should ensure that she has a prickly life and quits Agra. Thus both will suffer!
12. In the precap, the two in the boat - Jodha and Jalal - are either not saying anything or talking together ... and then saying how similar they both are!
Story over. All can now go home!
I'll just end this happy post with LONG LIVE MAHAM!
(The rest is up to you guys. You can go into ecstasies over their clothes, the ittar, the brainless wives of Jalal, or the number of teeth Maham has. I am so speechless that words are not coming to me!)
