Well, normally I do not bother to claim copyrights, but I cannot give up the one to Tejwant the teakwook face and Shivani the pudding face (as distinct from Bharmal, who is a suet pudding, an even duller variety) !😉 I was very pleased with these epithets, and Sandhya's using them is a real compliment!

If @red doesn't happen or if the Ameris don't hunt down the selfish truants and kill them and prove their loyalty to the Shahenshah, or bring them on their knees to the Emperor to be mercilessly punished, the show will become intolerable to watch; I can't watch an Emperor who plays with justice. He had punished AK for questioning his nikaah with Ruqaiya and wanting to marry Tasnim. But it is nothing compared to what this teakwood-face and pudding-face have done. If Jalal swallows this incident and show 'mercy' which would be nothing but gross injustice, I'll hate to watch him any further.😡

superb what a description🤣

Oh. I don't know what to say to this because to be frank, it is thoroughly un-expected.

So I'll just say - A humble thank you , Sasha aunty. 😳

I have, Mandy.Thank you.

I took to Viraf Patel at once after watching Kismat, where he had the advantages of a very well etched character, an excellent get up, a very capable director and good costars, and he shone. Here, he has a nonsensical, chaotic, substandard script, next to no lines till recently, no good clothes, a mediocre director, and some bizarre and some dull co stars, and yet he shines. I watch it only for him, and of late for the chemistry between him and his costar.

The boy is tall, has screen presence, eloquent eyes, and the ability to project a smouldering, dark, edgy screen personality. He will do very well if he gets a good break in films, but he is not for the current kind of TV at all. If Powder and Kismat had had good TRPs and Yashraj TV had not shut up shop, he would have been for their TV ventures what Shahrukh has been for so long for their films.

I am sure Ek Boond Ishq has poor TRPs, which is understandable, for apart from Mrityunjay and now Tara, the rest is bizarre and unpalatable. But even the superb Powder and the excellent Kismat never crossed 1.5. What does that say about the TV audience?

Ekta knows them inside out, which is why we are getting what we are getting in Jodha Akbar.

This said, Jalal does trust Jodha far more than she trusts him. He says so after the false pregnancy affair, adding that he does not know why he does so. But she is so lacking in perception that she does not grasp the significance of what he says then.
It was both noteworthy and pleasing that Jalal handled the matter throughout with remarkable dignity and calmness, at one point almost excessively so.

I was wondering how Jodha would have reacted, if she would have placed such trust in Jalal if Mirza Haakim had quit in the 11th hour with Shivaani waiting at the mandap.

Ruqaiya: I felt sorry for Ruqaiya, conned so expertly into pulling Mahaam's chestnuts out of the fire for her. She was too shrill and sharp, but everything she said was spot on, and Jalal knew it, whence his angry outbursts.

Besides, she is the only one who really cares for the prestige and power of the Shahenshah and the Mughal sultanate, partly of course because her own prestige and power are linked to that, but also because that kind of total identification is bred into her bones.

I am always disappointed that it is said that Ruqaiya sees the Shahenshah and not the man. How is it possible to compartmentalise the person into different parts of what he is? Can we divide our father into a businessman, breadwinner of the family, mother's husband and our father? If he is cheated in business by, say a partner, how can we deal only with his sorrow as a person and not talk of anything else? What is important is that you give the solid support in times of necessity and Ruqaiya has always done it with elan.

As you rightly pointed out aunty, it is Jalal who has distanced from the word mohabbat and Ruqaiya has followed. I'll never forgive Jalal if he sidelines this girl for the sake of Jodha

And an anaemic, oscillating relationship, that seems to anchored in the man's weakness, not his strength, and the woman's blindness, does not seem, at least to me, to be the stuff of epic romance.

Amen. This is the best summary of the Jodha-Jalal relation as it stands now and this is what puts me off. You have worded it beautifully aunty, where I was struggling to put in words what I felt. This love stems from Jalal's weakness and not his strength. It is weakening him and not doing him any good. That is why I called it a disease in my first reply. And Jodha, the lesser said the better.

This will very likely sound sacrilegious to the 98% here who are now in ecstasies over The Look

Nothing between them exites me any longer. Their relation is parasitic - a giver who understands and feels everything and a taker who is blinkered and thinks is self-perfect. Only when the relation becomes symbiotic, anything between them will be exciting.
As of now I am only hoping that Jalal is not so weakened as to compromise on Justice.
I really hope that the director replaces Rajat. I can then quit the show happily.😭😭

I agree with you, and I really do not know what to expect now, Ash.

I only hope Jalal does not cave in as I had predicted in this post. HB reacted very harshly during the false pregnancy affair, and she might do the same now, as it is a direct insult to the Mughal sultanate. Let us see.

