Exactly, Tripti. I had mentioned the part in bold in my long take on Ruqaiya above, and the part in blue is extremely perceptive and very well put.

Don't worry, Jalal will not change as far as this aspect is concerned. Sandhya is fast making me think that she was Priam's daughter in an earlier incarnation (Cassandra, of course!)😉

But - For a very long time until he feels she has done something that is un-forgivable, Jalal will be very kinds towards Ruqaiyya. He isn't the sort to forsake a very old & very loving relationship for a new one. Another reason why I love the character so & I hope they let him remain so!!

He'll be compassionate to the pain I am sure he'll sense, to the anger & bitterness that will spout from her.

He'll protect Ruqaiyya from herself, as from his relationship with Jodha.

They would be both vulnerable, Ruqaiyya far more, than Jodha, and if I know Jalal - That would worry him immensely.

More tempting for the likes of us, Cuddly Bear, but decidedly not for the multitudes who bring in the ad revenues.

And even for me, 500 episodes of Akbar the Great being just that would be too much. These days, I cannot even stand 12 episodes on Henry VIII, and any version of his life is always ovewhelmingly about women. Though he never had any love woes. He moved on to a new woman only after disposing of the old one!

In any case, no one stays the same, with or without a romantic relationship, though Jodha does plug at it to an irritating extent with her Salvation Army lectures.

Now to see how much she keeps that up when she has fallen in love with him. I noted on Friday that in contrast with the last session she had with Jalal in the garden, when she was holding forth on the beneficial properties of moonlight before moving on to more improving topics, apparently for the whole night, this time she was almost entirely silent and spent the time looking at Jalal when he was not looking at her, and at times even when he was.

It looked promising for the next week. She might still be too busy niharofying her patidev to think up more bhashans! She had already started doing that in the precap.

I think by weekend's end, my Jo-Ja crush is pretty much over.😆 There's bound to be a triangle, bound to be comparisons. Ruq accepts Jalal the way he is. Jo has already tried to bhashan and harangue him with a view to changing him? Of the two, I like Ruq's approach. But the serial Ruq is going to look bad. Sigh. Rajat's Jalal just being the Shahenshah without these love woes is more tempting to watch...

Yes, my dear Joja. She loves him. But she is not in love with him, at least not as much as she is in love with herself.

I do not agree with the defence that if Ruqaiya did not reach out to Jalal in agony over his Khan baba's death, neither did Hamida. Yes ,Hamida did not do it, and that is why till very recently, she had no hold over Jalal at all. If you care for someone, you cannot ignore them when they are in great pain. And love is a much stronger emotion than caring.

I agree with eveything what you have said.
When Ruq too could have done anything save Jalal, then isnt it love?

My dear Joja,

Re: @red, do take a look at my marathon response above to Sandhya et al about Ruqaiya. Then we can discuss Jodha's kind of love, the chief feature of which would be that it does not seek power or any other material benefit in return from Jalal.

Yes, my sweet. Tomorrow. I was tied up for most of the day, and I sat down only after midnight to start responding from the end. I am now at page 20. It is 2:27 am, and I need to get to bed, not being as young as I was, and as you kids are.

Thank you, my dear Gayatri, and your para 1 is spot on. I felt exactly the same.

As for The Letter, Jodha is going to find out very soon, maybe during this aam aadmi/aurat trip, that he cannot read. Then the penny will drop for her, even if she does not know that Mahaam "read" it out to him. The question that remains is of how she can broach this very touchy topic with Jalal. Even given their present equation, it would be tough for her to bring it up. Besides, the CVs will not let Mahaam be exposed just now, or any time soon.

Ruqaiya- I loved the Smiley version and I root even for this one at times, though she grates on my nerves very often. But Gayatri, I cannot accept @blue. Hamida was held by Jalal at arm's length till very recently for just such failings, real and, at times, imagined by him. My point is that even if you merely care for someone, you cannot leave them in great pain and just walk away. And love is far stronger than caring.

Thanks, Aunty for a wonderfully worded post of a beautifully warm episode. Such an apt title you have given, Aunty. That warmth given out on a pleasant sunshine day, that was what we all felt, a benevolent warmth enveloping us all watching the parry between Jalal & Jodha while they took hesitant baby steps to their love story. Hope we get to see more such interestingly pleasurable episodes to savour, & hopefully you will give us many more of your insightful , poetical & of course subtly humorous 😉 take on them.

