This song , i feel , has always aptly described a man's feelings for a volatile woman with a candyfloss heart. That how a man accepts his ladylove as a complete package - with her vices and virtues - smiling and shaking his head at her naaz-nakhraas, airs and graces , arrogance , aggression, vanity. Then, getting amused and touched by the softening of her countenance , her shocking display of heart and her mysterious and twisted expression of feelings of a 'beloved'.

A man who doesn't really believe in taming the shrew - but loving the shrew as she is - Volatile. Unreasonable. Unpredictable. Flaming. Beautiful. Intense. Passionate. Surrendered in love.

This is how Jalaal sees Jodha AT THE MOMENT. This is how Jodha is AT THE MOMENT.

Ego, arrogance , aggression are not always vices or makings of a villain or a vamp. Sometimes, they are defence lines, fortress walls guarding an extremely vulnerable heart. Attitude trying to envelope and safeguard an innocence , a compassionate heart that is not fit to be exposed to the world.

Jodha is not a vamp. She is not a negative person. She is an emotionally dense and complicated woman who cannot ready herself to be unveiled to a man whom her preset mind is hating , but her wild and free heart is showing its tongue to her and trying to break free from her, and just race to Jalaal. We have always said that Jodha's "cheap", "disgusting", "intolerable" behaviour is her line of defence against Jalaal. The only line that will stop her from the self-embarrassment, self-betrayal of accepting a man like Jalaal who was always her definition of cruelty and inhumanity. Jodha is a woman of self-pride, arrogance and a dash of vanity. Her ego is fighting tooth and nail to stop her from surrendering to Jalaal. Any person who has had a close brush with a layered person will understand this dichotomy in her personality and her relationship with Jalaal.

But...in direct opposition to Jodha's volatile temper, mega ego and feminine vanity is her heart - soft, compassionate , loving and transparent. A heart that forces her to release her ego and be genuinely happy for Jalaal's fatherhood, write lovely poems and make gifts for his heir, a heart that forces her to admit that she is the great wall of China in this relationship and not Jalaal, a heart that makes Jodha see Jalaal in a new light at the Dargah, a heart that makes Jodha defend Jalaal fiercely to the aavaam and even her own family, a heart that goes running to Jalaal the moment pain falls on him, a heart that forces her to unleash her true care and sentiments to a dying Jalaal, a heart that makes her steal glances at Jalaal when he is not looking... A heart that is beyond Jodha's egocentric control and a heart that Jalaal has seen. A heart that has convinced Jalaal that Jodha, for all the chudailgiri and baaghingiri she does with him, will not let anything happen to him.

Today, it was that little , tortured-by-Jodha , heart looking up with a big smile. Cutting through all layers of Jodha's put-on arrogance , it drove Jodha to cook for Jalaal - the food that she doesn't even eat , but cooked for her attyaachaari hubby. It made itself visible enough in Jodha's eyes and gestures that Moti, Saleema and Hameeda can see it . It trespassed and trampled on Jodha's ego to smile at Jalaal and the man was truly touched. It stirred Jodha's gratitude, her solid but rarely visible change of heart into cauldrons of food. Reminding you that when someone goes out of their way and cooks for you , its a sign of care , affection and protection they feel for you.

Its easy to take people on face value. Its even easier to judge and pass sentences. But more often than , not, what you see is an ILLUSION. Its someone else behind that stained glass. Someone who doesn't want to be discovered. Someone who , for all the crazy reasons you can see, think, believe is just 'Philophobic'. Afraid of an unknown fear to love and being loved. Almost believing that they cannot let down their walls and let someone in - believing that loving someone and placing faith in someone is like giving a lamb to a tiger and hoping that the tiger will not eat it. And when the tiger is Jalaal...a woman like Jodha has to wear the hide of a tigress and protect her lamb self.

And in such circumstances and more, all hope lies with the heart. That it will snip all the fears, insecurities, vices , shake you up and make you believe that to love is to be vulnerable , but if you don't risk loving someone madly and passionately , you are never going to find your other missing half.

Its pretty simple.

