Sandhya, Jalal promoted Jodha way back - the issue is that Jodha has never accepted it.

Jalal may promote or want to promote Jodha - problem is that Jodha does not want to take it becoz she looks on herself as the outsider - and until she is ready and willing to be a part there is no point in his sitting Ruqs down and having a talk with her - what talk can he have and what will he say???

The minute Jodha accepts her place and her position that he himself has given her - then let us see if does or does not sit Ruqs down for that chat - until then the man is absolutely correct in his wait and watch mode.

adi, take a big 🤗..from me! after going through the discussions that is what exactly came into my mind, he very well knows jodha's capabilities but she always thinks herself to be an outsider..now she will get more involved in harem and in jalal's life..and jalal might give harem to ruq at the end and more bigger and better things will come jodha's way as per history too!

Pallavi, my dear, there were flourishing public slave markets in the southern United States till slavery was abolished in 1865.

If you take even a cursory look at the book, Gone with the Wind, you will understand that.
Africans were sold by their chiefs in Africa, brought to New Orleans in overloaded cargo vessels in chains. Many died in transit and were written off as bad lots.

Then they were put on public display and auctioned. The old Slave Market in New Orleans is now a ghoulish tourist spot. Families were very often split apart at these sales. In the GWTW book, Gerald O'Hara's wife persuades him to buy the wife and daughter of a male slave he has bought, so that the family could be together.

Great Britain abolished slavery in its colonies only in 1839. Till then, most of the great English fortunes were based on slave labour in the West Indian and African plantations. As for the atrocities perpetrated in the Belgian Congo, which was the personal property of King Leopold II, till the late 19th century, are concerned, even a brief account of them would turn your stomach.

So the kind of 16th century slave markets, at which the prisoners of war were sold, which were shown on Saturday, are nothing new, or peculiar to Mughal India. The only thing is that the slaves would not have been kept starved and thirsty, if only because they would not sell well if they looked so bedraggled. Plus, no one would have carted old women along, they would not have been worth anything.

God, my eyes are worse than ever, but I had to set things right on this one! More tomorrow, I hope. Mandy dear, do keep your fingers crossed for at least some improvement this week! I am SO very tired of sore eyes, no reading, no nothing!

Oh we had the birthday gift of awaam ki dua where the whole lot of villagers could visit the king in the palace to give him dua but couldn't visit the dea on an ordinary working day to ask him for a well. (And our mother teresa knows exactly where and how)

When has jalal been indifferent enough to deprive his people water? Even after ben poisoned the well orders were given for another well to be dug. Even screeching banshee ordered digging of another well after dumping ben in one.

Jalal's brains suddenly started working on reverse gear in tasneem track and he ordered for mass divorces and tearing apart existing families to save one tasneem. Till jd (jodha devi) came out with the most wth sort of 'solution'.

Now comes this slave scene. Why should slaves be starved or deprived water. They will fetch a good price only when healthy. Only so that jd can quench their thirst and become the 16th century maseeha? And how does jd's winning harem elections save that little boy and that thirsty lady she imagined on the scales. (How was ruqs responsible for those chained slaves? )
Jd could well save the slaves of the country by giving a big bhaashan to jalal as usual. Simple. Mission accomplished.

So much going on and ullu jallu as usual ignorant leaving jd as the only save-the-people hopeful. (Btw, was the salvery system prevalent only under Mughal rule?). And nobody in the whole palace, even the sympathy-filled sb, hb or atga knew what was going on in the palace and even inform jallu if not bhaashan him or appeal to him to change the system.

What are the cvs reducing jodha and jalal to in order to churn their trps? They are giving jodha a false gild worthy of tease and jalal shades of incompetence and worthlessness in all matters except jd.

The spirits of Akbar, hk and ruqaiya should whip these chaps

When the premises, initial characterisation, lead pair and the ensemble are lovely interesting and admirable why don't the story tellers give us a realistic event build up? Why the bumpy ride discontinuity and charecter-butchering?😭

Hi lashy
Was back on sat. 😃

I am sure that most of us loved the scales scene, jo and hb scene and the last scene of the ME a lot.

You are in the majority in liking the ME .

But I (as usual) was not convinced about the projection of slavery and the need to smuggle the boy into the palace when jalal would have no problem housing the orphan or finding his mother. Jodha surely must have known that much about jalal by now. Unless he is hidden with the sole purpose of solving the kanha murthi issue.- this again makes the plot contrived. 🤔

Secondly jalal's approach and support to jo is so lovable ( in fact he was the definition of a supportive husband👏) but his attitude to ruqaiya equally distasteful. You don't egg your friend to commit more blunders. If she no longer caters to your taste there are better ways to tell her off. Even when you have a stupid pet cat in your house for long and you find better company now ,you don't ignore or irritate or provoke the cat so much that she becomes a nuisance giving you a reason to dump her. You have more sympathy even for a long associated pet cat or dog.😕