And yes, my POV on the letter issue of the Shove is that it should be resolved one way or the other in the near future, not to produce proof for the budding love or any such reason. But though Jalal might have decided to forget that event & forgive Jodha too maybe after her near death sacrifice to save him, it is still going to stay there at the back somewhere & crop its head up at inopportune times. Like for example, Jalal himself brought it up on the Friday epi albeit half jokingly. And also that event is one of the reasons stopping Jalal from expressing his love or expecting Jodha s love for himself is my view on it. Also why leave such a big MU unresolved which might give MA some more ammo for the future. So atleast Jodha should learn about the truth of Jalal s inability to read & MA s hand in it , so that she s on the alert of matters concerning MA from hereon ( hoping for a smarter Jodha 😛 ).

And regarding Ruq s love for Jalal, we can't compare her love with Jodha s love, it wouldn't be fair to her, I d say. And I wouldn't blame Jalal either for not returning her love. When has Love been made to order. He always considered Ruq as his best friend , & if his dormant heart didn't awaken for her but only for Jodha, then it s not Ruq s fault , but the blame is on the vagaries of love. If Ruq was never around to console him during BK s death or BB s betrayal , well then, Jalal s own Mom Hamida wasn't there either. What I mean to say is this is not exactly the criteria for judging the love quotient, atleast in this serial I d say 😛 . I can sure think up some amateur psycho stuff of why Ruq might never have been around at emotional times for Jalal too ( see what a strong sympathiser I am of poor Ruqs 😉 😆 ). That s my humble take on it.

AUNTY I m not from India ... Didn't go to fateh pur sikri ... Did whole place has only 3 palaces of jodha n all other people lived in big halls .???? As people on forum r saying .tht.. Although fateh pur sikri didn't build for jodha but she has her own three palaces there n his no other wife had such privlage... N jodha has also so many palaces out beside Agra n fateh pur sikri. N his no other wife has nothing ... I mean nothing ...Ruqayya salima had not their palace nor they have any of their own property ... Only jodha has every thing ...power rights property love ... So how can such a lady be angel who has so much influence on emperor n emperor keep taking concubines n keep marrying ...keep defeating jodha,s kins ... Conquering rajputana...
...

I hope Ruqayya had atleast her own single room... Kahin who bahir terrace pr na rethi ho...bec as par history masters here each n every things belongs to jodha ...

Sandhya, my dear, I am beginning to get quite worried about you. You are beginning to sound very fretful, and that is hardly good for you. And don't give me that guff about just joking. It is clearly beginning to get under your skin. .At this rate, you will end up with ulcers! Jodha Akbar is not worth it, my child!

Just chill, and enjoy the scenes with Rajat , and now Paridhi as well. I don't care if Jalal looks like a choodiwala or a doodhwala (I think the beard and the thicker moustache make his face look broader and chubbier), for he will still act superlatively, and we will have a succession of charming, domesticated scenes. It is time the poor boy gets away for a while from these screechy females in the harem, and has some corny fun. The precap was very cute - especially the way Jodha now looks sideways at her patidev, and the new montage is gorgeous.

I liked the earlier scene in Jodha's rooms, and Jalal's face when Jodha says that she needs to go as there has to be someone to look after him, was priceless. Pleased, amused and questioning. And when she was roping in Hamida to get Jalal to fall in line, he was again watching her very curiously with narrowed eyes, like a scientist looking at a specimen under the microscope.

Paridhi too was excellent in her recover when he asks her why she is so eager to go. And the wide-eyed candour with which she argues that she should be taken along was charming.

What I could not understand was Moti standing there like a log of wood and not moving away after greeting the Shahenshah. In the Jalal-Jodha exchange, she is there standing dead centre between them and a little further into the room, completely spoiling the visuals! The woman gets on my nerves with her flat, slightly nasal tone of voice, and very limited acting abilities.

She seems to be ignorant of court etiquette as well. When Jalal says he will take Jodha out to the garden, Moti actually says Theek hai, as if she was giving him permission to do so, instead of Jee, Shahenshah. I wonder if she would have said any such thing to Bharmal in Amer. It was ridiculous.

Similarly, when Ruqaiya tells her to inform Jodha later that she had come to visit her, Moti does not say Jee, Begum Sahiba, but merely nods her head. It is the writer's fault.

