Well, Minnie my dear, I am sorry to let you down, but I do not manicure my fingers at all, but merely clip the nails neatly myself! That confession made, thanks a lot for your very kind words and I am delighted that you enjoyed this one so much.

But yes, in my salad days as a young diplomat, and even for about 15 years later, I used to like having my hand kissed by my Latin colleagues, friends and acquaintances - the French, the Italians and the Spanish - much better than having it crushed and pumped up and down by the Anglo-Saxons. There was a little trick to the way one extended one's hand to the gentleman, holding it not vertically, but horizontally, with the fingers slightly bent downwards. The man then had to bend and kiss it.

Unfortunately, this charming custom went out of fashion in the last decade of my career!

Kya... Kya...Kya... Yup! I turn the various shades of grey with lightening and thunder in background as I absorb the beauty of this post in sheer surprise.
Alright lemme e-kiss your pretty manicured fingers for penning down such beautiful words..

Right now, it looks like the latter. This is "behind every great man is a woman" with a vengeance. I am still hoping that Jalal will make some sort of recovery down the line. Let us see.

Dear Aunty,

Thanks a lot for your sincere concerns. 😊. I am volatile by nature. Boil easily and cool down at the same speed. The moment the TV or my system/mobile is off, I forget about it completely. But yes, it does get under my skin sometimes when I watch esp as like today when such a monument that was constructed in memory of Akbar's hard earned victory and reverence to the great Sufi saint credited to the heroine! 😕. I think by the end of the show I may be left with a severe dislike for poor Jodha! But you are right aunty, the show is not worth it.
Aunty, I have always admired Akbar as an Emperor in history and this heroine-giri at the expense of his character is a punishment to watch sometimes. I am trying my best to view this as a raja-rani saga. I am still appalled at why they have to do it. Create something so beautiful, have all the ingredients to make it extra special and then spoil it every now and then! What was the need today for the Fatehpur Sikri announcement. Atleast Mirza came in handy in carrying the story forward. And Ruqaiya - they have made her a bipolar disorder patient.
And yes, the new montage is really gorgeous.😳. Straight out of a fairy tale. 😳 Am looking forward to the outing too. A change in setting and some light playfulness. I had expected better look for Rajat though 😕. Hope they don't rush it through! (There is not much story left after all - only AK, MAham and Shariff angle remains if this jiyaza issue is resolved and he is given the title - Akbar)
And as for Akbar's apology being insufficient, is it forgotten that aaradhya devi has also not apologised yet for mohan. There is a story about Archimedes going to market everyday and not buying anything. When asked he replied that he is always amused at the innumerable things he doesn't want. We can always amuse us that way when we come across such opinions.

Sandhya, my dear, I am beginning to get quite worried about you. You are beginning to sound very fretful, and that is hardly good for you. And don't give me that guff about just joking. It is clearly beginning to get under your skin. .At this rate, you will end up with ulcers! Jodha Akbar is not worth it, my child!

Just chill, and enjoy the scenes with Rajat , and now Paridhi as well. I don't care if Jalal looks like a choodiwala or a doodhwala (I think the beard and the thicker moustache make his face look broader and chubbier), for he will still act superlatively, and we will have a succession of charming, domesticated scenes. It is time the poor boy gets away for a while from these screechy females in the harem, and has some corny fun. The precap was very cute - especially the way Jodha now looks sideways at her patidev, and the new montage is gorgeous.

I liked the earlier scene in Jodha's rooms, and Jalal's face when Jodha says that she needs to go as there has to be someone to look after him, was priceless. Pleased, amused and questioning. And when she was roping in Hamida to get Jalal to fall in line, he was again watching her very curiously with narrowed eyes, like a scientist looking at a specimen under the microscope.

Paridhi too was excellent in her recover when he asks her why she is so eager to go. And the wide-eyed candour with which she argues that she should be taken along was charming.

What I could not understand was Moti standing there like a log of wood and not moving away after greeting the Shahenshah. In the Jalal-Jodha exchange, she is there standing dead centre between them and a little further into the room, completely spoiling the visuals! The woman gets on my nerves with her flat, slightly nasal tone of voice, and very limited acting abilities.

She seems to be ignorant of court etiquette as well. When Jalal says he will take Jodha out to the garden, Moti actually says Theek hai, as if she was giving him permission to do so, instead of Jee, Shahenshah. I wonder if she would have said any such thing to Bharmal in Amer. It was ridiculous.

Similarly, when Ruqaiya tells her to inform Jodha later that she had come to visit her, Moti does not say Jee, Begum Sahiba, but merely nods her head. It is the writer's fault.

Incidentally, for those of you who might be interested, I learnt even at school that Akbar built Fatehpur Sikri to commemorate his victories in Rajasthan, where he conquered Chittore and Ranthambore in 1568. The Buland Darwaza was built so grandly to mark those victories, which consolidated Akbar's hold over Rajasthan, and also the successful campaign in Gujarat.

I have never heard or read that it had anything to do with Jodha, except for her palace there.

This is revisionist history with a vengeance! They seem to have added an extra disclaimer, though. But then, what is the daily 30 second disclamer for?

Fatehpur Sikri was not finished till the mid-1580s, and soon thereafter, the lack of water forced Akbar to move his court out of there.

