it is not a proven fact infact it is also not documented...infact akbar has gone on record stating that he regreted marrying within his own family...i dont remember the exact words..you should ask history-geek...that is why he banned marrying of first cousins or smthing like that...ruku was his best friend but no where was she the most special to him,infact salima was closr to akbar than ruqaiyya...and jodha was the closest to him.

no he had said that i wish i had not gotten married within my family...his words were twisted...if u read akbarnama it clearly states that he had banned first cousin marriages,now why would he do that if ruku was his beloved begum,yes she held a special place but that was more bcoz she was his childhood friend and also she was a mughal princess so she commanded respect...

The popularity of Jodha bai/Harka bai says all. Even when I was in school I heard only one name attached to Akbar & that's Jodha. I never heard Ruq's name till the show comes. Earlier I thought there was only one queen of Akbar & she was a rajpute. Why is there special mention of her when she was not his fav?
