Well, well, well, even in my advanced years, I would of course prefer to have two men fighting for my affections, but lacking that, you two will do!!๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ I expect that the next time I come around, this thread would rival Hanuman's tail!

Also, with the recent tracks, I don't even know what to add in long replies anymore...
But I do reply to every post Aunty...
And we were busy doing masti mazaak in the last one too...๐Ÿ˜›
I do like your posts too Not fair being so partial to Trips๐Ÿ˜ก

Well, young Lashy, I have spoilt you rotten, so much so that you forget even to mark my threads with a Like! Now that is a joke, so don't make me explain that as I had to do with Sandhya. ๐Ÿ˜‰

As for your lighting up my life too, I can always do with an extra CFL bulb (NOT a tubelight like Jodha Begum, my girls are all very quick on the uptake!), except that you are nowadays hardly to be seen, whereas Tripti is an omnipresent. chirpy little chipmunk!

But I love you too, Lashykanna, lots!!

And then you should remember the maxim of the celebrated Beau Brummel, whose word was law on all matters concerning social behaviour among the aristocracy in Regency England, in the early 19th century: Never apologise and never explain!

Shyamala Aunty

@red: Of course๐Ÿ˜ƒ
On a lighter note, I'd rather be bloodthirsty and have twf-tej and pf-shivaani executed than you leave the forum on account of Jalal's saintliness.๐Ÿ˜† I'll join Komal and Tripti and numerous others in the hunger strike if you do๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜‰

You always were a difficult child. I remember you complaining vociferously and incorrectly that I had not commented on one of your threads whereas I had. When this was proved to you, you backed off!!
Yes I do I do...and I see you'll never let me forget that ๐Ÿ˜†

Incidentally, do drop me a PM when you put out a post. I visit the forum only infrequently, and I would not like to miss one of yours. And what is this story? If is not too soppy or R rated, I would love to read it.
Ok...will do...though my swoony ode-to-Akdha posts might not be to your tastes ๐Ÿ˜†
Shyamala Aunty

And That is also the reason, I have not advertised my story here to you Aunty ๐Ÿ˜†
But, I have written a One shot post the Benazir track...it's obviously on the 'hotter' side as one might precariously classify it...but, not totally devoid of logic...at least, I hope! ๐Ÿ˜†
Ill pm you the link...

Shweta my dear, you gladdened my heart with this one. The part @blue proves that you are an original, and that is what I like above all.

Actually, Jalal did not, in terms of characterisation, snatch away anything from anyone. In fact he looked for the most part like a Diwali rocket that has failed to ignite. Can you imagine any absolute monarch reacting so passively to such an enormous insult? It was surreal, his silence and the mildness of even his reproaches. But then I no longer expect anything realistic from this show, and I was glad to be spared the kind of ranting we saw during the dature ka ark track. That does not mean I liked the way he reacted.

The reason for this outpouring of relief is that he has been so much like a cork bobbing in the water for so long that any slight improvement seems very impressive. But it is not, really, and then again, I am not at all sure it is going to last.

Jalal is used to great betrayals and attempts on his life by those closest to him, and yet he has abandoned lucid wariness when it comes to Jodha. Why? What has she done for him that he should do this?

How, as both I yesterday and Pallavi today, have pointed out, is he sure that Jodha did not know of the love affair at all, though she clearly knew nothing about the elopement plan? I need to rewatch Mahaam having the adieu letter to Jodha from Shivani read out, but I am pretty sure that the reference there was only to the elopement decision. That need not automatically also mean that she knew nothing of this liaison too. See, Jalal is now convinced that Bharmal did know of it, and thus jumped at the chance to make a bakra of Mirza. Why then does he exculpate Jodha a priori?

It is because she has become his abiding weakness. That is what I meant when I said that "an anaemic, oscillating relationship, that seems to anchored in the man's weakness, not his strength, and the woman's blindness, does not seem, at least to me, to be the stuff of epic romance".

Somehow, the very idea of a great and all consuming love between these two seems less and less convincing.

Finally, @red is very funny. Mynavati was there at the small family conclave where Hamida was gushing about the marriage, and telling Bharmal that as the daughter was his, it would be for him to decide. I could not believe my ears; she said that with her son the Shahenshah sitting there!

Shyamala Aunty

PS: I have been wanting to respond to your point on my last thread that parents should not be blamed for the bad behaviour of their adolescent children, and I might as well do it here.

That might be true today, though even now the parents of young drug addicts are blamed by counsellors for not having spotted the symptoms early on. Are parents not routinely blamed for not having been sufficiently in touch with their anti-social children?

In the 16th century, girls, and princesses even more so, were brought up very strictly, for if they did something wrong, the shame for their family, and the negative social fallout, would be far worse than it would be today. So it was held to be the duty of the parents of the girls, especially their mothers, to make sure that they behaved with the utmost propriety. Any misbehaviour by a daughter would reflect very badly on her parents, and her mother would be blamed, and rightly so. When I was an Ambassador, if any of my junior officials performed badly, the blame for that would be mine. It is the same thing here.

Given all this, how on earth was Shivani. in a purdah culture, allowed to meet and coochie coo with a kaarigar? How is it that Mynavati had no idea of all this? Both Jodha and Sukanya having been married off, there was only Shivani for her to look out for, and she failed miserably in fulfilling this responsiblity. That Shivani has now dragged the good name of the Amer royal family thru the mud is thus in good part Mynavati's fault. And I am sure Bharmal will blame her squarely for it.