I saw a complaint on another thread that the Diwan-e-Khas today did not look impressive, and that Jalal's apology did not sound as well as it should have. Probably they wanted him to go down on his knees for it! He looked and sounded very sincere and yet correct and restrained, and as for the apology, he did the same after the dature ka ark matter was solved. It was very good of him to have done it then, and it is the same now. As for the DEK, it is always of the same size and has roughly the same number of attendees.

Shyamala Aunty

Even I saw the thread about not liking DEK.

Now I have started limiting to a few threads because everyone has their own opinion and reading everything I et upset sometimes.

I felt DEK was pretty good. I did watch that scene a few times and I never felt he was not apologetic.

He is an emperor and he did apologise in front of everyone. And what he said was true, he cant gift her something because the sacrifice what she had done was very great and nothing can be compared to her life.

He was wanted to build the city as a good gesture and people will speak about her sacrifice till the city remains.

As you have mentioned Aunty, I too loved Jalal's expressions when Jodha was complaining to HB.

I also looked his concern for her. He says he will never forgive himself if anything happens to her health... so caring! I also liked when Jodha says if no one is going with you, then its necessary that I have to come with you as there is no one to take care of you. Jalal was so touched bu it. I guess this is the quality which he loves in Jodha... caring

Aunty, just think of previous Jodha, if she had to go alone as due to some reason Salima and Ruq couldn't join them. She would have thought for sure its his tricks.

And the new montage , oh yeah its very gorgeous.

And regarding Precap..

Did you notice, I think after Jalal's feeds Jodha, she takes his hand and washes it and the pot will be empty.

He takes another pot with water, and he washes her hand... Hope I don't faint seeing by the end of this journey.

shyamala, i too am feeling what sandhya is feeling, especially after watching today's episode!..i was recovering from ben's torture by last week's wonderful episodes and now this..like sandhya said its heading towards tasneem3..!..and u r also rt in saying that we should not get ulcers by just watching a show there r other genuine problems in life to deal with..phew!

and yes my opinion about our dear moti is no different than yours..she needs to learn how to act first!

and as far as that thread is concerned i have yet to see anything good written about our jalal..its nothing but filth against him..therefore, their comments hold no importance for me..and i think its not easy for a shahenshah to accept that he was wrong and apologize on top of that in front of everyone..and only akbar can do that, if it was any other mughal emperor..forget it!..my son was making fun of ghinghiz khan one day by saying that he actually made sure that everyone who attends his funeral gets killed..do not know why..maybe most of them were his enemies...he was extremely ruthless..now compare that to akbar whose any humble act is fake as per some

I too feel the same about Moti.

And Aunty, i exactly thought what you quoted about Friday's episode. when Jalal says he will take Jodha out, Moti says theek hai so casually ... He didnt ask for you permission lady. Remember he is the emperor.

Mandy, yes being Shahenshah, asking sorry in front of everyone in itself is humble.

I dont like to give all credit to Jodha always. Akbar was very brilliant emperor, and i want that to be shown here too instead of showing Jodha ki Jai. I am a big fan of Akbar because of Rajat. If i had watched this serial duing my school, i would have liked history more and would have scored more marks 😉

But right now the episodes are going good, so lets Njoy

That is a very subtle and unusual compliment. Thank you; I am duly flattered. All the more so as my posts are an acquired taste, and need not appeal to everyone.

I agree, that post of mine about Ruqaiya meandered a good bit.The core issue for me is that I do not like an intelligent (as she was) and sophisticated woman turn into this foolish and yet pathetically vulnerable avatar. I do not see her as merely a spoilt. tantrum throwing banshee. She has fits of warmth, generosity and ethics - I had listed several of them - but they disappear all too soon. But if you see her that way, Ekta's CVs must be patting themselves on the back, for this is clearly what they wanted.

Yes, wives should be able to be unreasonable and demanding and childish (as distinct from childlike) with their husbands from time to time. But not if they do not acknowledge the man as a husband in anything but using the title that comes with being his wife. If that is what she does - and Jodha did precisely that till recently - it stands to reason that she cannot claim the charming privilege of driving him up the wall with her feminine caprices. That too in public.

Now, it is as if she has turned on a dime, but that was the Benazir effect! Paridhi must be delighted, for she gets so much more scope now to display her acting chops. She was wonderful on Friday, and delightful today as well, with that wide-eyed candour when she is lobbying Jalal, first directly and then thru Hamida,to be taken to Sikri. Rajat and she were playing off each other splendidly today as well.

You are pulling my leg with @blue, Minnie, but I can laugh at myself! As for Lashy, she loves me and I love her.

Just finished reading your post and your not so to the point answer to Sandhya on Ruq as enigma. Frankly, Ruq does not appear like an enigma at all! She appears like a tantrum throwing kid. I started watching Jodha Akbar when Lavina was Ruq so I have missed smiley and her portrayal.

I had so much to say, but I'd rather read you than write anything ... It's a better utilization of time. Now I kinda understand why Lashy was being so Un-Lashylike' Yay...aunty is not leaving' At that time I tsk..tsked her.
I really love the idiosyncracies in women...and unlike you I was all for Jo throwing silly tantrums in front of Jalal ot so long ago. Somehow, a woman can behave weirdly only with her hubby. She was believable , normal and adorable for me then. And now that she's done a U-turn, and is all starry id for her Shehenshah, i still find her believable.
Emotions are so complex and it takes a Shyamala to decode. I don't even attempt. I just go with the flow and enjoy some well written posts.
Oh and I saw that article on you...You are a ⭐️ .
