Ruqaiya then recalls what Maham said,that how Jodha could benefit from their divorce. Ruqaiya tells Jodha that no matter what,if Jalal divorces her,Jodha would be responsible.
In the deewaan-e-khaas,Jalal declares that he won't permit Adham's marriage to Taslim. Adham protests,saying it was injustice.
The intrusion angers Jalal and he yells "khamosshhh",making everyone get off their seats.
Jalal then continues,by saying that he wasn't done talking and Adham's repetitive habit of cutting in between his talk will not be tolerated.
After he calms down,he says that,he was still in favour of his earlier statement,which would bring him as well under the law. Thus,he shall divorce Ruqaiya.
Everyone is stunned,a hurt Ruqaiya leaves rightaway. Hamida cuts in and says that,he should rethink his decision. Today's laws cannot change the past.
Atga Khan agrees and ge says that the emperor is above all laws,he need not be pressurised.
Jalal asks Maham her point of view. Surprisingly,she pretends to agree with Atga.
Atga repeats that he need not divorce Ruqaiya judt because of the new law. The law is for the betterment of the future,the past can't be tampered with.
Jalal strikes a googly,he says that he wasn't worried about himself,instead he was thinking about the rest. Now that he has decided to divorce Ruqaiya,all child marriages,since his own child marriage also need to be nullified. Thus,he orders that all those husbands divorce their wives,who had undergone child marriages. and if anyone undertakes child marriage,action will be taken against them
Everyone is stunned. Before Jalal leaves the court,he gives Adham a very stern look,clearly saying him not to mess with him ever again.
The Maulvis discuss the matter,they feel it was wrong of the emperor to order divorces like that. But,they do understand that he was trying to set an example. Although,they did fear uproar in the dynasty. One major fact that they pointed out was that Adham was to be punished,all this was happening because of him.
Meanwhile,Ruqaiya's sad plight doesn't go unnoticed by Hamida amd co. Hamida assures her that she will make sure that Jalal doesn't divorce her. However,Ruqaiya says that she knew Jalal very well. Once he takes a decision,that was final.
Maham and Adham are rejoicing their divorce. Maham got her revenge. Ruqaiya had insulted her once,saying she should remember,that at the end of the day,she was just a slave.
Jalal comes to Ruqaiya's chamber,only to find her sulking om her bed. He sits beside her and waits for her to speak. As tears make way through her eyes,Jalal wipes them away. Ruqaiya hands over a letter to him.
Jalal tells her that she very well knew he couldn't read,so she should read it for him. She calmly refuses,saying she didn't have the strength.
Jalal calls for Salima to read the letter. In the letter,Ruqaiya had putforth her pain to Late Humayun. Her uncle,who was very fond of her and also Jalal's father.
She says to him,that the marriage he had put together wad breaking now. The affection with which he had decided to get them married,she shall always cherish.
But she was hurt,not because Jalal is divorcing her now,but because from this day on,she would be totally alone in this world. Because,other than Jalal,she didn't consider anyone as her 'apna',nor did she make an effort to make apne.
Salima couldn't help but sob as she read the letter. Jalal feeling vulnerable as ever,pulls Ruqaiya into a painful hug.
