mumtaz was never married to any one else other than shahjahan

jahangir had killed noorjahan s husband because then marrying a divorcee was not acceptable

shahjahan was not allowed to marry mumtaz initialy because then marriages were meant for political alliances and mumtaz was not a princess he was initally married to a persian princes

she died during her 14 th delivery

initally noorjahan had tried marrying her daughter to shahjahan but never suceeded

Apart from 2nd point(which i am not sure of) the others are correct actually.

I think Mumtaz sister was a widower or divorce so he married her(though i am not sure its true)

He had 2 more daughters from his first two wives whom he completely ignored

But even more intersting rather shocking is he killed around 50-100 male relatives before coming on throne. They included his brother khusrau, parvez(non confirmed), shariyar, jahandar and all his brother's sons, jehangir's brothers murad and daniyal's sons and grandsons who were staying with jehangir in lahore fort just before ascending throne. Very few escaped the blood bath actually and still went as destitute to far off lands to save lives. That is major reason shah jahan could not find husband's for jahanara and roshanara because mughals only married in relatives to stop fight for throne. So when all male relativess were killed he could not find any groom for his daughters.

Asaf Khan, Nur Jahan's brother and Mumutaz father carried out these killings on directions of Shah Jahan. You never know even Jehangir died in mystrious circumstances(although he was alchohol addiction from age of 18 and asthama patient from even younger days) but history says he died of heart attack because his servant fell off cliff while collecting animals for target during tiger hunt. With Mughals(and British and other royals too) you can never know who killed whom and how and when? Its all a big mystery because history is written by winners and losers are dead and gone long back to verify?????
