I hope you are feeling much better now.
I am so glad you feel the same way too. I don't find them a sensual or irresistible couple either, not epic love ohhh far from it, this is no darcy/elizabeth or thornton/margaret. I always thought of Jalal to be like thornton a man clearly misunderstood. Ohhh there is fireworks from the first shot to the last when they come on screen now that is called romance and you don't even have to touch each other. I pictured Jodha to be like Margaret, self righteous to a fault but you can't help routing for her. Margaret loved Thornton for who he was, he was a rough diamond, she didn't need to change him or his values, all he needed was love when she understood that primal point what an epic love that was.
Margaret's pride was well understood by the audience and it didn't taint the love story, infact it was her pride that was the perfect compliment to Thornton steadfastness. Here Jodha misplaced pride is suffocating to watch and it does not compliment Jalal's complexity, infact she weighs him down and this has nothing do with the fact she can't be a good queen, there is no hold your breath sort of feeling when she interacts with Jalal as a possible lover.
Aptly said about mystery being the crux of any epic love story. If anyone remembers that classic margaret/thornton scene where she leaves him after her father's death, now that scene is full of mystery it is a feeling how the scene carries with so much unsaid between them you are left wondering. The sense of mystery created when so little is said, but JA case too much is said and you put fingers in ears or like me fast forward the scene.
I should stop I can get carried away with my rendition of north and south hahaaa.