Yes, the Mrityunjay-Tara love story is infinitely touching - such a very disparate couple, the man like a bird with a broken wing, crippled internally, and the girl so unwaveringly strong and cheerful and supportive and loving and healing. It is beautiful. I loved the scene yesterday when she gives up on her mother because she will not accept her husband. It is all done with no melodrama, which is what is so appealing. Jodha will never be a Tara. But after Viraf leaves, it will not be the same, alas!

Shyamala, even though Jalal's grey cells worked, but as you said, it is not for long, nor his anger will last long. I so wish that he stays firm on his ground to punish Shivani and that Kaarigar (who is good for nothing) and do not hear pleas from Jodha or HB (I am sure, when it comes to Jo and her clan, even HB goes blind), they really need to be punished for insulting the sultanate and also for hurting Mirza. I will be surprised if it happens, and Jodha trying to explain Jalal?? what does she expect, after her elopment, that she should be forgiven? for all "masoom" her sister is!

And even I watch Ek Boond Ishq at times, and their affection and care towards each other is beyond other emotions, when it comes to each other, their priorities are only each other. I don't say that it has to be the same all the time, but other person cares for you, we need to reciprocate with same care and respect, definitely not like "Jodha", as for her "Amer" comes first.

superb what a description🤣

Oh yes aunty, I couldn't resist churao-fying these apt descriptions of the runaway duo from your post. Though kangiman and donkey kaarigar (of course it was a hiran as you pointed out, but he IS an ass expecting Shivaani to talk about them to her parents and running away with the bride-to-be of the Shahenshah's brother) suits Tej better, I couldn't find similar terms for Shivaani.😉
Btw aunty, neengalum Tamil-a? Romba Sandosham. 😃😃😃
...from Pudukkottai?...my hometown is just at an hour's distance from yours then.😃😃😃

My dear,

I am not so bloodthirsty as young Sandhya - who would have been the despair of Gandhiji, with her predilecion for bashing all those who get her goat!😉 - and in any case I do not think an 8 pm show can have runaway lovers executed!

So I feel that yours at blue would be the perfect solution all round. Congratulations on a very neat piece of scriptwriting!

I agree completely about Jalal. He looked like one of those Deepavali rockets that has failed to ignite, and in The Look, he looked as if he was going to melt like an icecream left out in the sun.

Is it just me or was Jalal's reaction a little too toned down. We all know he has become much weaker since MC fiasco, but I thought an incident like this would push him over the edge. I am glad he believed Jodha, not for Jodha sake but for his own shows that the writers are willing to spare him some sense. But his anger just didn't tear across the screen, he was much more masterful during the end of Amer track. Lets see how he handles Bharmal and how he projects his emotions. I think we have all applauded Rajat for going beyond the script by bringing varied nuances to his performances in the way of his emotions thus adding impact to dialogues in the hands of a lesser actor would fall flat, maybe it is his illness that has weakened him or is he intentionally projecting this newer version of Jalal more toned down. Whatever might be the reason I sorely miss the old one he didn't necessarily have to be angry, even during his marriage fix up discussion with Bharmal there was that spark in his eyes that devilishness cum with that calculative look it spoke volumes, game set match.

And like all of us in this thread have predicted he will pardon Shivani it is coming guys so don't hope otherwise. I don't know who Jodha is pleading for but as Shyamala aunty states for Jodha Amer will always come first, oh she will spare a thought for her Mughal family now and then but not enough to ever place justice or shehenshah beyond her fickle mindedness. And for Jalal his obsession is Jodha he too will place her above Justice. Some royal couple these two are, I am sure in real life if Akbar and his chief begums were like this his empire wouldn't have lasted as long as it did or flourished. Credibility is everything that makes the characters relatable, show tolerable, story watchable, discussion bearable, all the ables you can think of.

This is how this track should end for me to be reasonable satisfied. Jalal has a fiery discussion with Bharmal, he doesn't believe Bharmal entirely but Bharmal offers his forces and Jalal his and they both agree to find Shivani and Tej. Once the runaway couple found they are banished from the kingdom, Shivani is stripped off her title, Bharmal disowns her, Jalal relinquishes his protection over her and sends them packing away never to be seen again. The way the writers presented this couple I have never been so disgusted it was purely hateful what they did so we all will be most happy if we never see these characters again. If Jodha has any sense at all she will shed a few tears but will understand what was done needed to be done and stop her jibber jabber on Rajvanshi pride and sanskaars. Jodha should have a moment with Hakim apologize profusely and send him off to Kabul where he unfortunately will never come back from as the same person again. All the Ameris leave bye now, and lets get on with this Ben finale.