WOW Vicky, Just wonderful. 👏 superb description abt change in Jodha's behaviour. I won't say her nature has been changed, coz from just one day's behaviour , we can't say she has changed completely. but yes, she is trying something new.

Just yest, we were saying, If and When Jalal will win Jodha's trust, even a bit, her behaviour towards will change. once Jodha accepts somebody , it's forever, no halfway to it. It was there today with her. Jalal has won her trust for atleast on the thing that he doesn't go back on his words, so now she knows one thing, that he won't compel her to do something she doesn't want to, be it her acceptance to Islam or getting close to him. If she can believe him for these two very important things for her , then her softening towards him is understandable.

but more than Jodha, i was lost by Jalal's behaviour today. two diff Jalal were there. one with Ruku and other with Jodha. the things he expects from Ruku , he is getting from Jodha. He is shocked , surprised and touched by it. Too happy , to let it go, he grabs it fully , satisfied with them and so taking care that she is not hurt by him to go beck to old Jodha. He is mesmerised by this new Jodha and takes a pride onher being in his life and wants to continue with this new development. Finally , Jalal is at peace to be genuinely happy for someone is there ONLY FOR HIM.

Ah you finally made a post..Worth the wait😆 I loved the epi..Jalal finally got his due👏 And Jodha beghum was civil and respectful all along😲😆 Well, Jalal has the ability to charm the pants off any woman IMO😳 Jodha may be dense and egoistic but its impossible to not fall for this charming guy one fine day..It took way too long but ye toh hona hi tha😳😆 Jalal has to be one of the most accommodating and understanding hubbies i have seen on Indian Telly😆 That smile on his face when he realized Jodha has taken the effort to cook for him spoke volumes..That instinctive reaction shows you what Jalal feels in reality..He may talk about political strategy and all the jazz but that is all an after thought..Its those lil expressions and instinctive reactions which reflect the reality of Jalal's feelings😳😆 Oh and how delusional is Ruqaiya?😲 I honestly feel sorry for her She is either blind or prefers to live in her own lil bubble for her own peace of mind😆 Oh and Moti has become a huge JJ fangirl😆 Well, here is hoping Jodha continues to behave in a civil manner and doesn't go back to being her egoistic self😆
P.S. There is something about the way he looks at her man..Jodha needs to be a third person to see that..Since she is the object of affection, she'l never realize how incredibly lucky she is😆

Thanks Aanchal. The Rajputana angle will continue because it was one of the biggest challenges for even real life Akbar. As for Jalaal ke vibhinn roops. Jalaal khud nahin jaanta ki use kiski chaah hai aur kyun hai. Waqt rehte samajh gayaa agar, toh acchi baat hai... aur agar nahin, then, cool. Jo sabak milegaa, wo use hameshaa yaad rahega.😆

Dear Vicki,

Your choice of songs for your posts is always impeccable, as is the emotional rush of your prose, which often moves even a self-professed cynic like me. This one is quite lovely.

Today, I am prepared even to accept all this fervid, passionate ode of yours to Jodha, or rather to Jodha's heart, because I am, for once, quite in charity with her for behaving rationally and decently for a change. Like a cat which has swallowed all the cream it can stuff in, true, but she was pleasant to Jalal throughout, and looked vastly better than when she is projecting scorn and ghrina, so it was a relief.

I have made a Deepavali resolution not to tear strips off Jodha almost every time, for it was getting to be monotonous and irritating, and I am glad she bids fair to help me keep it!😉

This apart, today's episode was absolutely delightful, as light and airy as a successful souffle. But it was more because of the nuances Rajat brought to Jalal than because of the visible changes in Jodha. The look on his face as he says To hum aapka saath dete was fabulous in its candid, still conviction. That boy is a wonderful artist.

I was also pleased that the CVs had kept the tone of their scenes light and friendly, not overtly and forcedly romantic, which would have been most unconvincing. I hope this stays the course, at least for a bit!

Very nice post vicky!!!

