Today I loved to be wrong.😃 There was no woofing from Jalal. He was what he is best at. 👏
Tender beautiful romance after a long time. Got back the feel of the fencing, aarti...where they were both at ease and tease. How many MUs between then and now!...Phew! Even at Amer Jodha's responses were khatak-ing. But today it was so soft and subtle.
I loved the 4 kyunkis before saying 'aapke dil mein hamareliye jagah hai'. And the haemin dasne ki tab sirf ek rajvanshi begum mein hai. And the smile that followed it and the clothes reason for disliking ben...well every bit of the scene, the expressions, glances, the words, the softness, the tease...it was a treat. The garden scene -the best part of that was 'You seem to have fallen in love with Benazir'
I think the letter, shove and all past mus have been put behind. The shove was mentioned in a lighter note only as if to indicate that its memories still hold him back not hurt him. It need not be cleared as an absolute necessity. Somethings are better understood than explained. One fine example was his simple statement yesterday that it is better to forget bygones. Jodha just needs to de-vachan him after all her zubaan-vachan insintences and ratri-vyatit dramas.
I am hoping that the Ruqaiya angle is handled delicately and decently as to uplift all the three characters. I really hope that in the end Ruqu should accept that Jalal's happiness is with Jodha. It all depends on Jalal's handling. If Ruqaiya is turned too negative or Jalal insensitive, it will be a blotch to the way their relationship has been portrayed so far and leave a disataste.
I thought that Pari was very pretty in the final scene with MS and MH more than at the garden and her smile and calmness in her eyes was so soothing. Rajat was charming as usual throughout. This guy can fight, ride, cry, roar, feel and romance so well!
But the joke today was when jalal tried to sound angry in DEK! He was angry that Abul Mali was not caught. Pakad kar bhi karenge kya? they'll put him in that useless prison. He'll escape again.😆.
And he wanted kadi nazar of Maharana Pratap.🤣 when his nikamme jasoos couldn't keep one on Benazir or Abul right under their noses.
(But I thought I spotted MH and MS in the last row of DEK when Abul Mali and MP were discussed and when the announcement of their arrival was made and the Suban.Allah was pronounced by all. So much shortage of actors or is it cost-cutting ? )
Today when Shariffu was discussing with his Jasoos soldier so many other guards were present. Are they all Shariffu's men? If so they could have easily opened the doors for him to disappear. If not won't they report the conversation?
PS: But aunty, a few superbly made scenes and fantastic performances by Rajat and a couple of gentle romantic scenes, we all seem to have forgotten our main complaint since December...the dumbing down of Jalal which glaringly remains un-corrected.😕😭

Sandhya dear, the Jalal-Jodha scenes last night were like watching sunlight dancing on rippling water, or the iridiscent colours on a butterfly's wings.

It is very hard to capture that in mere words. I plan to try, however, and if I am satisfied with the result, I will put it out tonight or tomorrow morning. Only about those scenes; it would be pointless to clutter it up with the rest - the DEK scene or the congregation in Jodha's rooms or the Mahaam-Ruqaiya encounter.

No, Meghana, I meant it seriously.

See, I am not given to romantic nonsense, as exemplified by the RK Films logo scene - with the girl bent over backwards on the man's arm (we had one of those here too, when Jodha slipped on the mud in the garden) or a girl teetering on a shaky stool and falling into the gallant man's arms (I often wish she would knock him flat in the process!). All of them identify romance with close physical contact alone, which I feel is demeaning. That sort of thing has its importance too, but it can hardly be the sole catalyst for love!

What I liked about the promo was that it was calm and dignified. Jalal handled Jodha like a Dresden porcelain figurine, and she reacted with gentle, pleased surprise and acceptance of the little gestures of caring. It was such a change from the carping and taanas that are all we have been able to see so far between them, or the heavy breathing stuff in his fantasy before The Shove. I do not like too much of the latter, I am too old fashioned for that. But this was delicate and warm and it pleased me a lot.

You are being a darling here Shyamala, just too cute in describing your preferences. We women can connect so well with each other when it comes to romance. I am little old fashioned as well and that pyaar hua ikraar hua is NOT my kind of romance. But what was shown today was a kind of romance that I have never seen or heard or read. It was either PS/RT going above and beyond the script or the CVs had a Eureka moment!

Moreover,he is correct and protective, but not loverlike, even as he wraps the shawl round her. That too is as it should be. At some point, Jodha will have to do the running. That is why I loved her obsession with what all the Shahenshah had done during her illness, and how she exults secretly when told that he never moved from her side the whole time. Ah, the vanity of womankind!

The Kanha aarti scene last night which was, for me, the stand out as far as Rajat's acting was concerned. It really showcased his mastery over facial nuance. Jalal is not one to beat around the bush, and he wants to get the I will never enter this hoojra matter over and done with. But he does not know where to start and how to proceed, so he uses the aarti as an icebreaker. I am surprised that many here have not understood this simple point. He wants a peg on which to hang his retraction of what he had said then, and this is ready at hand. One can see that in his face as soon as he spot the aarti thali.

The bit about the kaada and that it should be covered was also very cute, as was his expression and the tone of voice in which he says Achcha, tab theek hai when Moti informs him that the vaid has said it should be kept open. It was a minor tour de force, the throwaway line masking unsureness.
. Rajat pulled that off to perfection. And in the very last shot, his quizzical expression when Jodha asks him what he wants to talk to her about, was also very interesting.

Simply superb description on RT's excellent acting skills, couldn't agree more with you on it!

These things are far harder to do than Amitabh Bachchan style grand perorations, like the speech to the awaam, though I am sure that would have got the maximum applause across the forum.

I read your post on this episode last night, but it was too late already, so I did not comment on it. I will be doing so today. I loved the open happiness it reflects

I am glad you liked this one, and even more so that you noted the tennis match analogy. No one else did! And yes, that line of mine was echoed in what Jalal said yesterday. Curious!

The tennis match analogy was the best part for me, so creative and suited well for that scene. It was good to see Jalal win that match and I hope he wins many more. Oops I am biased towards Jalal no matter how likeable Jodha has become.

I think most women on this Forum are absolutely biased towards Jalal! 🤣

What is difficult for me to figure out is that is it for JALAL , or Rajat. Or a greedy combination of both. 😉

For me it is mainly the character..not saying RT is not good. But the thing that attracts me the most is Jalal - complicated, TEDA yet such a seedha guy!😉

You are forgetting the Bhajan Mandali.

Of course both. Can you imagine any one else play the role? None of the various shades and layers and nuances of the character would even be felt and we would never had the absolute liking that we have now. I wouldn't have watched JA at all.
Some characters give tremendous scope for the actor to dazzle and some actors raise the characters to levels that exceed expectations. Here it is both.