Incidentally, for those of you who might be interested, I learnt even at school that Akbar built Fatehpur Sikri to commemorate his victories in Rajasthan, where he conquered Chittore and Ranthambore in 1568. The Buland Darwaza was built so grandly to mark those victories, which consolidated Akbar's hold over Rajasthan, and also the successful campaign in Gujarat.

I have never heard or read that it had anything to do with Jodha, except for her palace there.

This is revisionist history with a vengeance! They seem to have added an extra disclaimer, though. But then, what is the daily 30 second disclamer for?

Fatehpur Sikri was not finished till the mid-1580s, and soon thereafter, the lack of water forced Akbar to move his court out of there.

I saw a complaint on another thread that the Diwan-e-Khas today did not look impressive, and that Jalal's apology did not sound as well as it should have. Probably they wanted him to go down on his knees for it! He looked and sounded very sincere and yet correct and restrained, and as for the apology, he did the same after the dature ka ark matter was solved. It was very good of him to have done it then, and it is the same now. As for the DEK, it is always of the same size and has roughly the same number of attendees.

Aunty 🤗

Ok I can see the discussions here are a bit on the downcast side, so lets see if I can rake up some positives 😆 Actually, I didn't find the episode bad at all and I'm quite looking forward to Jalal's Aam Aadmi party 😆 (Credit to Sandhya for this name!)

Though I am not too sure about the history of Fatehpur Sikri per se my mother and sister have visited the place some time ago, and they did mention the 'Jodha Bai Palace' with its evident Hindu symbolisms in Fatehpur Sikri...obviously, the timings of the monuments may vary...but, then I'm not too sure about it... so, I don't think its entirely fictional that some aspects in the place could have been built as an ode to Heer Kunwari...😊

JALAL
As for Jalal, he was superlative no doubt. In the DEK, his expressions were genial and his eyes spoke volumes. He was both, very charming and humble at this point when he expressed his regret for his actions lately. It was perfect - neither overdone nor too less! 😳
The time when he cast Jodha a proud glance (when speaking about Rajvanshis giving up their life for kartavya) and then a semi-tease when he spoke about the attack during his dargah trip were both different and endearing in their own ways...😛

What I didn't get was MA instigating Ruqaiyya right under the Shehenshah's nose - a bit much? Couldn't wait to even get to the harem..😕
that and then HB telling Salima later on that 'If Jalal took his three Begums along and went on this trip he'll be at peace'
I was ROFLinggg - like, REALLY? Aren't his current biggest headaches the battles between his three begums? 😆

Jalal and Atgah have all the makings of a plenty-of-affection but, very-less-action duo!😆

JALAL-JODHA
Jodha's instant change in expression from the moon conversation to one of a semi-blush when the sudden announcement of the Shehenshah's arrival was made - was spectacularly done by Paridhi. Needless to say, Jalal's 'am I hearing this right' semi-mischievous smile when Jodha said 'Someone needs to go along with you...to take care of you...' that turns into a 'Can't believe this' frown when Jodha used the aid of HB to get Jalal to listen to her was AMAZING!
You know this scene reminded me of the scene from Roja...when newly-married freshly-in-love Roja uses the help of her saasuma to get her to influence Arvind Swami take her to Kashmir!😛
Today's episode was transitional - there wasn't any anything MAJOR... but, without it the progression would have made no sense, either!

Dear, take it with a pinch of salt... I used to get worked up about it... not any more... Initially, I even got worked up when I thought they were distorting MA's name by getting her involved in the MC kaand...only later did I actually read that texts implied she might have had a hand in orchestrating something along those lines in the harem...
so, watch it all scepticism - if its true, well and good..if not, drama! When it gets too much to take.. take a break (like I did during the Benazir kand😆)

I still feel the Fatehpur Sikri angle is not as bad as the Tasneem fiasco or as the Benazir track...which downplayed Jalal quite a bit...😊

Also, remember Akbar was a great man because of a cumulative set of achievements that spanned across his life time... like many of the other National leaders and historical figures - he has committed many mistakes- but, he emerged from those to go on and achieve what many others couldn't ...thus, the prefix 'Great'...however, fact remains that he was no superman - he did have his vices, his favourites and his weaknesses too...also, it has been noted in many places that he did change in his later years - as when compared to the person he was in his twenties...

The basic crux of the fact remains that Akbar was no fanatic (though he came from a religiously rigid era) - he was a man ahead of his times and very broad minded - thankfully, the serial is not/has not played with that aspect of him yet...and hope that remains the case! 👏