Today's episode was dedicated to the new found civility between JJ...we all were looking for that missing 'thank you'...finally...it came...she wanted to express gratitude...she rightly chose to express it by cooking food for him and anticipating his visit which he could have never paid...it now strikes me that in the previous cooking incident jalal felt wronged by her...so besides expressing gratitude it was probably an attempt to superimpose the memory of this one over the previous ugly episode...that's why she said you taste it and then tell me...it was pleasant and conveyed the new found civility between them...one key dialogue Jalal tells her "I would have stood by you because I gave you my words..."

The closing scene...jalal asks jodha what she has learnt...she happily tells him...and even pulls his leg...jalal breaks into a hearty laughter and confesses that's exactly he would have said...again a civil and a dash of friendly Exchange...

The best part is no scene had touching and all...not remotely romantic...civil and at times friendly...that's exactly the way to go...👏👏

It was a delightful episode...😳

You have described Jodha's state so beautifully and eloquently!
I never disliked Jodha as a character! Yes she is a bit arrogant and mean and ungrateful but only when it comes to Jalaal. And how can we dislike her knowing that those are nothing but her defenses against him? Jodha is kind, compassionate and loving. We saw many glimpses of that in today's episode - from her interaction with Hameda to the way she acts with Moti as more a friend than her Princess/Queen and her genuine love and affection for Saleema and Rahim.
I was happy today because they finally showed Jodha acknowledging what Jalaal has done and thanking him for it . The absence of this gratitude irked me in yesterday's episode and today I was glad to see her thanking him. I think the writers finally realized that they were focusing on Jalaal at the cost of Jodha's character progression!
Not only is Jodha afraid of falling for a man who she thought was cruel and unkind but whose inherent and hidden goodness she is just starting to see but she is also afraid of falling in love with a man who has time and again claimed to be heartless and incapable of love. Yes Jodha has seen evidence to the contrary but she is still afraid that her eyes may be deceiving her. It doesn't help that Jalaal is all too playful with the teasing and taunting, making her think he is not a bit serious about their changing relationship.
Today I saw a small glimpse of a different side of Jalaal. Not a King, not a husband, not a man intent of conquering his willful wife but a relaxed and friendly Jalaal, just enjoying Jodha's company without any ulterior motives or taunts. I saw a little glimpse of what could make Jalaal fall in love with Jodha - her beautiful heart finally bared for him to catch a small glimpse of 😊 without any of the walls of defense she has constructed around it. Today she opened up a little to him without her anger, arrogance or fear while gazing at the moon and describing its beauty! It was such a nice scene 😊

Thank you and i love how beautifully you have put it across. Yes, Jodha's chudailgiri is reserved for Jalaal only because she knows that if she surrenders to Jalaal, there will be no looking back for her. Jodha takes reallly long to thank Jalaal but she does when her purity overrides her dark ego. Aur Jalaal ki shakal dekhi hai? Aisse labyrinth insaan ke ishq mein padhne se pehle mainn 1000 baar sochoon.😡😆

Jalaal has to remember Jodha's lit up face in the moonlight and remember that only this woman can love him sans the crown and the robes. Love him as the man he is.😳

I like Jalal even more because he is a confident man who does not get insecure of a wild head strong girl. This is true beginning of love for him, as he accepts her with all her vices. As you pointed out he has seen her heart and wants that for himself.

Thanks Meghnaa aur humein aaj Saleem ki yaad nahin aayi.😆...I hope that Jalaal is seeing what am seeing . Jodha's surrender and commitment would be something that a man can only dream of. Simply because it would be as fierce and genuine as she is on the inside.

Lovely post !

There were two parts that I absolutely loved today. One was when Jalal says Toh hum aapka saath de te. The straightforward conviction with which he says it was superlative. Rajat's voice modulation is unmatched. I have never before come across such perfect tonality and voice delivery on Indian TV⭐️
The other was when he says QUBOOL HAI😭😆😆 The ones who should be saying this haven't managed it yet even after 200 episodes and this beautiful 16th century hero managed it in less than 100😆

And very well said! It is this exact thing about her - the fact that she will one day love him not for his crown or throne or power but for himself - that will make Jalaal not fall in love but accept the burgeoning love and passion he feels for her, I think 😊