Loved it Aunty, especially the last para ๐Ÿ˜‰. It is a golden rule of Indian Cinema/Television that one has to go bonkers when in love. Two sensible individuals can never fall in love and they do by chance then that is not called epic love! I don't understand why love has to be blind? it can be wise also!

So Jalal's grey cells finally activated a bit. But was it the after effect of all the bashing Zee got from callers or Ekta and team genuinely felt the need the wake up our sleeping beauty? Though he used his brains today I will not say that the old Jalal is back as he still cant sense the danger lurking around every bend when it comes to Benazir and Abul Mali. Despite of the warnings from Hakim and Jodha he is still in Jaise The condition and I really hope he proves me wrong that his announcement of the wedding with Benazir is not just to rile up Jodha.

And like Mrityunjay, even the RangRasiya lead makes very much sense and is far away from those serial male leads and victims of heroine-giri whose footsteps Jalal is following.

Though Jalal and Jodha snatched the show from Ruqu and Maham today, I loved these two ladies more than the leads. Maham was just unfortunate today not to realise that Jalal can sense Jodha's innocence from that last letter of Shivani if he thinks wisely. This lady surely is cunning and thats why Jalal never doubts her despite of all the kaands she has done. Even if Shivani returns and confesses everything to save her skin, nobody will believe that Maham instigated her.

On the other hand Ruqaiya was bang on and I loved that Shikari and Hirani metaphor but she missed some simple points in her agony by bringing back the narnaal incident. If Jalal ever sensed that Jodha tried to kill him and she deliberately removed the gun-powder he would never have pampered her like he did in Amer, and trying to instigate him against Jodha by using this trick will lower Ruqu in eyes of Jalal. But she is the one who can show him mirror and I will always feel bad for her as at the end of this so called epic love story she will turn into a vamp due to her love-cum-possessiveness for Jalal.

Again nothing is new in this blame Amer Family track as we know when CVs are running out of ideas try the repeated formulas and this is again a merry-go-round of MC track only difference is the Khauf-E-Jalal(๐Ÿ˜†) and 'Zinda Jala Denge' thing as he is clearly siding Jodha this time.

And you are right except Sukanya no one from Amerians was really worried about the missing bride and queen! Is Mainavati already off to consult Shaguni Bai ? or Shaguni herself warned her in advance not to attend the wedding as her daughter is all set to become a runaway bride ๐Ÿ˜›

There is something in that, come to think of it, and I agree that most men are idiots (bar my Sasha, of course!). Fine, I will just keep you both.๐Ÿ˜‰ We do not want any men!

Thanks a lot, my dear Pallavi.

I quite agree, and that was the point I had made repeatedly on my previous thread yesterday, both for Jodha and the Ameris. The two things -their not having colluded in the elopement, which is a given for all of them, for they would hardly invite such disgrace on themselves, and having known of the affair and sought to nip it in the bud by getting her married to the first bakra who offered himself - are clearly not mutually exclusive.

I need to rewatch Mahaam having the adieu letter to Jodha from Shivani read out, but I am pretty sure that the reference there was only to the elopement decision. That need not automatically also mean that she knew nothing of this liaison too.We are both of the same mind on this.

See, Jalal is now convinced that Bharmal did know of it, and thus jumped at the chance to make a bakra of Mirza. Why then does he exculpate Jodha a priori?

aunty such a nice post, I always wait for some response from you,on the episodes, but aunty one thing i'm nt getting is why jalal didn't suspect that jo might knew shivani's truth, and being a rajwanshi she wouldn't allow such things that can cause humiliation to her family, hence she also tried to marry her sis off ASAP when he is suspecting bharmal for the same reason..
the letter proves that she didn't know about the elopement but not the affair.

Great post Aunty! I was among the ones who thought he believes in Jodha because he trusts her rather than using the logic you pointed out. I did not realise the significance of that dialogue. It is redeeming.

Yes Aunty , yesterday's episode was a glimmer of hope. Jalal's grey cells have come out of their apoplexy (for how long only time will tell) . They were not completely dead as we were fearing (sigh of relief ).But the vishkanya does manage to knock life out of them. ๐Ÿ˜‰ And good to see the omnipresent Maham ( I seriously doubt she has more body doubles ) falling short of her plans so quickly . Thank God they did not stretch the anti -Jodha drama for long this time .

This is for all those who felt that the Emperor yesterday was mild and gentle hence pheeka.

If all have noticed that TE has been evolving as a ruler since the miscarrige days of 'Zinda jala doonga'. Since then he has had his bouts but if all notice in the Amer Ratangarh kila kissa, fake pregnancy and Tasneem he was more cool than blowing hot!!! In my eyes TE is showing a lot of maturity in handling the current situation with a cool head - very sophisticated I must say - and this is making him take mammoth proportions!!! And RT has presented TE so well that he has become magnified in persona!!!

Also and Shyamala will second me on this, when anyone deals with such situations in a calm and gentle manner all shd automatically become on high alert - a calm mind means a balanced mind that can cut thru all the crap and garbage, which is the best for justice and decision making. In fact the calmer TE becomes the warier all shd get!!!

I agree that we dont want a spineless Jalal - I have also been crying out loud over how the one character that made JA unique - our very own Tedha Emperor - was being butchered mercilessly. But I liked the Jalal that I saw yesterday - Mature yet young, Calm yet decisive, Analytical yet perceptive, Left brain and Right brain in balance!!!
