Ruqu was only person who married him and he got benefitted by her property and provinces and she never got anything in return instead she stayed loyal to him her step son salim her grandson khurram. If she did some injustice it was to khurram mother jodh bai not to salim's mother hira bai at all and never to jalal. They all took advantage of her because she did not have parents, siblings no one to call her own unlike salima, jodha and others who had maternal family etc to fight for them.
All other wives/cocubbines married him for his power including jodha and for what they got after marrying him like jodha's father got back amer, protection for life, his sons and grandsons got mansabdari and jalal got loyalty from rajputhana amer state for life
Salima a widow got protection for life and her fate secured
But what did ruqu get from akbar 300 more wives 1000 more cocubbines and he took away her freedom, her right to marry someone she loved, her father's property(mind you her father owned huge places as mirza gifted by babar in his native lands) and all hindal mirza's money and jewels etc.
I do not understand why people abuse ruqu whether real/reel? She lost much more and gave jalal much more and he used her royally all life. But all other wives benefitted from marrying him and he them. But in jalal-ruqu case he benefitted and she lost everything. In 21st century this would be clear case of cheating from husband for profits and then abondoning wife for other women.
Ruqaiah in serial is possessive so what? any wife will be and more so a childhood friend cum wife who has no other family in her life to go to to share her pain, happiness apart from jalal. So i never see ruku as villan and think she was used and abused by jalal and others because she was all alone in world. If someone loved her selflessly it was khurram and then salim. No others loved her or cared for her all life that is clear from reading many historical books and also seeing how jalal and hamida etc behave with her in serial. I can totally sympathise and see why she is possessive she is insecure has no family apart from jalal. Once salim and khurram came along in her life she stopped being insecure because she found unconditional love and support some anchors for her life and hence she let go akbar and concentrated on them and gave them unconditional love and care. So much that when she visited her father hindal's grave as pilgrimage they both accompanied her along and jehangir no matter what pressure from nur jahan never gave malika-e-aliya post to her out of respect for step mom. That shows how much salim, khurram both loved her and she in return because love(especially non blood related step relationships) cannot develop without true love.
And akbar was guilty so he gave her whatever she wanted and like jehangir mentioned was giving her max love and attention because he was guilty later on in life for injustice he did to her. Ruqu had 3 kids who died from jalal and 1 kid from salima so means jalal did not mind having physical relationship with cousins. He even married salim to many first cousins so although he may have banned or be against such marriages it means that he was fine with him, his sons, grandsons all marrying cousins. So we cannot deduce he disliked marrying ruquu and salima.
Yes in serial they are showing ruqu as too much negative but so is jalal how he schemed agianst jodha with ruqu now suddenly he fell in love with jodha so he is treating ruqu badly and indifferently. Ruqu is doing out of insecurity and its OK if it does not go to murder attempts like maham. Isn't jodha insecure about other wives do not she ask about benazir, feel sad if he give more attention to ruqu or salima(DEK once) so why only ruqu villan and other wives like salima, jodha good. They have salim, rahim whom did ruqu have and they had families parents, siblings she have no one. I think history ruqaiah was an innocent soul and reel ruqaiah is scheming but again not so clever and cannot make out others taking advantage of her.
